  1. Fantastic work here! dude your stuff is amazing! EDIT: Just came back after listening to the whole album that this is the best track from the whole album IMO. Great album overall
  2. Have you guys heard her WoW 'temple of the moon' cover? It's mind blowing: and yeah, the one below is awesome as well. but it very strongly resembles a town music from MagnaCarta 2 (can't find the link at the moment) EDIT: Sorry I was talking about the first track in the YT. The one at 2:20 is awesome!!
  3. Agree that Nier has an outstanding ost. If the mashup doesn't sound right, I'll get rid of it rest assured I have this "habit" of blending multiple sources into one track and want to see how these two different tracks sound together strange!? Other than the original piano intro piece, I didn't change a single note/word other than converting it to a 4/4 beat. Even the chord patterns are the same. It's the exact same song Also, I am going to cover the entire source (lyrics), if you mean most of the source is missing from this concept. Don't worry, I put my crap vocals only to give the idea of my direction to you guys. Once I have the vocals from Sabrina, I'll arrange the chorus etc. btw, I'm planning to make this around 5 minute mark; and thanks! Also, Lidawg, thanks for the comments dude. I actually meant to get a feedback on the direction I took (kinda messed up some words over there)
  4. This is my first remix featuring vocals. Song of the ancients can't be remixed without those beautiful vocals. Sabrina (OCR new comer) will be providing her beautiful voice for this mix, once it is ready. The song has been converted to 4/4 beats and the style is (super) chillout. Right now, you'll have to bear with my crappy vocals until the mix is done and sung by Sabrina. Here's the basic idea: Youtube: 2011-10-25: Finished track (w/ Sabrina's Vocals) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/OCR/Nier_AncientDreams.mp3 2011-10-02 [Ancient Dreams - Instrumental (Finished)]: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/Nier_AncientDreams_ins.mp3 2011-09-26 [WIP1 - Sabrina's Vocals]: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/nier_wip01.mp3 Just need to collect some suggestions on the direction because I will not be able to change it later on, once I have the entire structure laid out. I will be using Gerudo Valley between the vocal breaks. sources: Nier - Song of the Ancients: OoT - Gerudo Valley: Also, to get to know Sabrina: http://www.youtube.com/user/SabrinaValenzuela#p/u/27/DSafh2bhfgU http://www.youtube.com/user/SabrinaValenzuela#p/u/10/UoAcuoPWypc
  5. Have a question that might've been asked before but I'm too lazy to search (so sorry for that): How do you guys come up with the schedule of which yes'ed mix to post? It doesn't look like chronological to when the mix was accepted, is it?
  6. Haha, well it isn't a secret anyway. it's the VROOM project. Glad you enjoyed Sunset Riders mix.
  7. Thanks! I totally forgot that I posted it here long time before a certain "project" was born. It now belongs to that project so I had to remove the wip from here. (Sorry about that) But thanks for the encouragement. You'll get to hear a much improved version someday (hopefully)
  8. Dude! This is fantasic!!!! I personally think you should go ahead and submit it. See what the judges think. It has a very high chance of being accepted. (You can however, PM a workshop mod to get a final opinion if you want) No more complains! It's excellent now! Best of luck on Judges Review!
  9. The reason your previous wip sounded muddy was because your background stuff mostly were in the same frequency levels. What I'm suggesting here is a string (or synth string) from next octave playing either harmonized chords OR some sort of pattern to fill the gap. The arpeggio in the intro will not make the track muddy at all in the empty areas. Like I said before, just give it one last fix and submit it to the panel. Otherwise, the complains will never end Might as well get it straight from the panels and fix those only. All the best, this track has tons of potential and hopefully will get through in the first pass!
  10. Nice changes, the arpeggios in the beginning are great additions. Still, the introduction feels a bit empty, maybe bring the pad up a bit OR introduce some strings in the background. Did you add reverb to the bass? If so, just lower it a bit (I love the bass from your previous wip). Your piano lead at 1:25 is once again on right ear Loving the awesome banjo like instrument at 1:46. This is your original piece right? I like it so much that I'll probably use it if I ever mix this source (Once again, the background feels a bit empty, I think addition of (synth) strings in overall song can greatly improve things) Orch Hits at 2:33 have some timing issues. One more thing, I think you can re-use arpeggio at 0:19 in more areas of the song, I think it'll sound cool and fill those empty gaps. Hate myself for this but I am not 100% sure that it will get through the panel in its current form. I know how hard you have worked on this mix. Final suggestion (since you have spent a lot of time on this mix), fix the minor issues above and just sub the mix. It'll either get through hopefully, but if not, you'll find out exactly what needs to be fixed Best of luck!
