  4. http://www.planetoftunes.com/digiaudio/how_a_to_d.html A small beginner's guide to understanding sample rate and bit depth. I hear a lot of people being confused on what settings to choose, so this should help you out a bit.

  6. You're right, in that building a computer isn't hard. It's knowing the compatibility between your parts that's tough though. When it's factory built, they are stringent with compatibility, and all the parts have been tested likewise.
  7. I got my computer from www.ibuypower.com They aren't tailored for audio needs, but depending on what you get, it can be that way. Of course they don't offer acoustic sound dampening. You can look at some of my specs in "The 'Who Uses What' Thread". Got it for $1200. My only complain so far is the liquid cooling. It blocks two rams slots and is LOUD when on full blast. I'm getting rid of it as soon as I can. Speaking of "Whisper Quiet" sound dampening (though I know you don't do much recording), I hear Sweetwater's Creation Stations are nice and full of quality. Full of price too though.

  9. http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/searchText.php Search "guitar squeal" at that link. They're are all electric, but if you need an acoustic one, I can record it for you if you like.
  10. Radio stations compress the signal extremely. Even after the music has already been extremely compressed during mixing and mastering in the studio :-/ I pretty much never listen to the radio, unless my iPod is dead and I don't have my cd's with me in my car. Just clarifying. Don't mind me, carry on.
  11. Wow. Just picked up their new album. I'm really liking "The Only One". Been a fan of them for a while.
  12. Thanks for your help dude. Your efforts may not seem to have been appreciated until you finally leave... but I've gotten a lot of information from this forum, and because it was kept clean, it has made it easier for everyone to enjoy it.
  13. Welcome back! Thank-you for your sacrifice. Plenty of remixes to catch up on My brother's still over there for his second 4 month term. Sucks, but he likes it.
  14. This one's always been a favorite of mine. The ethereal piano processing is absolutely perfect and though the composition itself may lack complexity, it is an emotionally impacting performance.
  15. Nice video. When everything is loud, there is no room for loud. A seemingly paradoxical statement, but true. Other than the loss of sound quality from over limiting, engaging volume dynamics are also lost. Sad really on both ends: How the record companies enforce it, and how listeners are fooled by it. If you want to get more in depth about the discussion of the "Loudness Wars" you can take a gander at this article.
  16. Never played any of the Silent Hills, but I have the OST's to all of them. Along with Genso Suikoden, Onimusha 2, Sim City 3k, Sim City 4: Rush Hour, and We Love Katamari. Never played any of them either. Proof (for me anyway) that liking video game music isn't just a matter of nostalgia.

  19. If arrangement and production were so individualistic then there wouldn't be so many books, tutorials, and classes on them already. There are certain principles that can be taught, and there are certain things that just aren't black and white. It's our individuality that sets us apart from everyone else, but I believe everyone needs a foundation.
  20. I completey forgot about enigma! Thank you. Even though I personally haven't listen to Enigma for the sexual implications, it definitely does have that sentiment as I've been told from several people. If you don't have a track list in mind, might I suggest: The Screen Behind the Mirror "Smell of Desire" "Gravity of Love" "Silence Must Be Heard" Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi! "Shadows In Silence" "Beyond the Invisible" Voyageur "Page of Cups" "Weightless" Heh... it's almost too perfect.
  21. I've got 2 demo discs now, and I've already downloaded this. So, if anybody HAPPENS to want them (free shipping in US!), gimme your address . Edit: Both claimed already
