  1. I mostly play keyboards (hooked up to my PC almost always) and acoustic guitar. I can relate my personality to keyboard which can do multitasking at the same time, have different moods at different times, does not depend on anyone to complete a job etc. I belong to IT irl, so yeah, I validate!
  2. I have a small suggestion, you have too many high frequency synths playing at the same time. Not a bad thing but it makes it a bit difficult to concentrate on the track. Why don't you replace some of them with something low? Plus it's very hard to grasp the "pattern" of the track as it currently sounds. Some of those glitches felt out of place/timing. Also, even with so much stuff happening, I felt it wasn't able to provide any atmosphere. To solve this, either introduce some ambiance fx or introduce more low frequency stuff to fill in those quite places. Plus you should've got a lot of suggestions from the evaluation, right? Better fix those first Best of luck!
  3. This applies to the track "02 - Shifting Islands" which leads me to these questions: 1. On what criteria did you choose those 5 tracks that were posted on OCR frontpage? 2. Why wasn't "Shifting Islands" one of those 5 tracks? don't get me wrong, all those tracks were awesome but I just absolutely loved this one. If I ever remix a track from Sonic 1, I'll remix this mix. EDIT: Just listened to it a millionth time. God I love it!!!
  4. I hate you prototype! I was working on my mix and your track hijacked my mind. Now I can't get it out of my mind!!! and this happens every time I hear your track. I bet there's some voodoo stuff involved!!
  5. Whoa!! some 20+ evaluations in 24 hours!!?? Guys, I was just joking. You really don't have to work this hard! But awesome job nonetheless. (or maybe most of them were just waiting for the announcement, I didn't check the dates)
  6. Many congrats dude for the new position! Very happy for you since I always loved your critique in the workshop. Best of luck for the challenges ahead!

  7. Aaah, good to see it posted finally. Loved it from the wip boards. Likely the most awesome dubstep I've heard. Also, as someone said below, THIS is the definition of dubstep to me.
  8. I know, I was just messing around. I realize that the amount of submissions has been significantly increased in recent years.
  9. Congratulations and best of luck! Let's hope this speeds up the really slowed down judging process (no offense)! I mean, just look at the "to be judged" list (Holy s**t!!)
  10. Thanks guys; comments always help. The Spaghetti Western/Ennio Morricone influence is not intentional. I mostly make this kind of music. That was intentional since it is one of my favorite songs. BUT I'll make sure you don't feel like it isn't part of the track. This is part of the challange. Yeah I also wasn't so sure about it and am going to rewrite this. Gotcha! Will not happen in the next build. It actually was a filler for the sketch. Great to know that. I was a little nervous about it and wanted to replace it with oboe. Guess I'll keep it for now. I just wanted to get some ideas on whether to continue with this direction or do it in another style. The real challenge is to mix MGS track which has a different chord progression. My next upload is going to be a (long) finished version. Thanks for listening!
  11. Since you already mentioned there are mistakes in this wip, I'm not gonna point them out. I like it a lot and have a suggestion: It'd be awesome to mix this song with the ending/credit track IMO. Just listen to it for a bit and you'll agree that it will fit perfectly with your track's style. no? Good luck!
  12. I enjoyed it but if you're looking for a sub then you might want to consider what has already been said about weak sounds etc. Best of luck!
  13. I think I heard this before (prolly your first wip). Sounds good but what happened after 1:26? Missing stuff to be added or left overs that you'll cleanup later?
  14. I always thought 'Velvet Room' from Persona and 'Phantom of the Opera' can mix into one song perfectly. But for this remix, I'm trying to go an extra mile to add my favorite track from MGS1. This is what I've got so far: WIP1: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/Untitled.mp3 There's much to do here but chime in your comments/suggestions. Would be great to know what people think of the idea (Just treat it as a sketch for now) Sources: Persona - Velvet Room/Poem for everyone's soul: Phantom of the Opera: Metal Gear Solid - The Best is yet to come:
  15. I'm not into piano solos but I loved it. It made me feel sad (success!?). I think there was an accepted mix of Shenmue's 'ShaHua' a long time ago which sounds very close to your mix, so it is definitely OCR material. One small thing, the buildup came a little late I think. Also it needs more crazy dramatic portion before you come back to a calm ending.
  16. Razor sharp sound! I'm loving it. (I also thought the source was done for yet this mix feels fresh)
  17. Done! OCR totally deserves this. Best of luck! (definitely coming back)
  18. Agreed with all that Gario said. You should really remove the "Finished" tag from this mix. It's very nice sounding but nowhere near finished. It doesn't even have the best part of the source (which I think would sound great in this style).
  19. Oh yeah! I totally forgot about that. The AI of CPU player is so good you never feel it's not human.
  20. Ok here's the thing: 1.Play on easy (a couple of times maybe on different routes to keep the interest level) 2. Go to shop, buy cheats 3. Bash through Mania Just don't overbuy cheats because the game becomes boring if it's not challenging at all.
  21. was about to post it then I saw this thread. I've been following this game since like.... forever. Soo happy to see the final release. To me, it is the best-est of the best videogame remakes out there. Sega can never top it with a SOR game of their own. also, awesome soundtrack, most likely the best I've heard in a long time.
  22. My god! This is soo awesome! 20 minutes long and never once it felt repetitive, a feat almost impossible to achieve. The way you played with the strings in the background was amazing! Great job man! See on the FP!
