  1. Diehard fans will kill their own mothers and bombard Bethesda's offices with their flaming corpses if Fallout3 is actually first person. Well, that's the gist I got from the official forums anyways... :-/ I don't care much either way, although I must admit I haven't played the first two yet. If they do go first person however, I hope it'll have a slow, tactical combat feel to it-Maybe even something similar to Brothers in Arms.
  2. Quoted for truth. While I never really played it online much (didn't much like the feel of online saber duels for some reason), Ravensoft still did a awesome job overall, especially with the singleplayer part.
  3. If this is true I'll be very disappointed. Seriously, Blizzard has been yanking its fans around with all this spin-off BS.
  4. No one really knows what Bethsoft is doing with the sequel (maybe not even Bethsoft yet), which is a stark contrast to how willing Black Isle was to communicate with fans when they were working on Van Buren. I prefer to remain optimistic, despite the fact there are very few signs to support such an outlook.
  5. Here's a video of Black Isle's canceled fallout 3: Youtube: HiQuality DL: http://www.3ddownloads.com/nma-fallout/fo3/misc/vanburentrailer.avi You can also grab the tech demo here. That game was still in pre-alpha (or something), but it looks like it had some pretty good potential (Although I haven't played the previous games yet). Who knows what the hell Bethesda will do to the series. Oblivion was cool, for a bit, but it seriously lacks in depth and has some major design flaws.
  6. Damn, I missed that thread, would've submitted some Ravensoft avatar goodness.
  7. Diablo as a MMO would totally ruin any interest I would have in the sequel. Unless it somehow manages to rise above the festering pile that MMOs currently occupy.
  8. Well apparently he was/is a pretty good engineer, he actually designed the sound chip for the SNES way back in the day. I just don't think he cuts it in a public relations or company head role. Still, I think the statement was made mostly out of respect, and to the Japanese, giving proper respect is serious business.
  9. The Resident Evil games never were truly frightening experiences, at least for me. Basically all of the games were thrill rides, RE4 just got it down to a tee. I believe there's more to a game than it's camera, yes it helped in RE4, but the real reason you feel so capable is because Leon is just that much of a badass in that game. If you weren't roundhouse kicking a zombie (parasite-infected human, whatever) you were suplexing him or blasting his head off with a shotgun. Sure, the game threw horrific monsters at you, but it also continually gave you ways to blast away at those same crearures. Personally I feel that SH could work wonders with a first person view. It might even add some new life and innovation into the series, the way RE4 did. To some extent, I think developers have taken the easier route with similar games, using third person with there's a lot that can be done from with a first person viewpoint. Such a view doesn't mean there should be things like headshots, or less of a emphasis on characters and plot, but would serve to add a lot to the immersion of the game's creepy settings, which will undoubtedly benefit a lot from the capabilities of the next-gen consoles.
  10. Negative. Twin Snakes is awesome, all those who say otherwise just aren't real men inside.
  11. Philanthropy sounds kinda of like a dumb, weak subtitle to me, but whatever. There's a lot of flaws, and I could nitpick all day, but I'll just say "I hope it actually turns out well". Making a movie based on MGS and standing it up against the series is not something one can do in their sleep. Well, Kojima probably could, but he's just like that.
  12. Time to import! Or maybe not, from what I've read the game has gotten mixed reviews.
  13. Sweet, one more reason to get a 360, Although I probably won't until prices drop some more. I have Ace Combat 5, just need to get 4 and maybe 3 now. Is 5 considered the best of the series so far?
  14. Wait, RE4 is out on PC already? Is that in some other region than US-Canada? I think the best ported games I've ever played on the PC are Silent Hill 3 and Metal Gear Solid 2, they allowed a plethora of changes to the graphics via the game launcher and were stable to boot. It's a shame other ports haven't followed their example. I have Devil May Cry for the PC, and it's a pretty good port, a little rough around the edges but very stable at least. (You have to press ALT-F4 to exit the game, there's no meu option to quit, and to find out that command you need to read a readme file hidden away in the game's directory) Graphics wise...well it looks like a ported PS2 game, but what else did you expect? It's not like they developed it for multiple platforms simultaneously, since it was first on the PS2 it's not likely to ever get that much better looking besides maybe higher resolution textures and the option to increase the resolution. Hopefully DMC4 will be better suited for each platform, but I won't hold my breath. I also have been totally unable to enable AntiAliasing in the game with my 7900GTX, perhaps it's a problem with Nvidia's drivers (My previous ATI card allowed me to force AA in games that this newer card can't) or the game itself, but it's a pretty big oversight. Control wise, they did a decent job. You can remap all the actions to your gamepad, and the appropiate keys will be shown in the help screens, etc. The only small problem I noticed with my Logitech Cordless Gamepad 2 is that the button numbers in game don't match up with those on the controller - but since you're changing the controls yourself and never really look at your controller while playing it's never a problem.
  15. Damn, beat me to it & QFE.
  16. I work part-time as a Grocery Clerk at a grocery store, and while the work is really easy, boring and repetitive, it's bearable because I'm working with a bunch of cool, fun and hilarious guys and manager at the moment. Needless to say, who you work with makes a big difference in this sector. I started at minimum wage, but since I've been working there awhile I'm make a bit more now. Of course the government raised the minimum wage, so some of those raises have been rendered near pointless. It's a stable job though, good easy money for college and I don't have to talk to customers that often. As long as we get stuff done it can be pretty slack as well. I don't know if I want to work there full time come summer, but I can think of far worse jobs to have.
  17. I'm no expert on the engineering aspect of product design, but I think that an analog stick that could pop up for game-play, and then be pressed back down when you're done would be totally doable and offer a more free and natural range of movement. Even if you forget to press it back down it certainly wouldn't be as bad as forgetting to replace the stylus in the DS.

Does anyone else think that the spartan who had the bandana wrapped around his head could play a totally wicked Solid Snake? Seriously, he totally looked the part for it. Quick, someone send Kojima a snapshot of him. Other than that, I got all that I wanted out of this movie, loads of great action, boobies , and even more awesome action. I did want to see the battle at the end, but I knew they weren't going to show it.
  19. Yes, Stalker is indeed cool, and I've been looking forward to it for a long time, but It's not quite the same kind of game as Penumbra.
  20. So, who here has heard of this? Basically, it's a interesting new first person horror game that does away with conventional FPS gameplay (guns, etc) in favor of increased interactivity with the game environment in order to fight for survival. It's going to be released in episodic format (First episode available around Mar. 30). It's something that's better experienced than explained however, so I'll just suggest you try the 2006 Tech Demo first and then the Overture Episode 1 Demo, in that order. I say that because The Overture Episode One demo is really short, so while the tech demo is not as good looking as the Overture demo, it probably gives a better feel for what the real game will offer.
  21. I'm in the opposite pickle, I picked up the director's edition of FF2 for the XBox, but haven't seen FF3 anywhere.
