  1. Thanks for your reply. Okay as for mixers, I have currently a Eurorack UB802 () But I wouldn't mind buying a better/more suitable one at all. My monitors are actives, they take those 1/4" audio cables (TRS I think they're called) XLR, and RCA. The Guitar Preampy thing, it has to connect to the computer via USB for power and the foot panel switch and other stuff, but it doesn't route the audio through there.. it has separate outputs. Edit: Damn, now i know why you got confused. I accidentally labeled what was supposed to be the USB port on my computer a line in. I'll fix it. Edit: I guess I could use XLR cables for the monitors, since I've read that they're better.. more thoughts?
  2. Basically, I've got all this equipment but I can't route the audio around right because I suck at this kind of stuff. I made a diagram so I could kind of figure it out, but the problem is I have no clue if the setup in the diagram would even work (and to do it I'd have to rearrange my desk area and buy more cables and stuff). So I figured to be safe maybe I could see if you guys would look at it and see if it seems plausible... The Diagram is here (thumbnail) Sorry for it being a bit cluttered and, of course, sloppy paint artwork but making diagrams isn't really my area either. :/ I have to make my objectives clear if I'm to receive any help, obviously. Basically, this is my objective right now: - ALL audio signals routed into mixer, mixer routed through computer for recording etc., then signal goes out to monitors for playback Also, I might add more keyboards or audio things in the future, but I expect them to pretty much connect the same way as the keyboard in the diagram. Thanks in advance. I'd really appreciate any help I can get in this area, it's really confusing for a noob like me. And for those who don't know, Rig Kontrol 2 can basically be thought of in this situation as a preamp for the guitar (correct me if I'm wrong). P.S. - Balanced cables are confusing. Any problems there?
  3. Wow. I always thought, when I had slumps, "when I get as good as all those judges and stuff, let the music flow. I can't possibly release anything bad or get stuck once I'm that good." But I guess I was wrong. Eh, I dunno. Work with common chord progressions, make simple, catchy stuff with good production that will sound good no matter what, may kind of get the juices flowing. Really though, I bet you'll work through it with time soon enough.
  4. Meh... I guess you get what you pay for. Anyone know of a good (pretty much) quiet, reasonably priced mixer with a decent number of inputs/outputs? I know next to nothing about the large selection.
  5. Holy crap, forgot. I'll get to work on it immediately. Not that my song is really a very central or important part of the project.
  6. Thanks for the tip, but I think that's not the only problem... though it may be one of them. It seems even when there's no input to the rack, and my soundcard is just plugged into the rack's out I get hiss... which seems odd.
  7. Ok, so I'm a huge newbie at this audio hardware stuff, please bear with me. Recently I got a Behringer Eurorack UB802 mixer board. It was pretty cheap, just something simple that I wanted for basically one reason. I wanted to route my electric guitar, keyboards, mic, whatever into it and then output the rack right into my computer's line in on the soundcard. That way there wouldn't be so much cable switching and stuff, everything would be simple and clean to record from the little console, or so I thought. Well I got the board and a couple of 1/4" audio cables, and hooked it all up. I then tried to play my electric guitar which was plugged into an amp which was plugged into the rack's line in 1, and the rack itself was plugged via one of its many outs into my computer's line in. I expected to hear the guitar from my computer speakers, which I did, but there was a large amount of hiss in the signal. A huge amount actually. I looked it up on behringer's website's faq (even though I'm not even really sure what the problem is) and they talked about plugging everything into one electrical splitter from one main outlet. So I did this, and I still got a lot of hiss. Their secondary suggestion is something called a "DI Box". Pretty much, I have no idea what this is or if it'll solve my problem (the hiss). I'm kind of confused, and figured I needed some more help before I made any more snap purchases. I'm hoping some of you guys do know a little more about the subject, and can help me out a bit. Thanks in advance.
  8. say it isn't so That might be good, seeing as Soraya has seemingly disappeared.
  9. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I was under the impression that it should loop. Shall I update my song?
  10. Bigger, better, shinnier(lol), it's my new WIP! Tell me if you like the transitions. I fixed up lots of minor issues and stuff too. I'm approaching final, but still planning to add a decent amount of content onto the end. True, I haven't been working on this ALL that much. But it will turn out pretty good. Soundclick sucks And cool database.
  11. I guess I should give the guitar part of my song to Soraya. Yep...
  12. Passwords! Exclusively passed out to only the most privileged of members!
  13. Just want to compliment sephire on the first track, which is downright incredible. The other stuff is nice too, but Inciting Incident just really grabbed me. Wow.
  14. Definitely dated by OCR's standards today. But it has aged well. Very catchy, and the beat is a real foot-tapper.
  15. I started a medley that could be used as background or something. It's kind of a mellow piano/bass centered thing. I'll pm you (hadyn) with a link of a demo so you can tell me if it's suitable or not.
  16. Ass discussion is better than no discussion at all... or is it? Anyway, I understand about the website and stuff. Your initial screen was so awesome, though, I can hardly imagine what the site's like now.
  17. Make it public plz ... We can give feedback too ya know!
  18. It sounds very intentional to me. Not good, but intentional. He's playing the "right" notes more quietly in a different instrument at the same time, so I'm pretty sure the louder ("wrong") notes are supposed to be some sort of harmony. I don't think it works, but that's just one person's opinion. Edit: I just realized that Temporal's comment was more than a year old. Oh well.
  19. You're capable of much more than this sound quality and much richer texture with Kontakt 2. The composition sounds good, I don't know what to say really. Needs more equalizing and effects work most likely, but pretty good job so far with the arrangement.
  20. Oooh. Doom 2 is the only Doom I ever actually played. Lookin' forward to the remix of running from evil (though I don't know who that remixer is), and good luck.
  21. New wip from me, coming soon to private WIP forums near you. I'm starting to worry that my song doesn't stick together as a cohesive whole, and that the samples are teh sux. Hopefully with live guitar it will sound a whole helluvalot better. Anyone got any ideas on where to upload? Soundclick sucks now, and tindeck isn't working...
  22. Flik's part is really weird. But the song is pretty funny anyway. And you can tell Flik's a good voice actor. I didn't really get the impression that he was rapping, as he seems to imply though... More like talking really fast with some marginal regard for the beat.
