  1. Compo: MnP (Meat 'n Potatoes) MIDI: http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/MnP98_VGMSasha.mid Youtube: Hey there! It's kind of funny - this'll be the second wintery / Christmas-y source I select in this competition. It's been an interesting year! We started by going through a strange zone in an equally strange world and then warped through many more strange worlds (even a maniacal mansion), and, like clockwork in an RPG, arrived in a forest of monsters. But, with our unbreakable determination, evil has finally been vanquished! Now, as the season turns to winter and snow falls, it's time to unwind and enjoy the holidays! With that (attempt at a "story") said, I'd like to submit Sasha's theme from Advance Wars: Dual Strike as the source for MnP round #98 in keeping with a kind-of wintery tradition. To the best of my knowledge, this song has not been selected in any previous rounds or in the PRC. You may wonder how a Wars game character's theme would be wintery / Christmas-y, but give the song about 30 seconds (if the first few notes don't convince you). Whether it's a cover or a slight reinterpretation / expansion, I'm looking forward to seeing what you all come up with, and thanks! -Mr. L Deadline: Dec 30th Sun @ 1PM Vote Ends: Jan 3rd Thur @ 11PM Submit your remix Here when completed. MnP ARCHIVE - made by Trism MISSION STATEMENT The goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required. MnP Instructions/Guidelines Covers and Sound Upgrades are permitted. Most or all of the source notes must be present (but not necessarily in the exact same order), secondly the mood (energy, pacing, feelings being conveyed etc) should also be retained. For example, a source tune that is fast-paced and energetic that's remixed into a mellow/chill-out theme would be a hard sell. If you decide to do a genre swap (i.e. symphonic to techno), make sure that the conditions of #2 are met. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max). Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry. Please don't make any comments about people's entries - including your own - until the Voting process is concluded. BONUS entries are exempt of this rule. All competitors and voters must adhere to the rules stated within: Competition Code and Conduct MISC/TIPS - When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make ppl's lives easier. - In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)

  5. Hello, all! I'd like to add @ad.mixx to the project, taking a unique approach to Sector Y from SF SNES! Welcome aboard! --- Not much to report at this point. I've been dealing with some stuff this last week and only touched base with a few people so far, but I'm slowly getting through the list. Feel free to send me updates to your tracks while you're waiting for me to message you!

  7. Hey everyone! Here's a Zelda remix I completed recently, centered mainly around the Ballad of the Wind Fish and Kakariko Village. This remix is meant to be a musical representation of Link's Awakening's ending - a blend of the bittersweet and joyful feelings Link might have had at the end of that journey. I also wanted to achieve that sense of being "at sea" that many of Wind Waker's tracks evoke. There's also a touch of Wind Waker's Outset Island and Ocarina's Zelda's Lullaby mixed in, but only briefly. This first draft is technically "done" and I'm planning to submit it for review eventually, but I wanted to start off by getting some feedback from the community. Thanks for listening! (P.S. - I've got each of the Instruments of the Sirens represented in here, somewhat loosely in certain cases. See if you can pick them all out!)

  8. I really like it! Humanization sounds good and all. Arrangement is GREAT. The chord progression is great for this song so it's hard to fuck that up though. You have your own touch though, and it's a nice touch. GREAT JOB INSERTING OUTSET ISLAND. I love it! I can't give too much more advice since I don't make or listen to music like this, but I do like it! If I were a judge I would pass it no problem. But I'm not.

  9. Good ol' techno works well with this source. I expected some old school vibes coming from this round, Though, I'm sorry but i won't go full strength on this one.

  10. ad.mixx is a corruption of one man, a machine that feeds. It feeds on his pride, fear, failure, and success https://admixx.bandcamp.com/album/ad-mixx https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Xl6Sou9zDk&list=OLAK5uy_mNf1xL7NBxT-opWWTbp5XXdKeb1Wb4Ijw I've really spilled my heart out with the music, and the lyrics. I know I may not be the best singer, but I do know that I put my heart into every line, and sung as hard as I could for you guys. The music moves from catchy, hard-hitting electronic extravaganzas with dubstep influences, to softer, more melancholy melodies with smooth pads backing them. There's even some chiptune influences in a few songs. I know OCReMix loves its chiptune! The lyrics are mostly me being emo, from dealing with drug addictions from the past - to dealing with depression, and the weight that it brings upon the victim and the people surrounding them. I try to be catchy though, as to not bum everyone out. Please don't be bummed out! Just vibe with the music This is all I have to offer for now. Look out for ad.mixx 2.0 soon though! I'm hoping to get my second project before the end of next year, and it will only be bigger and better! If you enjoy this, stick around in the post your original music forums! I tend to post this music over there before it gets out in the public. Thank you! P.S. I will update this with streaming sites soon. It should be up within the next week. Thanks again for listening. Edit: oh and i don't know if this goes without saying, but any feedback on music, vocal performances, production is very welcome ^.^ BIG EDIT: I've realized that bandcamp was only allowing people to stream 3 songs before having to stop. I have fixed that. Also the spotify link is now up! It should also be available on any streaming platform you use. Thank you for listening! Feel free to drop a comment below.
