  1. Compoers that are also remixers then? As long as it's clear what they did when you're on the persons collected profile it's all good. Maybe a sorting options for remixers would make sense so you can see just that? Also as a video game music database it's generally a good idea to keep all artists in one roster and then credit them for what they did. I hope to see a bunch of remixers being featured on soundtracks and all that and this system makes that easier.
  2. Oh yeah, you can remove these too: :::ps1::: Koudelka (PAL) [Another Soundscape] Wild Arms (PAL) [Another Soundscape] :::ps2::: ar tonelico (PAL) [another soundscape] Gigawing Generations (PAL) [Another Soundscape] Magna Carta (PAL) [Another Soundscape] Raiden III (PAL) [Another Soundscape] Dark Cloud (PAL) [Another Soundscape]
  3. I'd love some more thoughts on this before I settle for a vote.
  4. Probably that it was XBL enabled since it did NOT say Xbox Live Arcade. This usually means downloadable content or ranking lists, probably the former.
  5. If you read the latest topic in Announcements on the front-page you'd realize what the fuss was about. Remixer AND composer (didn't complain about that though ) are now artist since we have composer/remixers and it will be an easier way to search the entire database and make changes. Go go go!
  6. You can add this in the WANT section, linking to this post would be preferrable Collectables/gashapon/figures/memorabilia/promo stuff - Mainly shmups, niche titles and RPGs (see post) [AnotherSoundscape] For those unaware, gashapon are miniature toys that come in small dispensers around japan. Picture example: http://www.playoldgames.net/stories/goods/shooting_videogame_history_collection.jpg Especially looking for the R-Type gashapons from Shooting Game Historica 1 and the one that came with R-Type Tactics when pre-ordering and such. Other titles are also of interest. Bigger collectables are always welcome too! Would love to buy stuff related to these games: Shmups and related - R-Type series, Gradius series, Cave shooters, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Galaga, Omega Five, Ikaruga, Bangai-O, Senko no Ronde RPGs - Shin Megami Tensei (all spin-offs), Persona, FFV through X, Baten Kaitos, Jade Cocoon, Disgaea and other Nippon Ichi titles, Lost Odyssey, Enchanted Arms ([eM] -eNCHANT arM- in Japan), Breath of Fire (any), Atelier Iris and other Gust games, Shadow Hearts, Blue Dragon, The World Ends With You, Beat 'em Up - SoulCalibur, Tekken, Virtua Fighter Niche/Japanese/Various - Armored Core, Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors/Warriors Orochi, Zelda, Vib Ribbon/Vib Ripple, Gitaroo Man, Katamari Damacy, Kirby, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Bumpy Trot, Onechanbara Various: If you have anything related to any title you want to sell but are not listed here, check out my game library at http://soundscape.escariot.net/games/ . If I own a title I'm probably interested in stuff related to it. CHIPP Damage: If you manage to find me some R-Type, Senko no Ronde, Lost Odyssey or Armored Core swag in J-land I WILL have your babies. (and give you money obviously)
  7. True.. However import prices varies and I don't know.. I'm not interested enough to go through the process of 1. switching to a whole other OS, 2. fumbling with an emulator and gamepad, 3. import the games in question. For some amazing titles I've already gotten a hold of the PAL releases. Especially PS2 shmups (mostly arcade conversions that didn't make it to US) but some PSX gems too. Anyway, I see where you're coming from and it DOES give me every shmup avaliable but I'm somewhat of a PAL collector and I have a big enough backlog to afford the wait for online releases or such.
  8. I had a late night class in Experimental Music and Sound Art and just got home so I'll have to try it all out tomorrow. Did download the latest Darwine though (that IS Wine but compiled for OSX, no difference). Will probably try it tomorrow after school and before work.
  9. I'm more of an artwork guy than putting the icons themselves on the wall. And if I do I prefer something tasteful And yeah, you are an american gamer but I figured since you love FF so much.. yadda yadd you know what I was thinking I'm just against the whole "logo on the wall" business. It's like you HAVE to show the world that you love games, these games, and not because you yourself appreciate the artwork from them. I found the FF6 wallpaper on the neogaf thread linked, go to the last page to find 4 new indexes with WAY more games than the first post. All my ideas are better than yours!!! Honetly though, do what you think is best for you, I was just being an ass
  10. Darwine didn't seem like it did work for anyone. I'll try it however.
  11. Actually, I'm bored enough atm to do that
  12. Brad, I like you but you've got no sense of taste What's up with all the logos and boxshot and manly men? do it like this instead: Final Fantasy VI Simple, clean and beautiful.
  13. I call bullshit. It's because it has certain euroshmup tendencies like unbalanced damage (you vs. enemies and vice versa), uneven tempo, detailed but busy graphics obscuring enemies/projectiles and general tastelessness Also life-bar based gameplay. Omega Five got fun when that went away From what I've seen it also lacks the unique enemy/bullet-patterns of a good shmup. This is generally "throw a bunch of enemies at them", at least that's the impression I get from the videos. R-Type and R-Type II, now THAT's gamedesign. Also, I'm really into shmups . I have Gradius I-V, all R-Type games and so on and so on but I can see where some of the reveiwers are getting their complaints from. I will obviously give it more thought when I get a PS3 but as I said, not at the top of my list.
