  1. I'm surprised no one worked on such a great source. Anyway, I have something going on but still in need of a vocalist: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=37842
  2. Thanks guys! Glad you enjoyed it so far I now have an almost finished track. I still have to add a few more layers and do a final mixing once I have some vocals to work with. The key change at 3:36 needs some more convincing transition but that too, depends on how the vocals will sound during that part. The ending also needs a bit of a work too. WIP2 (Almost finished): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/SnakeEater_wip2.mp3 Any complains/suggestions/comments arrangement wise? I hope I can find someone soon to complete this track!
  3. EDIT: Found someone Hey there! I'm actively looking for someone who can work with me on my new track and record "her" vocals for "Snake Eater" from MGS3 (as close to the original as possible): Here's a rough draft of the mix I'm working on: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=37842 Please PM me if interested. Thanks!
  4. 'Innocent Deception' (Finished): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/OCR/MGS_InnocentDeception.mp3 'Innocent Deception': Sources: MGS1: Konami Logo MGS1 & MGS2: Theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqqq8uqSDnk MGS3 "Snake Eater": MGS4 : "Old Snake" History ------------------------- I have quite a few unfinished wips lying around but I really want to finish this one up. It's a kind of tribute to all Metal Gear Solid games but mainly it's a "Snake Eater" remix. For now, I have written most of the basic song structure and looking for a vocalist to sing it so I can remove the original acapella (very dirty sounding but it was hard to rip it from the source). I've changed the chords quite a bit to to fit it into my usual style of mixes. Right now, it's a rough draft version and I really want someone to provide vocals before I can go further. The source acapella is making it difficult to listen to at the moment. WIP 1: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/SnakeEater_wip1.mp3 WIP2 (Almost finished): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/SnakeEater_wip2.mp3 WIP3 (Finished Arrangement w/ Cynthia Harrell's vocals): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/SnakeEater_wip3.mp3 WIP5 (Claire's vocals): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/SnakeEater_wip5.mp3 so what do you guys think? sounds interesting or no? Like the new chords, direction etc?
  5. I have a question; Will OCR accept a vocal arrangement that uses ripped vocals from the source track or someone has to sing and record their own (or someone else's) vocals for the track to become OCR compliant?
  6. oh man! What a tough (but excellent) game it was (probably one of the hardest but still enjoyable JRPGs ever). The game reminds me a lot of Koudelka for some reason coming to the mix, fantastic work! I am inclined to say that this track can actually be a part of the game itself and would not feel out of place at all. nice work!
  7. Awesome to know that! Tell your friend I'm glad he likes my stuff; very much appreciated
  8. okay I need to clear one thing. When I open any OCR YT URL, I see this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/ocr_terminated1.JPG and NOT this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/ocr_spam.JPG Not sure where the whole spam thing came from (or am I the only one seeing that "terminated" message)? EDIT: Never mind. Just tried going to the channel/user page and saw this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/ocr_spam2.JPG This gives hope that all videos are there. They simply need to re-activate the account and nothing will be lost.
  9. done and done. I really hope that they restore the channel with all the hard work done intact (that "terminated" word is very scary). EDIT: Goddammit! All OCR videos are gone from my favorites list on YT! So we'll have to re-add them when the channel is back I guess.
  10. Awesome mix! I think the flute at 00:27 is very cool but too loud (almost to the point of (but not) piercing). Love the synth lead at 00:50 but I think it would've sounded more powerful with original chords (you skipped a few of them) but this isn't a deal breaking issue. The flute harmony at 1:13 needs a bit of volume boost (also it sounds too mechanical). 01:38 onward is awesome! Overall, I think the average flute sample is holding this mix back to it's full potential. I too, face a lot of problems working with a flute sample. It's almost impossible to mimic the real damn thing Your synths are excellent! and drums are written out-of-this-world amazing!
