  1. This I did not know. I loved X-2's battle system, even if everything else about that game was crap.
  2. That'd be closer to 1.5 games really. Uh, I donno, I'll probably get FFXIII. Haven't really bought a game in forever.
  3. It's always worth it to take out a medic. Don't matter what class you are.
  4. It's more that co-op feels tacked on. The levels were designed for single player, and adding more people just makes things messy. This is in contrast to, say, Left 4 Dead, which is clearly designed around co-op, and is much much better in that regard. Call it apples and oranges, but I have a ton more fun when the game makes it clear that you're actually supposed to work together, and in fact penalizes you when you don't. In NSMBW, it's nothing like that. Your ability to screw over your teammates is greater than your ability to help them, and when you are helping, it's in lame ways like letting your allies use you as a springboard. The game doesn't actually reward you for working together, making co-op an exercise in frustration.
  5. that's cool and all but something tells me picking up your ally and throwing him off a cliff is going to lose its entertainment value pretty fast.
  6. So I got the game. It's a great, classic Mario platformer. I didn't expect it to be nearly as difficult as it is. Which is really a pleasant surprise. From what I've played so far (first three worlds), they've pretty much nailed the difficulty curve. The bosses are easy as hell, but what else is new. Co-op is pretty bad, though. I played a bunch with my roommate...well, tried to anyway. Mostly we just ended up getting in each other's way and making the game much more difficult than it had to be. I like how it basically blends all the 2D Mario games together, although it definitely takes more from Mario 3 than anything else. Which is fine, but as a huge Mario World fanboy my nostalgia goggles aren't serving me as well as I expected. There's some other things I don't like about the game too, but they're all minor. Overall a really great purchase!
  7. I went through like 8 categories before stopping because the only nominee I have played is l4d2.
  8. I feel like I'd end up beating it in a few days and never playing it again. And then it's like, "well, there goes 50 bucks". Although tbh I'm having a hard time justifying any game purchase these days, except for the ones with good online play that I know I'll get a ton of playtime out of. Broke college student, etc etc.
  9. Actually I'd say the Boomer is second best. But whatev. Also, holy crap the Smoker has a buttload of health now.
  10. Yeah, the game fucking rocks. I'm having tons more fun in versus than in L4D, though I am thinking the spitter is a little crazy. It should be harder to aim the spit or something, because right now she's far and away the best infected excepting the tank.
  11. ^Same. After reading some reviews I totally want the game, but I'm having a hard time justifying the $50 price tag.
  12. Oh, cool. also people who think 12AM is noon are dumb.
  13. Two hours? I figured it was being released at 3AM EST. What with valve being on the west coast and all.
  14. Just ban them. They've already been warned a billion times, and they're still doing it. And they're changing their names to do it. It's pretty clear they've got no intention to respect the server rules. The community shouldn't have to put up with this crap. Not from a bunch of outsiders.
  15. I somehow doubt the japanese song "fits" any better than the english one. in any case I actually think it's a pretty good song so whatev.
  16. Same here. Me and my friends did an easy-mode, melee-only run. Didn't work out so great when the zombies started hitting for 20.
  17. I'm interested in playing scrims. Don't have a mic, though...
  18. I actually like the new music a lot. Especially the horde music with the crazy brass. But yeah, I'd like to hear something different in the nighttime campaigns.
  19. I think this "L4D2 isn't scary enough vibe" is coming from two places: 1. We've all already played L4D. Many of us have played the crap out of it. First time playing L4D, it was scary. You had no idea what was coming. But after playing it and playing it, that feeling faded. You find yourself charging through the levels, barely batting an eye when a Hunter pounces on a teammate. The Witch, which was probably the creepiest thing the first game had to offer, is little more than a mild inconvenience after having slaughtered her so many times. I think some of that is carrying over to L4D2. Of course you're not going to have the same feeling of dread you did the first time you played L4D, because it's all very familiar. 2. However, I can't deny that there has been a stylistic change. The focus is slightly less survival horror and slightly more..."fuck yeah let's kill these muthafuckin zombies woooo". Just take a look at the intro movie and compare it to L4D's and this is pretty clear. Fighting in the daylight contributes to this a lot, and I am looking forward to fighting at night again in the other campaigns. Still, though, I don't think a lot of you are considering #1 as much as you should.
  20. Not sure if there will still be any by the time you guys read this, but if you go here http://steamcommunity.com/actions/TFGibusSignup/ you can get a free hat. The page is getting hammered right now so if it says they are all out, refresh and try again. Basically keep clicking on the "gimme" button and you should eventually get one. edit: ninja'd but anyway there's the link. edit edit: ah balls looks like it's over for real now.
  21. This is the worst part of many Korean/Whatever Other Asian Country games. If you're gonna charge people to play online, charge people to play online. Don't let everyone play for free, then whip out this micro-transaction garbage where paying gives you a clear advantage over everyone else.
