  1. look at the title of the page on top ;P didn't notice it myself
  2. wee! Reason 4 is a Reason 4 meetup! we're all probably pretty scattered. OCRemixers with Reason isn't the most common thing ;P
  3. I'm glad people do this, it's really good to get listeners attention. Did you run it past DJP or Liontamer? They would prolly be delighted to hear about this.
  4. The Reason 4 final version has been shipped to the presses about a week ago so we may not have to wait too long
  5. *throws pokeboll* The_Damned WAS CAUGHT! still no ability to post?
  6. Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!! XD EDIT: IT'S FUNNY TO ME OKAY!?
  7. Yeah, being a judge probably takes the fun out of reviewing wips for many. But, as everyone, you are more then welcome to #ocrwip with your experience to help put an end to lousy submissions
  8. Beautiful. It works. Thanks Larry .)
  9. hey avaris, glad to see you dropped in This is gettin' crowded. I absolutely agree with msot of your points. I especially feel the "don't wanna be an asshole" part. OCR is very much drama, especially in the forums. As a remixer many aims to be as popular as posisble so they get recognition that way. It's sad that this behaviour leads to overall too optimistic wip reviews and praise. Although, let me point out I too likes to make friends and get attention (you know what I mean English is hard) because I'm nice but I would never let that make me lie about WiPs That's just bull. I also think everyone should get on #ocrwip. It doesn't matter if someone gives a general praise, there is ALWAYS someone to give honest constructive criticism.
  10. It's a hard world we live in. Nice to see you add to the discussion btw DarkeSword. Especially Judges must know about all the wips (that ARE in fact still wips) being submitted for evaluation instead of actual posting. I hope VGMix will be back soon for that matter, that would probably take some pressure off the panel.
  11. I use mac. I'm on irc Go download Colloquy ( http://colloquy.info/ ) Good point about why judges shouldn't be in the wip forums. But I still think they give the best critique if they would have the time. Zircon is for example the guy who gives me the best constructive criticism (mad props) when I actually talk to him Then we agree about the wip boards and channels being the filter. But as I said, too bad it's a tough job reviewing wips. I do, however, promise that I will comment on some wips on the board when I have time. Until then everyone in need of feedback should get mIrc (PC) or Colloquy (Mac OS X) and hop in to #ocrwip at irc.enterthegame.com Hope to see you there OA
  12. Nice to see this subject engages people in conversation Kanthos: The crap-praising attitude has got to go. But I think it will only go away when the wip boards get infested with good, constructive feedback from OCRemixers or Judges. Then remixers will really take the hint of a skilled and already acknowledged remixer saying they should work on this and that. That would at least bring some tension off the judges panel that gets overflown with half-assed submissions that takes up valuable space. No wonder standards are getting higher and higher. Too bad it's a tough job reviewing wips
  13. Hey OA, thanks for commenting I think you have a point but I, as you so respectfully did, disagree. The wip boards might not be the all around best place for feedback but I know some people are quite good listeners and can give good constructive criticism. I am spending a lot of time in #ocrwip on irc.enterthegame.com and we have a friendly climate but we're honest with the wip critique. I can agree some are more qualified to give critique than others but I feel, at least in my experience, most people that comes in to #ocrwip leaves with a good deal of helpful constructive criticism in their backpack. I do, however, agree that the judgespanel has become the wip board. Sad for people who, after weeks or months of struggle, feel they have a perfect mix and want it posted. The people who knows their mix isn't going to be passed but they "submitted it anyway", needs to be teached a lesson. They ruin for everyone sadly, even though they help themselves.. a bit. Anyway, now I'm blabbering too much Thank you for your comment , hope to see more of those. This is a subject that needs to be talked about.
  14. Thanks for the great feedback mate, as always I know this is a bit rough at the moment and I will def check out your tips. I've been listening to this today in my headphones and yeah, the melody and drums takes all the place. I haven't even started on the chordwork yet so You don't like the intro? Hmm. I was kinda proud of that cool bassline.. is it okay when the dulcimer comes in then? Because I REALLY enjoy that myself. Maybe layer some chords with a soft pad and a small ammount of ethnic percussion? I haven't compressed more than put the "Perfect Master" combi on top and didn't touch it, yet- The percussion is being reworked, I just slapped some loops on there to see how it worked. It's only one or two bar loops for ever and ever good thing you noticed though Thanks for the gratz, and thanks for the feedback. Later dude!
  15. Okay. I don't do this a lot since I hang out at #ocrwip all the time, but I thought I'd give the WIP forums a chance. This is my latest remix. After the success of my Jade Cocoon remix (to be posted cue) I felt that mixing electronica and ethnic was the way to go. And I really do like the sound of it. So here is a remix of Breath of Fire IV's theme "Endings and Beginnings". I'm probably gonna name it "Endings, Beginnings and one hell of a trip" just because it is that drugged out. I found and made some pretty warbly synths, I love warbly synths, to make the mix a bit rubbery. Then added some harsh beats to even it out. I'm especially proud of the Dulcimer (the string instrument). It's not sequenced at all, it's played live on my Korg padKontrol (example youtube vid of how I do it can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXSmYwzqUFs ). I also played the solo during the second Chorus, although I did slow the song down a bit Still proud though. The remix is a bit uneven in levels, I haven't had the time to mix it properly. But the sounds I'm pretty happy with. One thing I was thinking about was getting more of the original in there, now it's a bit un-focused, at least I think so. Tell me what you think ;P EDIT: Okay, pretty much done. I didn't feel like making something fat after the build up so I just ended it, fits quite nice though. I'm not that good at mastering but I think it sounds pretty ok. EDIT2: DONE DAMNIT! Might be too much bass but I'm not sure. So, without further stalling, here it is: http://soundscape.escariot.net/private_files/Breath_of_Fire_IV_Endings_Beginnings_and_One_Hell_of_a_Trip.mp3 And, if anyone's interested, the original: http://soundscape.escariot.net/remuxable/Breath%20of%20Fire%20IV%20-%2008%20Endings%20and%20Beginnings.mp3 Thank you for your time! //Mattias Hägström Gerdt (Another Soundscape)
  16. Just posted some thoughts about beginning remixers and OCR going for the better. Needs some editing probably, Larry if you please?
  17. Great changes djp. I can also, together with GeckoYamori maybe, do a Swedish translation if you're interested. We are a few swedes around and more to come.
  18. Good I feel satisfied with that answer. Thanks for taking your time mate
  19. Then I feel like I have to ask, what's a wide distribution in the judges eyes? Also, yeah, I was overreacting a bit. Since English is not my first language I have a hard time getting the exact meaning of that wording in to my head it seems ;P but I still wonder the above
  20. Indeed. I use Reason Orkester presets very often, maybe spicing it up with reverb. Sounds amazing. I think rephrasing that would be the thing to do. EDIT: Also, nice to see a european remixer hey PriZm EDIT2: I must also add I agree with Hemophiliacs point about sound effects. Using sound effects in a remix while also arranging a valid source tune is not only fun but an interesting part of a remix. So it should, as Hemophiliac pointed out, be made clear that sound effects are not BANNED as a remix element.
  21. Now I'm even MORE happy I took the time to order early Congratulations on the good sales, you've earned it
  22. I did something! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXSmYwzqUFs That's me trying out my new Korg padKontrol with a little improvisation. Sadly it's not VGM music, but since I am an ocremixer (to be posted and 2 tracks on the FF7 project) I thought people might eventually wanna see what I'm up to