  11. Whoopsy daisy! Sorry about that. Link is back up. Just don't expect too much and you'll be okay
  12. Updated mix: 'Timeless Devotion': Sources breakdown: (They are mostly overlapped) 00:00 - 00:37 : DKC2 (Mining Melancholy) 00:19 - 00:37 : Persona 2 (Map) 00:38 - 01:34 : Persona 2 (Maya's Theme) 01:35 - 02:00 : DKC2 (Mining Melancholy) 01:53 - 02:39 : Outrun (Magical Sound Shower) 02:40 - 02:59 : Persona 2 (Maya's Theme) 03:00 - 03:32 : Original Stuff Sources: Donkey Kong Country 2 (Mining Melancholy): Persona 2 (Map): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pw6-LkojX28 Persona 2 (Maya's Theme): Main Song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JWhM_aMthE Outrun (Magical Sound Shower): ------ [old] This has been on my mind since last couple of weeks. I wanted to do a pure 80's pop and came up with this (incredibly) rough idea: [removed] Not even sure why I'm putting it here but would be great to collect some ideas from fellow mixers Remember, nothing is final here, it's just a brain dump made within an hour.
  13. wow! congrats dude! Awesome to see you as judge as your feedback always been a fantastic help! :D

  14. Very nice! I don't have any complains. Loved the chiptune leads!
  15. well, usually people (not everyone) post their mixes in this workshop forum to get feedback, improve their work and finally "submit" it to the panel of judges. These judges will then evaluate your mix and if it passes the standard, post your mix on OCR frontpage (your track becomes an official "OC Remix"). e.g. take a look at judges decision thread to see how many mixes have been submitted and are currently under review: http://ocremix.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15 oh and if you want to learn more about judges and submissions, check this out: http://ocremix.org/info/Judges_Panel
  16. oh you're right up my alley I love mixing multiple sources. I think the it's done great over here. You aren't planning to submit it, right?
  17. sound much much better (sexy bass ) but still needs some work in the mixing department. I left some comments on soundcloud. Delete them once you check them out.
  18. Awesome stuff! Not familiar with source at all but I just love this mix.
  19. I think the whole track is lacking a much needed bass uplift Also, the drums are too ... "light" for such an energetic arrangement. I love your synth layers (arpeggios etc.). Why not introduce some pads to form some ambience?
  20. Just listened to your covers and was sold!! I have something for you and will PM you shortly You deserve to be on OCR (as an artist I mean )
  21. Dude! Thank you so much for the kind words. we're glad you enjoyed the track. Your review makes me feel very confident about the track The piano already has some reverb applied but it isn't very obvious because of the heavier influence of pads (in the beginning) and even heaver strings in the first bridge. Still, I tried playing with it, didn't like it and reverted it back. I've adjusted the velocities a bit though Yeah I have to agree that I re-used the fill-ins too much. tbh, I was so incredibly tired when I finally decided to lock this track down. I will go back and try to add some more variety before handing it over to judges This makes me a bit worried because my number one priority in all my work is always to keep things fresh all the time (primary reason I blend multiple sources together ). I always try to be very careful about the length of my mixes. For this track, I tried to write an original, somewhat "emotionally powerful" ending to keep the listener's interest intact. I hope it didn't bother you too much because I haven't heard "drag" complains from anyone else (or anywhere else). As always, many thanks for your valuable comments We'll try to do what we can to this mix and then pass it on to Judges, hoping it'l get through!
  22. hey! awesome mix I think you need to change the hi-hat pattern. It will make an interesting difference (because of the bass line pattern). How about applying some reverb to the snare (or better replace it). Interesting ideas on synth arpeggios and some synth layers here and there. I like the guitar sample. The track overall is giving me that 80's vibe. Looking forward to the next update!
  23. Thanks! The video is now up and I am moving this to Mod Review. Once again, thank you everyone for the awesome comments and feedback We hope you enjoy the track (and the video. I recommend watching it as it has more 'emotional' impact than the mp3) 'Ancient Dreams' (Video):
  24. phew! (x100). The track is finally finished! Can't explain how much tweaking work I have done in last 2 days. Personally, I love Sabrina's vocals here. Not sure if there is anything left that I can do to make it sound any better but let's see if someone can spot anything I've overlooked btw, some original stuff written for ending! why? Because I hate fade-out endings 'Ancient Dreams' [Finished]: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/OCR/Nier_AncientDreams.mp3 As always, all feedback is greatly appreciated. Also, a big thank you for all the lovely feedback so far! Time to work on the video.
