  1. Did you even check the link. yes I did."The demo will work for only 20 days." "Did you even check the link." was mentioned for Neon00b lol
  2. I don't know what the invertal of time is for a sticky to be auto-pruned, but just in case... BRRUMP
  3. Have you ever thought that maybe they say stuff like that just to get you to adore them because that's one way they can "relate" to you? With as big as online gaming is, and all those desperate nerds, it would seem to be a fairly easy marketing scheme to put that on their profile :-/ They probably make so much money, they could even get someone to act as the portrayed, in the game.
  4. I'm on lesson 14 Everything helps Not to mention: http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=82797
  5. Heh, coincidentally I went to the public library today and picked up the Home Recording Handbook. Though it may not be specifically for mastering, it has a lot of information on current technology and technique. Many professionals were involved in the book, including some from such respected newsstand titles as Computer Music and Electronic Musician. I also picked up The Home Book of Musical Knowledge and Classical Music 101, but those're more theory and history than anything. The titles you mention seem like fairly sound titles, i'll check them out as well, thanks
  6. There used to be a sticky in GenDisc for sheet music, but apparently it got pruned. A shame
  7. Not sure what that means, or if it even has anything to do with me... Could be virtual quotes? AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH CLASSIC. While I don't feel the comment deserves so many capital letters... yes, this place has quite a history Elysianhero. Virt was a regular member and remixer here, but due to a dispute with DJP, he left, and ventured out to create www.vgmix.com (which is down by the way). So, for some reason, people take him to be OCR's adversary Umm... I don't know if you wanted to even know all that, but just ignore Gung Fu Chicklet and keep on with your musical prowess
  8. Eh? They covered the details much better than I could have. In regards to the guitar being directly "lined-in" though, if you want an example of what quality you can get from that, just look at Harmony's ReMixes. With all of them, he simply plugged in his guitar directly to the SB Live and went from there in regards to EQ and ambience (made sure to turn off non-essential electronics as well). He used Sonar (but only version 2!), for recording and editing. If you can't afford Sonar though, Audacity is a great free alternative that is widely used (I use it). Have fun, and if you find some good music theory books, let me know. I've yet to scrounge through the library to find some.
  9. Got mine today, and if I wasn't working 10 1/2 hr days, I would be fiddling around with it. Vacation alllll next week though
  10. I might also add that finding equipment to record live is in the stickies somewhere, but might be hard to find. Look in this thread for some advice. Most of the time it's mic-> preamp/mixer-> audio card, and depending on your preference, some cables (mics typically take XLR). Sometimes you may need 1/8" -> 1/4" adapters as well, which are easy to find.
  11. Damn you FedEx and your signature required policy...
  12. it was posted yesterday
  13. That virt response was pretty awesome. Never seen it before. Anyway, I would take a look at ALL the stickies in this forum (maybe not the announcements D: ), and check out the tutorials link via the <------sidebar. I'm not really familiar with VGMix, but i'm sure they have some good stuff as well. Just for pointing you in the GENERAL direction though, i'd say you need some music editing software (many people choose Fruity Loops due it's price and easy learning curve), a MIDI controller possibly (not needed, but tends to make things easier) to control instruments, and if you want to record live (analog), some equipment (which is covered in the stickies). Not to mention some intiative , which you seem to have. I don't consider myself a veteran at all, but i've been studying pretty hard for about 6 months, keeping an eye on these forums, going to school for Audio Engineering next month, and yet I STILL can't bring myself to complete a piece. It takes more time than most are willing to commit to, but if you really love it, it won't be wasted. Like Virt mentioned in that link Overcoat pointed you to, don't just start out trying to do a remix (a little bits alright, just to get it out of your system), because you need to know how to create music of your own before you can reinterpret someone elses And i'd like to also mention... THANK-YOU for not being such a n00b about asking You were very proper in your inquiry, MUCH obliged. Good luck, and if the stickies don't help you, feel free to ask away, but make sure you try and find the answers yourself. A lot can be learned just through taking the journey itself.
  14. It can be, but for the most part, we just use software. A "virtual device" as I mentioned before. Being called a sampler, it loads samples, which are recorded instruments or patches, and sets the different notes to different ranges, respectively. From there, you can plot the notes with a mouse or play them live, and then tweak the sample with the effects complimented by the sampler (attack, decay, release, sustain, etc). Edit: My bad, settings on the sampler can be tweaked before as well, or even automated.
  15. I would imagine your computers. Regardless, your card is fine, but your card alone lacks the capability to run the files. You need a sampler, a virtual device that loads the instrument, which is usually contained in certain host programs. There are many more others who can give you the technical gist of it. Err..you need a sampler.
  16. Look at page 2-4, mainly page 2. In a nutshell: Kontakt and Halion apparently load them fine, FLStudio will need a converter (ex: cdextract), NNXT-19 has an update for AKAI. Other miscellaneous info included.
  17. I can second this. Just watch out, because if you put them in your pocket, the cushions over the buds come off easily I can imagine it happens with most earbuds. Only $20.
  18. Mumbo Jumbo? I'd say it moreso has to do with your host program/sampler than your sound card.
  19. Malcos has his album free for download. I'm not sure what parts were recorded live though. Darangen, i'm guessing has the SM58, so check out his mixes for the guitar work and vocals. Unknown actually has a lot of vocals in his recent album, but i'm not sure what mic he uses. Also realize though, that these artists most likely apply EQ, reverb, compression and the like, so the sounds are not dry. Different setups will provide different results as well.
  20. Just judging from this forum, I can already see them being pretty backed up. Still taking a damn long time though.
  21. I know I really wished I had weighted keys. I haven't played piano for long, but I can already tell it's difficult to put that certain amount of emotion into a real-time section when the keys are spring loaded. That'll do Radium 61... that'll do.
  22. Ah, $1000 worth of samples for $90 bucks. Feels good. Thanks Zircon.
  23. Zwitra recommended Renoise to me (that's what he uses) a while back, and I downloaded the demo. Pretty weird.
