  1. The video is gone but it was that StarFox track that everyone compares to After Burner. Only the drums and guitar sounds a bit similar to this track. Otherwise, both of them are completely different songs IMO. edit: video is still there dunno what happened. Still.... completely different track.
  2. I like it but I think: - you need to change chord progression of the song in the first part. It doesn't feel right - Some parts felt out of rhythm for some reason - Effects are overwhelming in some areas. Try to lower the levels of effects This is one of the most remixed songs on the internet so you'll have to work very hard because you have to make a lot of people happy before you can submit it for review. Best of luck!
  3. Sounds good. Are you going to add more instruments? Even if you want to make it sound like chiptune, it still needs some drums etc. no?
  4. ok so I've decided to to pursue this idea further. Here is my first wip for this song. The idea is to make a nice chillout version of a fast and heavy track. I've played with the chord progression a bit to make it sound a bit more..... romantic. It is going to be very hard to do justice to such a high pump action track. btw, this track is dedicated to Bayonetta! (one of my favorite characters of all time) wip1: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/AfterBurner%20-%20Nightfall%20-%20wip1.mp3 I've re-written/re-recorded everything from scratch so forget that sketch I posted earlier. As always, appreciate your comments/suggestions. After Burner http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PY78laSGops After Burner (Climax) - Bayonetta
  5. ok guys! I've redone almost all leads: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%2...-%20Final2.mp3 1. Piano now has a arpeggio layer underneath to sound more natural 2. Both sax re-recorded to sound as human as possible (believe me, I really tried hard to make it sound real) 3. Flute sample replaced with the one with less vibration (also added some breath effects to make it sound more real) 4. Some chords progression re-written. I hope you guys have no complains this time. I really want to move on to VROOM project after this. So, submission worthy? Source(s) Bayonetta: After Burner: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PY78laSGops
  6. Finally on the frontpage! This definitely is one of the best mixes on OCR.
  7. I accidentally posted it in your Double Dragon thread. sorry for that. So is the lead (whistle) purposely out of rhythm? If so, why?
  8. Doesn't sound anything like "Bollywood" but awesome remix. Very fitting to a 2D old-school platformer. Thank you for the nostalgia. I love this remix. On a related note, the only people who still makes music like this in today's games is Platinum Games. Rest just goes to Paris to record a full blown Hollywood Orchestra which pisses me off most of the time.
  9. Thank you all for the encouragement. I've been incredibly busy with work these days to come back to this mix. I really appreciate your feedback and definitely will apply all suggestions I received so far (no guitar looping, revised acoustic guitar in my original writing, shortened duration, dynamic ending etc.) Sorry Calum but I already did what you were asking for (major chord) in my previous mix (Sunset Riders - Bleeding Guns). I thought about it as well and even actually tried it in this mix; but it just didn't work the way it did in the other mix. Also, adding a major section will take away the chilly feeling of the song IMO. I really hope I find enough time next week to finish this. Once again, thanks for the feedback; you guys rock!
  10. MJ > every artist in (or was in) the world, period!
  11. I love the chiptune-ish feel of the song. I like it and can only suggest a bit more of elements added to the background.
  12. I was kinda shocked when I saw this rejected. Definitely solid and well deserved 'YES'. Great work!
  13. I know I said I'm gonna post a near finished version but I need some more opinions. I wrote something original for this song between 1:50 and 3:00 and I'd like to know if you guys like it or not (especially 2:08 onwards). If no one likes it, I might drop the whole idea and start from scratch. Revision 2: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/OoT%20-%20Gerudo%20Valley%20-%20revision%202.mp3 - Just recorded some not-so-polished guitar leads and added some elements. - I have ironed out the strings/violin issues - Also 3:01+ is a filler for now just to let you know how I'm planning on coming back to the source. As always, all feedback is greatly appreciated!
  14. I forgot to respond to your question about recording guitar sound. Most acoustic guitars these days are equipped with small amplifiers that you can hook up to your recording source. In this way, no additional noise gets recorded when sampling.

As for the recording, I use sound forge to record just about every single note that I play. Great tool to iron out recorded samples. Hope that answers your question.

  15. Wow! great acoustic work here man! no complains, just plain awesome!
  16. Awesome! One small thing. When the main melody starts, it keeps on panning from left and right and then stays on left for the rest of the notes. Shouldn't you continue the panning or move it to the center if you want to keep it this way? Anyway, great mix and best of luck with the panel. I somehow feel like I'm in a competition to get a better Gerudo Valley mix out; You're giving me a hard time
  17. Excellent mix. I can really picture this in a sonic game.
  18. Awesome feedback! Thank you everyone, I'm so glad you guys liked it and now feel more pressured to be extra careful with the details. Some quick responses: Actually, it was your mix which sparked the interest in me to create my own version. Thank you for the inspiration. Other one was Diggi Dis's mix. aah. so that's why it sounds so familiar and the reason I couldn't pin point the source Noted and totally agree with you and Robbie. I'm definitely going to do something about it. It's so amazing that you guys listens so closely; even I didn't realize it until you mentioned it. The "likness" will wear out soon if you keep listening to it I hope it lasts until I can provide a finished song. Thanks! and finally Robbie: I cam up with some original writings for this song but will take extra time to make everything right. All because of people like you and many others here. But yeah, I think in last 6-7 years, I made a lot of improvements. Still, tons and tons of stuff to learn from all of you. I'm gonna take some extra time to iron out the problems plus I want to re-write the second half. My next update is going to be a near finished build. Thanks you all for the motivation.
  19. Excellent ideas but definitely needs some better samples. I'm not sure if you wanted that initial arpeggio to sound like acoustic guitar or electronic piano. Better samples (at least for the leads) will take this remix way high up. Keep up the good work and best of luck!
  20. I made a lot of progress since yesterday and now the remix needs your feedback to get polish and extra work done: WIP#2 Link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/OoT%20-%20Gerudo%20Valley%20-%20revision%201.mp3 two things: 1. Nowhere near finished, I have to add some 2 more minutes of stuff 2. The guitar bit in the intro is not my writing, I heard it somewhere but can't remember Appreciate all response.
  21. Thanks! As I said, it was nowhere near final. In fact, I have written a lot of original melody that can be easily merged with this song. I just couldn't decide between chillout or flamenco; (I always prefer chillout over anything). I'm gonna continue with this and come up with a refined and longer WIP
  22. I know there's tons of Gerudo Valley mixes appearing left and right on the forums. I just came up with an idea and need people's opinion about whether to move forward with it or not. This is very very short and just a sample of what I wanted to do. I'm going to mix Chillout and Cajun style together with a little taste of middle-east. Acoustic guitar work is rough and not final at all. Not many bg elements are present at the moment. @Hewhoisiam: Just like last time, I think I need your expert and motivating comments once again. Feel free to crush this one if you don't like it WIP Link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3443029/My%20Remixes/WIP/OoT%20-%20Gerudo%20Valley.mp3 so is it worth finishing?
  23. can't go wrong with Keep it Groovin'; What a great remix this is. Synths sounds just great! and that guitar @ 1:58 is just awesome. Loving it!
