  1. Go to the User CP -> Edit Options (left menu) -> Thread Display Options box -> Thread Display Mode frame -> "Linear - Oldest First" Also hey how's it goin' peoples.
  2. me and my brother in law played coop, played for like several hours and ended up going to bed at 5AM, we were pretty well addicted the attention to detail and use of the bionic arm mechanic in stuff like the challenge rooms is just awesome this game is just spectacularly fun and a like one of the best remakes ever produced
  3. may i have your attention! the fact that the game is fun is now void
  4. Last time this happened to me, USB Keyboard support wasn't enabled in the BIOS. Although my problem was dealing with a Linux install that was being fussy, and I'm pretty sure Windows was detecting USB at the time no problem. Still good to double-check everything, and I do mean everything USB is enabled there.
  5. The long answer: You would need to find a domain registrar service or agency that handles domain names. You have to pay a certain amount for it, usually $10-15 a year, then it's yours. You'd pretty much have to do this if you want derp.com. All your Wordpress hosting would give you is the blog, nothing else, but at least it's free. You will also need a web host. The internet is choc-full of them, seriously. A decent host that runs PHP (programming language Wordpress is based on) and has MySQL databases (used by the blog system to store data) costs about $30-70 a year depending on your needs. For your purpose, you can probably go with a cheapo service because all you're doing is blogging. Some web hosts provide domain registration for a fee, but sometimes going through a domain registrar service is nice because you get more control over your domain. Those are your major hurdles.
  6. Sonata Arctica is a power metal band that seems to be precisely what you're looking for. I'm pretty sure there's nothing about them you won't like. Wintersun is a melodeath band in a similar vein to Children of Bodom, but with more progressive elements. I think you'd like them a lot, and some of their vocals can be clean, although usually just the chorus if anything (so don't get your hopes up but give them a listen.) Of course, the minute you start to keep an open mind to growling is the minute you get access to an entire spectrum of bands that are incredibly talented. I have plenty of those too. I second Into Eternity, Angra, Sinergy, Firewind and basically any of the bands Bahamut suggested.
  7. Apparently, yeah. Wonder about the extra endings the PS1 version had, too.
  8. Yeah, now we'll never see games patched (think Metroid Prime 3 or Zelda) to make use of the extra sensing capability.
  9. Next thing you know they'll be releasing rumble packs, or something silly like memory cards. I can't believe how over the past few years Nintendo's become the resident expert at grabbing people's money over silly attachments that could have been included with the original design of the console. They were never like that in the past! But seriously, I'm pretty stoked for what this attachment could potentially fix about the Wii, finally. I think it's stupid to say the Wii was broken, but the only companies who made any decent use of the technology was Nintendo and its first party games and like... Resident Evil 4 or Zack and Wiki (both Capcom, in fact). Even then most of the sane parts of the world play Smash and Mario Kart with the Classic Controller/GC controller anyways. I can't wait to see how much shovelware sucks harder utilizing this little beast.
  10. Painkiller by Judas Priest and Panic Attack by Dream Theater? I... my... pants need to be changed. I'll be right back.
  11. Well, if you're playing GH3 mostly then you you might not have the experience to know how much of a better sense of rhythm is required to pull off a hammer on in the second game and Rock Band and why that provides more of a challenge. GH3 is still challenging, I guess, but like Bleck said it's more of an artificial difficulty. It really makes a huge difference when you get to the level of playing Expert. The timing window between hitting each hammer on is ridiculously huge. It's impossible for me to miss hammer ons because I can literally be completely off rhythm with them and still manage to hit them. In fact, sometimes my finger can slip and I'll have to readjust my hand and I'll still sneak up on a hammer on before the window closes and I'll be like, "Uhh, that note was like an entire second past and I still hit it? Whatever." That and the artificial difficulty (which when you get used to their "tricks" really isn't difficult at all) made it a huge disappointment to a guy who's been playing GH for a longass time. Up until the last tier, not a single song in GH3 is even a challenge for me because of that and not a single bonus track except for TTFAF is a challenge either really. It's not as if GH3 is a bad game, but possibly the worst of the bunch IMO.
  12. Yeah, I'm getting pretty sick of paying for new instruments just to get access to a couple new features. I've seriously got like 6 guitar hero and rock band guitars kicking around in my house. That's enough, seriously. When I found out I would have to buy another drum kit, another set of guitars, and another microphone just to get the most out of World Tour I seriously just wanted to put my hands in the air and say "Fuck it, I'm done." Guitar Hero 3 had an awkward sense of timing between single notes and hammerons because of that window. The fact that the hammer on window was retardedly big also made it too damn easy. Rock Band's been a treat in that it's done an awesome job of catering to everyone's taste through DLC. Me, my brother, and one of my friends love metal, and there's downloadable packs that cater to our tastes. Being able to play At The Gates and Evile is awesome for us, and downloads just keep coming out consistently.
  13. me, my brother, and cousins would play this coop all the time back in the day makes me want to play it now! also, adding to my list, I binge on DKC games every now and again and I've beaten Ocarina of Time from start to finish something like 10 times, many of them in a row, when I was younger.