  11. Thanks! that's it then, I'm like 99.99% sure Robbie and Emunator will like this version as well. Let's lock down this one and move on now. I can't thank enough to all of you for helping out in getting this thing improved. Now let's hope this gets through the panel. The absolute final version: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/OCR/MightyFinalFight_AllOrNothing.mp3 New Youtube video (once again, helps if you want to know which part of the mix is from what source):
  12. After taking all the suggestions below, I tried several iteration with ending piano lead (arpeggio, harmony, etc) but didn't like any of those. I think the only way to fix the issue is to replace the piano with a different synth which I have just done. I think this sounds much better than piano or using the same synth as the part before. Please have one more listen before we decide which one to hand over to the panel: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/OCR/MightyFinalFight_AllOrNothing3.mp3 (Many thanks to all of you for helping me out:))
  13. seconded on the "whiiuuuuu" repetition (remove it from every other measure at least) but man , it's lovely. my main issue is that the overall sound needs more punch (mainly drums and bass). Plus the lead is very very weak. Not only needs to be replaced but also apply a bit of reverb to it. And yes, the source is way too small to NOT improvise. Great stuff, looking forward to a more polished version.
  14. In any case, much love goes out to both of you for the encouragement. So I did a quick replacement of the leads and supporting instruments at the end. Please take a listen and let me know if this sounds better than previous one: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/OCR/MightyFinalFight_AllOrNothingALT.mp3 EDIT: After listening to both of them multiple times, I personally still prefer the ending with piano lead instead of synth (even though I agree that it sounds mechanical). In the second one, the synth lead is used excessively. But maybe I'm too used to listen to the first version so I'll let you guys be better judges to take final votes. I actually wanted to end the song the same way it started, easy and softly but then changed my mind. I wish I could make an ending even half as good as "For You"'s. (Your Haa choir made that song 100 times better)
  15. Thanks everyone! I'd like to know which samples you found weak so maybe I could do something about them The leads are intentionally chiptunish because I thought using any other instrument will take away the soul of the song.
  16. This is incredible!! and I'm not a big fan of metal. Excellent production overall. Loved it!
  17. I think you're right about drums closure. I am going to get rid of it. Here's a youtube video (just for the sake of nostalgia) EDIT: I removed the ending drums Thanks! (still there in the YT video though)
  18. Thanks! I'm done with the mix. I tried your idea of adding the sound effect at the end but it felt a bit odd since I didn't use fx on any other part of the song, so I took it out (sorry). so, submission ready yet? http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=35822
  19. Thanks Robbie! Your opinion is very important here because of "For You"'s involvement. I'm done with this mix now, I've re-recorded some leads, added some arpeggio elements on some less busy parts, re-wrote the ending. Fixed all issues that I could find myself. It's mainly Mighty Final Fight - Riverside (Round 2) remix but as usual, I couldn't stop myself from blending other sources in. The idea was to combine Chillout and Rock styles while retaining the chiptunish soul of the sources. I hope you like the remix, the transitions and overall sound Remix: "All Or Nothing": http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/OCR/MightyFinalFight_AllOrNothing.mp3 YouTube: (Helps a lot if you want to know which part of the mix belongs to what source) EDIT: Slight update to fix some velocity & mixing issues. Also removed the closing drums as pointed out by DC_Desperado. I too think it didn't sound right. 20. Guys! I'm almost done with my mix and in need of some final feedback. Help me out at: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=35822
  21. Thanks for the awesome comments I finally got the chance today to sit down and finish this track. The ending (For You) is NOT DONE (very rough) and I also need to add some supporting instruments here and there but it's almost done now. AkumajoBelmont: Don't worry, I'll fix the ending and make "for you" sound much better. I just wanted to finish the writing first (and need some sleep now ) WIP2: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/MFF_WIP2.mp3 At this point, I can definitely use some feedback that can help me apply final polish and finish this track. All feedback/suggestions are much appreciated
  22. Though I'm not a big fan of piano solos but I really liked it, very well written piece. Why don't you go ahead and post it in the workshop, get some more feedback and eventually sub it on OCR? EDIT: Looks like you posted the same link twice. Where's the other mix? I'd love to hear that one as well
  23. Yay! As I said before, this track deserved the front page treatment more than any of the other tracks in the album (all of them are great but this is my personal favorite). Very happy to see this here. best remix of "Marble Zone" I've heard. Awesome work!
  24. Excellent piece! Sooo groovy. Loved it! A very beautiful take on the source. One of the best remixes of the source I've heard. Great work!
