  1. Ugh, another song I'm just not feeling.... I may try this anyway, but I think I'd rather work on originals. Best of luck all!!
  2. Listening to some of the songs, like the styles. Songs sound good... I'd be interested in doing something for ya, but honestly, dont know how inspired I'l be in the next while... In a music slump at the moment. That said, I'm really digging 'Act1 Remastered' and 'Intoxicated Twilight'. I'm a Reason user, so mind if I steal the source files off you for them? Just pm me the links.... As for styles I can offer, not sure what I'd do. I'm in a hard dance/hardcore mood, but I cant do it too well; my 'specialty' is more ambient tunes. I'l load up Reason now, see if I cant get some stylings going...
  3. So this is the first time I'v been online in like 2 weeks.... and my parents are visiting so I cant do any music. I'l check this out when they leave. I havnt done any music in 2 weeks, no wonder I have so much energy....
  4. 2 days to go!!! I'm getting ready already!! I never know what to wear...
  5. I highly recommend Reason for learning synthesis. Its interface is friendly and intunitive imo, and to be cliche, the Subtractor synth is complex in its simplicity; its easy to get going, but it has so many variables you have to know what your doing to get the right sound. ONE THING I WANT ANSWERED MYSELF: I dont have too many external samples for dance music, and am getting into harddance atm. But I'm finding myself really lacking a good kick sample. I find the beats I'm using dont have the same presence as the music I'm learning off, and given I'm usually a downtempo/ambient dude, the processing is way off my usual mindframe Help, kick samples or processing plz
  6. Well, now that I'm starting to use patches, I'm finding actual USE for refils!! Although its useful to have synths fully programmed in a second, its going to make me lazy... :S Sooo.. got a bit of time today once my parents leave (stupid visitors, sucking up my free time), but I'm gonna see what crazyness I can do with the songs...
  7. I played CnC like... wow how many years ago ... I remember Act on Instinct being my favorite song on there. I'ld love to remix this, but honestly, I dont know how I would... my styles don't really suit the feel of this peice. I'l try it out today, once my parents leave (when they visit, I cant do shit ), but I cant promise anything.
  8. Your a sick SICK man, but a cookie in the cover of night makes the ninjas footsteps crunchy...
  9. ok so in a week, we'l all be catchin up... m i rite?! M I RITE!?!? Confirmed are AB, FJ, Watkinzez, DWH, me. Guests of these are not yet listed. I'm ditching the mate I was gonna bring: hes become quite a bit of a ... dweeb since hes been spending all his time with his girlfriend. Srsly. Go relationships n all, but this is a serious personality-altering addiction hes got going... EDIT: Anyone interested in going to Utopia at Sydney Showgrounds after? Tickets would be around $75... I'd wanna go, but I'd want some friends with me....
  10. OOoo! Wow, learning alot from browsing this (and the other 2 files). Mostly learning that I should probably try using acouple of patches, they have some nice sounds.... Well Iv listened to the peices, and we'l see how I go for time on actually WORKING with them. These are going to be hard to remix, especially since theyr from 2 people whos musical works I greatly respect.
  11. :O:O I come on for the Reason compo and get treated to this. If my front tooth hadnt chipped massively today, I'd smile like crazy.... ( and no late night dentist in my area, I have to wait til tomorow.... I'l see if he'l chisel the Reason logo into the cap)
  12. Voted. And I found my terrible terrible entry from PRC93. I promise, I'l try and put effort into PRC100... http://vv85omg.googlepages.com/rockcrap.mp3
  13. Just running off to work, but wanted to check up on this, and I'm glad I did! Looks awesome!! Have to query publication of a reworked song in the future, but we'l cover that later I'm sure. I'm READY (to attempt to get some time, fail miserably and cry ) So I rename my file V________dibnip.rns?
  14. WHAT?! I did a mix FJ did a mix how is that no entries I say vote time
  15. POSITIVES * The sound quality is VERY nice * The sounds chosen suit the style * The songs growth is nice * Mixed by 2 very awesome people <3 NEGETIVES * Drums SUCK. All round... SUCKAGE * Drums still SUCK. (seriously the sounds get a bit repeditive after a bit, variation mabey?) * Ending is too abrupt * Soundscape isnt filled up enough. There need to be more ornaments * Dynamic contrast is a bit minimal, but this is moot * Skrypnyk naturally brings everything down a notch. Wish I was on IRC/the net/non-work related time more, it sucks not having a collab partner.... Overall a nice peice, but could use some work. GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!
