  1. I know David Wise is most well known for his work on the Donkey Kong Country series, but I've been listening to a lot of the original music from many NES games that I grew up with -- all composed by David Wise. Examples: Wizards & Warriors series Marble Madness R.C. Pro Am Double Dare ("Gorilla" is a song that I frequently listen to on repeat when I'm trying to get work done) Battletoads The list could honestly go on longer. And these are all his pre-DKC works! He isn't dead or dying or anything (to the best of my knowledge), I just have only relatively recently realized that so many of the NES music I loved growing up was composed by him.

  2. I think I'll participate in this compo, and this is a pretty classic tune. Remember finally getting this on virtual console and being stoked.

  3. Can we talk about how how happy I am right now?! I thought it would get rejected to be honest (almost did actually)...but here it is on OCR, and I'm screaming in happiness! Definitely gonna try to make a new remix. And hopefully I do a lot better. Thank you everyone! And djpretzel' s comments had me rolling lol.

  4. Guitar lovers, you've found your vibe. This is straight Sonic rock, and well done at both the interpretation as well as the overall sound - it's like something right out of a Sonic set of extra levels for those players hardcore enough to earn a particularly difficult and rocking version of the Hydrocity zone. Well done!

  5. Calling this trance seems almost an insult to the song, if only because this is so much more textured and interesting than some of the standard 'trance' remixes of songs. Really, I'm stunned a description could this be different, it's madness. What ISN'T madness is the easy, sinuous quality of this song. I really like how different this is from most JENOVA remixes I hear - it's smoother and more thoughtful. Impressive!!

  6. This song is very 90's sounding and thats in a good love it and kinda felt like listening to something from that era so this hits that spot really nicely!

  7. Nicely done! I have to admit, for the first third of the song I was completely puzzling over who Dark Man was. Megaman 5 was the first one I played, but this had me doubting whether maybe 6 was my first. Either way, I did a web search and then it hit me when I realized this was the first part of Protoman's Castle, and not a "robot master" stage. Totally recognize it, and it brings me back to how I loved certain parts of this song (which I heard a lot, because I'd sit and watch those disappearing-reappearing blocks to learn the pattern). I really like the energy that this mix brings. Very nice!

  8. Gah damn son! This shyeat tight! Nah, but great job on this. The melodies are downright hypnotic and I actually really like the numerous vocal clips, despite not being so hot on them at first. Adds to the atmosphere of the track quite well. Also since I am a sucker for trap and enjoy chiptune, hearing them come together this well is like when the yams and mac and cheese touch on your plate: Freaking amazing.
