  1. I saw it, and I appreciate it. I'm always looking for feedback on my "work" regardless of whether it's good or bad. And there's ALWAYS room for improvement.

  2. It is absolutely worth entering, regardless if you win or lose. A lot of remixers on this site started off by participating in the PRC and other competitions like it. It's a great way of getting regular feedback on your work while letting you hone techniques and try new things.

  3. The People's Remix Competition 401 PRCv16-15 Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition! In PRC398 it was NinjaPenguinDan who claimed the victory. In PRC399 HoboKa was the winner. HoboKa submitted a source which will be used for this round. (HoboKa first send a different source, but asked me to use this one for this round). Source: Parasite Eve - Out of Phase (PS1) MIDI File Source Information ThaSauce link: Click here to submit The deadline is Friday December 20th 2019 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the ThaSauce page for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread. 2 Days extra. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of this round may select the source for PRC403, the rounds after next round. The winner of PRC399, HoboKa, who picked this source, can only participate by submitting a Bonus Mix. His vote is doubled in the voting stage. You can find the full rules list at this page as well. GOOD LUCK! PRC ThaSauce Home Page

  4. Hey, I remember being pissed off a ton for losing rounds at PRC years back. Then I learned to stop caring and enjoy it - cuz at end of the day, you still have a cool tune that you've made to show all your friends. Winning is just an added bonus. The feedback is still handy and no one is shy to give it here.

  5. Maybe you're right... But, then again. I get feedback on Newgrounds a lot. That's how I got to where I am tbh. By the way, I voted for your piece in PRC. Good stuff, but room for improvement, too. I left feedback with my vote. If anything, I may only participate as a voter from here on out to give others feedback. I have my own projects that I've been pushing back for these compos in order to make my presence known. I really need to stop attention whoring and get back to work.

  6. FMDrive's sound quality is solid and it has great features, output filtering included. Unfortunately, everything is obscured behind an extremely obtuse (yet admittedly pretty) UI, so I can't really recommend it. SPSG is a nice SN76289 plug, and is far more usable. RYM2612 is my #1 recommendation as it's lightweight and well-designed. Toggles for original output filtering, DAC audio in, and every FM parameter is up front and visible at all times. It's also 50% off at the moment - the code is right under the price! (https://www.inphonik.com/products/rym2612-iconic-fm-synthesizer/) plogue's stuff is also excellent and feature-rich, especially chipsounds MD. Pitch bending is one thing I'm still trying to find a solution for, unfortunately. Coming off of trackers where I can just slide a note at a set rate, it's not quite as easy to do with a pitch wheel or portamento settings. As far as sound quality/accuracy goes, though, plogue's stuff is top notch.

  7. Soundcloud: A simple remake of one of my favorite Zelda tunes. Nothing crazy done in the remix; hope it brings back some good memories! -Juke

  8. "Nothing crazy", indeed. The instrumentation is excellent, pulsing with vital energy and expressive delicacy. The piece evokes plenty of nostalgia while adding a depth of feeling with artistic flourishes that are breath taking. The only thing that I might critique is that the second to last time the sea SFX comes in (2:28), it cuts off a bit abruptly. Still, an excellent composition!

  9. Yep downgrades are good, so long as the source is recognizable and the mood isn't altered too much.

  11. This is a great way to start experimenting with stereo guitars. Alternatively, you could use a single synth, link it to two different channels, add a very subtle chorus (preferably before the distortion and/or amp), and tune slightly different their values (gain/tone/drive). That way you'll broaden the variables, thus reducing the chance of stereo nulling. I don't know which DAW do you use, Seth, but you could try the free Boss SD-1 and JCM9000 sims from SimulAnalog. I use them just after a generic DAW chorus, with the exact same instrument I/O (linked to two different mixer channels), and I get great results - special for fast and/or very technical riffs.

  12. I'm done with PRC, y'all. If you can lose to the objectively worst entry, it's not worth entering anymore. I am severely disappointed with Sonic fans in general right now.
