  1. took me about 3 years of using FLStudio (started in 2004) before i was able to get a mix posted. prior to that i had about 5 years of instrumental experience on flute and french horn, although i haven't really retained any of it.
  2. i can hear those tb_peach sounds from a mile away anyway, i love the idea of blending chip and dubstep, but the processing seems a little dry and the bass gets a bit muddy - i'd try throwing some stereo-spread on it to fill out the space and leave a little more breathing room for the chippy stuff. i agree that the arrangement is on the conservative side - play with the melodies a bit more or try to add some original counter-melodies or harmonies. not bad, keep it up!
  3. can you link us to an mp3 version instead? i'd recommend a free hosting service such as tindeck. youtube's quality is poop. anyway, since i'm listening: the glitchy stuff is on the right track, though i find the hard panning on the individual drum slices a little off-putting. some separation in the sound field is good, but this takes it a little too far. there are also some droning bits where nothing much is going on (see 2:17-2:35; 3:05-end), and overall there's just a lot of empty space - could definitely use some more padding, as well as low-range support. as far as arrangement goes, the chords are there, but the melodies aren't very striking and there is some uncomfortable (imo) dissonance at times that isn't really present in the original.
  4. i thought i had something going with Fratto's midi, but I'm gonna have to pass on that one. sorry :/
  5. deadline's coming up in two days! looking forward to it
  6. we've finished this and subbed it to the site. thanks to everyone who commented along the way. here's the final version, hope you all love it! chthonic, halc - Facing Fears
  7. repeating everyone else's sentiments - everything you put up on this board (and the site, of course) is freakin' solid. great genre adaptation - it works really well with this source. i feel like there's a little space for another background instrument or a pad support or something. otherwise, impressed as usual by your super hard-hitting production. keep up the good work, man. also, trix?
  8. i like this. it has a nice groove, and definitely that wierd/charming earthbound vibe to it.. but i am unable to enjoy it in it's definitive state because of youtube's poop quality. can we get a link to an mp3? (if you need a reliable free host, try tindeck) also, what's the source tune?
  9. yeah, not really hearing the TP influence. crowd sample at the beginning/end does feel out of place, and the tempo changes seem pretty random - the first one caught me really off guard. there are some cool instruments like the layered chip/guitar lead at the beginning, and some nice grooves at times, but the mix sounds a bit thin overall and the arrangement is pretty repetitive, and also too conservative with the source usage. there's not really any variation of the melody and it does that up-a-half-step key change in just about every melodic section, which gets old as well. the sound quality is alright, but your instruments are kinda bland. overall, not too bad, but some more personalization on the arrangement and production fronts would give it a lot more life.
  10. your rhodes makes me sweaty. i freakin' love this. really, really awesome work- please submit this to the site
  11. it's goldenrod but yeah, you'll have to wait until the project is released
  12. alright, i'm gonna give it a shot. it will be interesting.
  13. how on earth did i miss this one? i specifically remember seeing this on the frontpage when it was posted, but i guess i never listened to it. anyway, this is stellar, and i'm excited to see the second movement on the site as well (of course, the unabridged version would be the definitive, but we can't have everything ) great job!
  14. yeah, definitely has a cinematic feel to it. some of the louder brass stabs are a little rumbly, but overall it's pretty nicely balanced, and the samples sound good. looking forward to more!
  15. i've always enjoyed your stuff and this is no exception. hope to see some of these on the site
  16. little more update, just fleshing things out will be finished soooon http://tindeck.com/listen/nydt
  17. i am kind of half-tempted to turn the merry-go-round theme into a bad acid trip (don't hold me to it, though )