  14. Damnit :'( but you also said something about emulators and whatnot It's a thug-thing yo Okay, I'll be honest, I'm just not that interested in gaming on a computer In other news Söldner X has gotten som bad reviews.. it's not that high on my list anymre :3
  15. I don't have nor will I ever get a PC. I also enjoy buying my games. Also it's ONE of the reasons I also want Valkyria Chronicles, LittleBigPlanet and a bunch of other stuff.
  16. Just noticed VGMdb, excellent addition! You could put up a poll about remixer/composer real-name preferences? Or a way to set that from your forum profile or something? *cough*.. Okay, I'll stop now...
  17. this is one of the reasons I still feel a PS3 would be worth my money. This and any eventual PSX shmup re-releases.
  18. Damn you ignoring my awesome AAA titles and whatnot What you said is probably a good idea, you tend to know that stuff best. I would still prefer to be credited with my real name for games (since that's what I go by in credits and whatnot) but as for OCRemix that might be too much. I think as long as the real name is visible enough (second biggest in case of remixers and biggest in case of composers only) it's cool. If you search for a composer and just get remixer names it might be confusing when we get used as a databse for game music in general and when remixers are making it big... IN HOLLYWOOD! Who would pay the bills then? That's right, HOLLYWOOD-KID! ~I kid.
  19. THE SEX! More information to the people! When I can find Jeremy Soules XBL account here I'm satisfied. (also, 70 remixes? I have a LONG way to go!) EDIT: hmm.. Since I do have some official composer merit, will my profile go by my remixer alias or real name? For example The Fatman is listed at George Sanger with multiple aliases attached. If possible, I WOULD like to be listed by real name granted the aliases added are searchable.. Toughie, I know, sorry for making you think and work and shit. :*
  20. Okay, I'm thinking of ditching my old flashed PSP for a new Slim & lite for TV support now that I have a decent TV. I always prefer playing games on TV and to play something and then bring it with you in your pocket is.. sexy. I don't use homebrew or download games at all so that's not an issue. Anyone have any experience with playing PSP on TV? Also, Power Stone Collection is sadly overlooked. Check it out!
  21. Not much to add after the lengthy shenanigans of my fellow jdgfgts but I'll throw in my two cents... The mix is lacking high end. While the grooves are all well and good there should be some more stuff happening (especially in the high end) to make the first minute interesting. The kickdrum is a bit too loud and the mix seems overcompressed. Melody sequencing seemed very spastic and without any aim. Some more interpretation of the source tune would also have been preferable. Overall this needs work in both production and arrangement. I can't really say much more than this so I wish you luck with a resub or whatever you choose to work on next. Keep improving! NO
  22. Coincidence! Just found Raiden III for PAL PS2 cheap after quite a while of searching around the net. Perfect vote to get me pumped! The mixing is generally a good start but has a few issues. The drums sound quite good but the kickdrum is too "big" and roomy and takes up a lot of space while making the track sound unfocused. The cymbals could definitely be brought forward some more (the ride at least) but the snare sounds good and so does the toms. Wouldn't mind less rimshots on the snare. Some audible cracks (for example the ending), get rid of those. The lead guitar sounds a bit on the dry side. The backing sounds good but at times get (palm mutes) gets too bassy! I, unlike Larry, does not think there is too much treble. I would've liked a bit more to make it "clearer" Arrangement is going in the right direction. You're obviously a good guitarist and the intro is especially a high mark. The lead playing does however sound a little bit sloppy at times. I enjoyed the drop-off at 2:31 but the snare sound is grating. Some more interpretation in the lead (I know you said you didn't want to but arrangement is what we're about!) would help too. Overall this is a good start but needs more polish. The mixing especially in my opinion but the playing could be a liiittle tighter and the arrangement a liiittle more interpretive. Keep working on this! Try out the WIP-forums and #ocrwip on irc.enterthegame.net for some constructive feedback and be sure to resub! NO(resubmit)
  23. This started out very cool. However the rhythmic synth that enters at 1:06 really puts me off, and it just goes on! It could've sounded cool with some odd beat emphasis but these were like in an entirely different tempo. I agree about the odd note at 1:40, quite a startler. Really odd harmonies at 3:47 with the low strings... You have a lot of cool sounds here but they're uneven. Some are beautiful and full and some (like the strings, piano and the lead at 3:31 onwards) are thin and sounds out of place. This might as well be a mixing issue since they sound muffled and "back" in the soundscape. Sadly this takes away the leads .. well, "leading" function and leaves a lot to the groovy but somewhat repetitive backing patterns and chords. Some transitions (2:36 for example) could've been handled a bit better but that's nitpicking. I think overall some more time could've been spent working with the harmonic content since there are a lot of clashing notes even though the chords are quite simple (as in, not many sevens, nines or whatever). I also think some of the instruments sounds weak and could use some work. Sorry if I come off harsh but I just see too many issues that keeps this from being a really good track. Take your time and really listen! What sounds odd? Is the mixing really clear? You'd do good there because this IS in fact a good arrangement idea but it's a little disjointed and unpolished. I hope you take your time and resub this! NO(resubmit)
