  1. Precisely what the curriculum states, along with gates, limiters, line levels, bussing, input and output peripherals, etc. I've seen a large emphasis placed on microphone magnetic fields and placement. I large amount of the duration deals with a Pro Tools DAW as well (go figure). What I first described was kind of in general, but yes, this is all what I want to eventually be dealing with. The "nitty gritty" as I previously stated. And maybe as a bonus, on a personal level, the creative process will come along with it, but nevertheless, the engineering side of things will give me a great base to start from. Thank-you as well for the info Mike. I've already let school (college) slip through once, i'd be a fool to let it happen again.
  2. In the information pocket, I received a custom report for Sound Engineering Technicians that gives details on tasks, knowledge, work activites, etc., so i'm fairly versed in what will be involved. Just from putting one and one together though, I can see AE being used in recording studios, radio stations, concerts, sports arenas and for my own music I personally am interested because it's music, and I love it. I know many people do, but I want to get into the nitty gritty part of it, not just for the love of listening. Just from my little experience so far, i've grown to appreciate the process of making music and I want to be a part of that music/sound that everyone loves.
  3. I'm currently considering attending The Lexington School for Recording Arts (link to main site for the Long Island Recording Studios}, to obtain a certification in Audio Engineering. It's a one hour commute, but it will lead me to a career in which I have high hopes. I was wondering if there were any audio engineers here that could give me some insight into this field. Finding a job, where this position can apply to, salary, likes/dislikes, etc. I've already obtained a packet of information and such, but i'd really appreciate some experienced advice. Thanks
  4. I use the cheap, but purposeful, Behringer UB802. Connect your mic to the XLR, then your main outs to the sound card via whatever size jacks you have. The UB802 comes with 1/4". And a there ya go.
  5. Eh? Looks like Anthony Garone has a compilation going on. And the Zentao link I mentioned, but it's all text.
  6. You see, you can't shoot out something like this: And expect everything to be all "la dee da"
  7. Ah, thank you sir I've been looking for something like this. I wish they had some kind of tier system implemented to organize between novice and advanced tutorials, but i'll be checking them all out, so it should work itself out. I've been trying to learn "The Heart Seeks Pleasure First" or "Promise" by Michael Nyman, but my left hand just won't click when working with my right (which seems to have developed pretty good coordination). The left hand section isn't even that complicated, but it's definitely a mental aspect, one that I now moreso admire about piano players Between this, Zircon's Remixing Tips #4 and #5, and Zentao's Music Theory Lessons (the Circle of Fifths is confusing!), I should feel a little more confident about music composition. Thanks again Malcos.
  8. Don't think me...thank Zircon's ReMixing Tips Part #3! I just finished reading them today. Maybe you should have a look eh? The advice will probably be quite beneficial to you since you just got some new samples. Edit: I totally meant part #3.
  9. Care to join? We never said we had it, and with maybe the exception of sample haven Zircon over there, that's all we'll get to do. Though VA is a bit more reasonable. Oh it would be wonderful though.
  10. I used to have a file of Star Salzman having the choir chant "fuck you" over the course of a couple minutes, so their apparently pretty versatile.
  11. Well hot freakin' dog, my weekend is now occupied. EDIT (4/30): Looking through these tutorials was more tedious than I thought, but it kicked me up a notch. I even went through the extra ones hosted by ThaSauce. I can't thank you enough. You've certainly went above and beyond. These are perfect for my preparation for school in June
  12. I've been going through these very thoroughly, in which i'm now on "Effects Processing". The "Synthesizers" section set a lot of things straight for me. I'm very much obliged, and am waiting intently for #5
  13. Even though this thread is totally confusing, I got this out of it: Thanks.
  14. I can appreciate this mix, but that doesn't mean it's listenable. GaMeBoX's The Fifth Season is about as much chiptunes as I can handle (which I love by the way).
  15. Great sound man. I think the production adds to the authenticity, giving it an antique/classic ambiance. It definitely keeps my attention. The cymbal crashes, though in great arrangement, seem to be a bit over zealous at times, but that might just be a personal preference.
  16. This piece is impressive for the overnighter it is. Take that as you will. Pixie is an incredible singer, just not on par all the way through this one. Maybe it was a little late, dunno, but if you check her other works, she obviously has highly refined her skill. No offense Shonen, but nice try Only DJP gets away with squeaky vocals. The rap was quite dull. You're sharper in "Da Black Market" D-Lux. You kinda just read off the lyrics like you got called on in class. I think the only thing that got this mix posted was companionship, but fuck it, it's his site, and I don't have to download the song again. Glad you all had fun producing it.
  17. I've heard this one through Sephire's original work... and until SGX got a hold of it I can see how it would be a blast to make. Great job, totally kickin'!
  18. Checked out your music, and I can definitely notice the correlation. Good stuff. I've done a midi rip (not directly) of "Promise" and hope to expand on it. Though the guitar/main melodies are usually quite simple and riffish throughout his music, the effects and counter-melodies portrayed are what bring the songs out in it's entirety. That's what I love, and what is going to be hard to match, or...expand on. "Forest" is a perfect example.
  19. Meh...never played a shred of the game, but I own every bit of the music I can get my hands on.
  20. Ahh, I love both versions Have for a while. For those who are cranky about the elongated intro, there is a more straight-forward version on his website, but... shh. Good job bra! Well, i'm sure you've heard that from me plenty of times
  21. They won't be gone. They just finished printing. Any RMA requests allready have been accounted for, so you won't need to worry about getting the proper shirt/size. Awesome, guess now I just need to wait to get the address to send the item for exchange. Thanks I still haven't gotten the required info. I ordered my product on the 25th of December and sent an RMA request about a month thereafter.
  22. This is a beautiful piece. It keeps a steady, enticing atmosphere that's always changing, so it needs no real climax. It's just great to listen to. When the bass line came in, it's reminded me directly of Craig Armstrong's "Weatherstorm". They even share the same aspect of arrangement in regards to a more ambient structure.
  23. I play a little guitar. I'd like to see what I can make of it, unfortunately though, the link to your mix has expired lol.