  14. Megaman 1-3 and Megaman X1-4 Castlevania games, especially the Metroidvania ones, and especially Symphony of the Night. Metal Gear Solid 1 and 3. MGS4 seems like it's going to get a lot of playtime by me as well. Starfox 64. Any fighting game. I'll pick them up and beat the arcade modes whenever I want to kill time. Chrono Trigger.
  15. This is an incredible loss for the world of comedy. He had such a unique spin on his view of the world that it often managed to make me not only laugh, but also think a little deeper about the state that our world is in at the time. He was among my favourites. Rest in Peace, Mr. Carlin.
  16. Yeah, I knew that was coming, but I avoided it because it's an MGS4 spoiler for me to have to explain it. Since you want to go that route: [MGS4 spoiler]The rapid aging process doesn't begin until about 6-7 years after Sons of Liberty, and MGS2 takes place only 2 years after the first game. Well, it's difficult to say just how much oversight Kojima ended up having for the both of us, isn't it? It's just as easy for you to say MGS is Kojima's baby and that he must have had some oversight as it is for me to say that because there are glaring flaws in the direction of the game, he must clearly not have been as interested as he was in his own productions. As for retcons, going to those heights is ridiculous, but not only is Link not really a very well-developed character, but the plots he usually takes part in are completely independent from each other. If this was a case of jumbled plotitis then I'd be like, "Oh, who gives a fuck." But it's not, so I end up going, "Why the fuck is Snake kicking rockets?" If you don't want to read the spoiler tags, then just trust me on this one: an age difference of two years between the first two games isn't going to suddenly break his ability to pull those stunts. Your argument still doesn't work, and Twin Snakes is still just as flawed in this regard as it was yesterday. So you're still wrong.
  17. From what I know, Kojima had very little to do with the project. Nintendo and Konami apparently had to beg him just to get his blessings for a remake, but the development wasn't done by his team at all. He may or may not have done some production work on it, but he most certainly wasn't directing it. Also, he wasn't the one directing the cutscenes, which is where the main problem lies. Besides, good characterization can't be argued with "who are you to tell a person what to do!" It's not like an author can create a character, develop that character, give him a set of traits, but then change those traits without any sort of plot development leading up to it. Or if you're a video game designer and decide to retcon up the wazoo, then you're put in the inconvenient place of explaining why the loss of those traits occurs later. Disregarding it doesn't suddenly fix it. Either way that's a huge faux pas in writing and isn't really me arbitrarily "getting off" telling Kojima who or what his character should be.
  18. To clear something up, I don't think Twin Snakes is bad. In my post I even mentioned I think it's worth playing. But even after playing it, I find it harder not to regard the original as a more complete Metal Gear experience. Twin Snakes has a lot of cool bonuses, and like I said, having MGS2 gameplay superimposed on MGS1 makes for a completely different kind of experience. Whether or not you consider that experience to be better is up to you. Also, Poke'G, I already know about the story behind the choreography of the cutscenes. My point still remains. It doesn't fit Snake as a character throughout the rest of the series. Big Boss was not acrobatic. Liquid was not acrobatic. Solidus? You bet he wasn't. Snake's not either. Or at least, not until Twin Snakes came along. The cutscenes aren't a matter of ruining a classic, it's a matter of characterization gone wrong which IS an objective argument. Your face can turn blue telling me the cutscenes are fine. And I'll tell you they're entertaining but still don't jive with the rest of the series in terms of accurate portrayal in characters, the overall story, etc. That said, I still recommend MGS1 for the PS1 on those principles. Feel free to disagree!
  19. I've seen this argument a lot lately. I'll give some of my opinions on the whole dealie: I always felt the PS1 version was the definitive version. The voice acting in the original was more convincing, especially since the characters who had accents somehow lost their power to convey that in Twin Snakes, even if they were the same actor. Plus, the original Grey Fox voice was lost. Considering the PS1 version is what Kojima envisioned, I don't care if you prefer the new voice, that particular voice actor is the Grey Fox for millions of people who've played MGS1 compared to a handful that played Twin Snakes. I found the music during key moments in the PS1 to be particularly memorable whereas the versions in Twin Snakes weren't as powerful. The gameplay in MGS1 is entirely different from the gameplay of Twin Snakes/MGS2, and one of my favourite things about the MGS series is seeing how the gameplay evolved. I feel like in the transfer over to MGS2 style gameplay, something was lost in MGS for me. Mostly, it was difficulty. Snake's character was retarded in Twin Snakes. He's not an acrobat. He's not jacked into the goddamn Matrix. He's a soldier. He has endurance, yes, but he's not capable of pulling off half the shit that goes on in Twin Snakes. MGS1 was a working machine with all the cogs in place, and it worked so well in its simplicity, when you start adding in more to the formula it started to feel like that machine was wearing down pretty quickly. I never finished it, and I do recommend that someone who's played the PS1 version gives it a try afterwards because it's interesting to see the MGS2 gameplay superimposed in MGS1, but it's not a replacement.
  20. Just improves load times, because reading massive, uncompressed textures and stuff off of a Bluray disc can really mean huge loading times. The benefit of this, of course, is that the Bluray format can hold textures that are, like, stunningly crisp compared to other consoles.
  21. Colouring has commenced but I haven't touched it since Sunday due to busytown.
