  2. there's a good chance i'll be bringing in a collaborator as well, but no guarantees yet.
  3. see where it says 'work-in-progress' in the thread title? that's your warning.
  4. The hell, man? Is that a serious question?

heya, sent out a notification today reminding everyone that the 2nd deadline for Sonic is coming up in about a month.. but your inbox was full. so here's your reminder :P

excited to hear your work :)

  7. aside from the intro, the arrangement is pretty conservative and could use some more fleshing out. any feedback i could leave in this department would pretty much be an echo of whatever i mentioned in your other thread, so i'll leave it at that pretty strings. i think some more stereo spread and maybe a slightly longer release would give them some more fullness. also, at about 25 seconds in i think the strings panned left become a little too pronounced. after the intro you should lower the attack on the strings, it's kinda slow and sounds fake once you get into the shorter notes. the piano sounds thin and slightly detuned at times, but the sequencing is pretty well humanized for the most part. you could edit the timings on individual notes a bit during some of the chordal sections around 2:00 and onwards. not bad! i think you have potential, so stay active hope this helps
  8. pretty good stuff, though it took me a few listens to really get into it. excellent variety of instruments with a nice clean sound and great production. nice work!

  10. i wish you'd have been around earlier! i'd have absolutely loved to have you on here. it's unlikely that any of these are gonna go unfinished, but i will definitely contact you if there's an opening. on that note, though; i am considering the possibility of bonus tracks... personally it's not something that i want to do (the ost is already short and thoroughly-covered, and i don't want it to become diluted with repeat tracks), but there seems to be a good amount of support and mixers willing to submit bonus material. thoughts, anyone?
  11. as far as i know, emu gets by on pure skill alone
  12. your best bet (and basically your only viable option) would be to contact the original artists individually and ask. it's pretty unlikely that you would find these hosted anywhere. i think his post might've implied that he is not interested in sharing it

  14. yep, that's right, though typically a counter-melody would be more of a support, and the focus would still be on the lead.
  15. i thought the piano sounded out of place whenever it was playing the main melody, like at the beginning. during the other sections it was alright. that melody could use some variation too, it's pretty repetitive to begin with and in regards to source it's pretty close to verbatim. the transition into (and back out of) the intro theme was an excellent idea imo, and a great change of pace. that sounded totally fluid to me. it is pretty loud - the quality is still alright but i agree with sly that could might wanna tone down the guitars a bit. cool stuff. i enjoyed it
  16. a lot of the mix sounds thin, the background pads and bell textures kinda bleed together and don't have a lot of presence, especially compared to the percussion. the bassline sounds good, but it's not loud enough. i liked the flute section (i think the flute should have played a larger role in the track as a whole), strong melodic presence there, but some of those higher notes were a bit on the harsh side. arrangement-wise, there's not a lot of deviation from the source apart from the intro and the change of key. try to add some more variation to the melodies, or some of your own counter-melodies or harmonies. also, you're right - i played through a decent portion of this game and didn't really remember any of the music, but listening to some of it again now, there is definitely some cool stuff here edit: also just fyi your sig image, although awesome, is 15 pixels over the limit
  17. we have made a few changes to the tracklist - a handful of tracks have been removed and listed as optional. these tracks are still available to remixers, but will not hold back the release of this project if they remain unclaimed. this leaves us with a total of approximately/at least 38 tracks, 12 of which are unclaimed.
  18. happy birthday man