  16. 1. I reckon 2 weeks per file, with little break between (2 days max, and the break during the week, cos I want to be able to contribute if I can, and the only time for that will be weekends). Will it be 1 file at a time, or multiples? 2. RNS, preferably. If someone has a synth patch I really like, and would like to save, I would like to be able to just SAVE it, not have to recreate it and then save it. 3. No idea, I'm devided on the issue. For example, I'd love to be able to submit a peice thats almost complete and have people feedback on the processing used, but that doesnt allow remixing or variations very much. But at the same time, I mightnt learn as much if I'm not direct with the request. I'l leave this for others to battle out.
  17. I dont have time for this.... as much as I'd love to, I dont spend nearly enough time doing music. I'l definatly tune in for results, get inspired and then mope about the said lack of time. IE. I'm interested, but not necessarily IN. IMO: Refils, I say just keep it to default soundbank samples for all instruments bar drums. Max 1mb of samples attached, with samples available on request. Additionally, I dont think this necessarily has to be a competition though. The voting would get tedius and annoying (again imo), and have no real reward. If all entrants of a competition submitted unfinished works that could be used as the source for the FOLLOWING competition, I can see that as more benefitting and inspirational, and provide a wider range of ideas. Sorry about the quick and formal attitude, my mind is in work mode. I'l check back on this tomorrow when I'm more relaxed.
  18. I do all my production on a Dell laptop with a default soundcard (onboard), and I'd say my production skills are decent. However my sound quality never seems to step up to the next level. I have cheap speakers, and my headphones arnt amazing. I use Reason 3.0 and do all my production in said program (ie no recording, no rewire). Now I'm not looking to blame my tools here; I know I could get better (hey, anyone can always get better), I just want to understand what my limitations are. I'm also not looking to buy, and I'v checked the other threads. The question is: what does the soundcard contribute? What differences can I expect listening/rendering a project file on this laptop, compared to the exact same file on a 'better' computer?
  19. Cant be there... Mortgage kills cash, and work kills time. Bad combo. I want to get to Melbourne again too, havnt been there in like 5 years...
  20. I entered a compo to win tickets, but as I havnt heard any reply, I'm assuming I lost. I know Rouge is going though... Sweet, glad we got you confirmed dude!! I'l crash you out in the grand prix game again
  21. OOooo yeeehh... been looking forward to this.... Recognise some of these, glad to finally have the final releases! Definate favorite is Image 3, but I'm also loving Image 6 and Image 1. I shall be pimping this out to all I know! Nice stuff dude, well done!
  22. Thats not a lightbulb, thats my auntie! Butter and eggs! BUTTER AND EGGS!!!!
  23. Not if the King gets a full house XD
  24. With over 100 songs, I gotta wonder how auditions (especially ones with such high standards) is going to be a win. Take the following into account: Take the FF7 project. That has 39 mixers on 34 songs, and has taken how long already (I think over a year). Thats a project based on an incredibly popular game, and being led by Zircon The SF2 project. Had like 80 songs at first, but in the end was released with a small number of tracks, 24. Quality on the project wasnt amaingly high either. A popular game, and being led by Shael Riley. Doom project. 23 tracks, still took a year, with TO leading on, and again popular game. Tetris Attack project had around 20-30 tracks, with some decent name supporters. Failed after a year. Super Dodge Ball project has some decent names, and only like 13 tracks. Its into its 3rd year around I beleive, and still unfinished, possibly canceled. Follin project. Led by LIONTAMER himself. Undefined tracknumber/listing. Its been over a year and I think 9 tracks are confirmed complete. Thats got a high quality level. Sonic Adventure wasnt amazingly popular. The tracklist is over 100. The project quality itself is expected to be high, as the auditions themselves are tough. As far as we the people know, theres no big names on this project yet. Its being led by someone who has no history of project organisation, and whose names doesnt strike awe in a non-forum go-er. In my opinion, something needs to be changed here, or this project will just sink into the oblivion like alot of other projects. A small but successful project is better than an ambitious but unacheivable one.
  25. dude... thats a huge tracklist... when were you hoping to have this finished for? Cos this will take ages. O wait, this is techno isnt it? 10 minutes work per track, and thats deviating from the standard template. We can have this finished in a week. Only joking. I'l be working on a track, will audition with it in a bit. (and not like 10 minutes later )
