  1. Am I the only one who doesn't like the way those guys in Chrystal Chronics and FFIII look? I mean, the graphics are alright, but their "artwork" (faces and looks) look odd...
  2. C'mon more love for Castlevania. I want Simon Belmont, and maybe a CV map in dracula's castle... What about those specials people? I think they'll be pretty well implemented. Occasionally, it'll pop out as an item. It'll be very rare I suppose, unless, of course, you set all items to it. I bet there'll be a special mode in which you have to find the orb and keep it for X time. When you do, a cutscene with the attack starts (I'm not saying it always does when you use it, only in this mode) and your character automatically finishes all the other. It's a simple game of searching for an object, then turns into a brawl (no pun intended) when someone does find it (it jumps out after 1 hit), and then, a fatality type finish with a huge bang. Kirby: "mmm...tasty!" That'd be nice. By the way, what do you think the specials will be for each character? I hope we don't get bland stuff like "pikachu casts thunder on all the characters". I'm guessing Snake's special will be particularly awesome.
  3. Hey arek... I WAS RIGHT NHYEA NHYEA. Ok that's over. I'm so-so about it. It's not bad, but it seems off place...
  4. I think the main theme is awesome, but some parts don't fit the previous SSB feel. Really epic, though, like the game's turning out to be. Kudos to Nobuo, and I wish he'd do some of the arena's musics alongside Kondo with orchestral, vocal, rock, electronic and "yoshi's story" which a genre of it's own. Also, how about posting your wishlists for the game. Not lame GameFags ones (like: SONIC SHADOW TAILS N KNUCKLES!!!!), but some that are actually thought out. Ok, so they're divided into 4 categories: -Characters -Arenas -Items -Misc. Try to limit your entries to each slot to 4 entries. On the misc. one, feel free to post as many as necessary. Characters: -Simon Belmont or Soma Cruz -Megaman -If Megaman makes it in the game, Zero, if he doesn't, Captain Olimar. -If regular Samus is in the game, Ridley, if she's not, Dark Samus (slower, stronger Samus, with phason based B attacks) Arenas -An MGS one; either the helipad at the beggining of MGS1 or the place where the final MGS2 sequence takes place. -The cavern from Kirby Superstar Saga -A Mario Paint level, which has similar music and randomly drawn platforms and incoming objects. Similar to Flat World. -Aether from Metroid Prime 2. Items -A capsule that produces a giant, arena sized attack force like the Nitnendog that licks your opponents, a Metal Gear Rex or Metaknight's ship. -Snake's Cardboard box, which makes you impervious to attacks temporarily, but can be taken from you if someone preforms a grab on you or if you do a B attack. -The Triforce. It acts like a starman only it also boosts defense. When used on Link, Ganondorf or Zelda, turns them, for the same period of time, into respectivly: Fierce Deity Link, Ganon and Zelda Sage which have stronger and faster abilities. -The Wiimote: temporarily allows you to pick up your Wiimote and use it to deflect attacks, fling opponents against each other and walls, and draw barriers that either trap them or protect you. Misc. -All the previous games' characters, arenas and items. Everything. No excuses. -Online play. A must have. -Extra downloadable content, like expansion packs. When a new game comes out, a pack for SSBB is realeased with items and maps from the game. That's about it, Nintendo is going to put tons of great crap I didn't even mention so yeah...
  5. Of course! I sure know I've mastered pretty much everyone on SSBM... By the way... Trailer's music FTW. Is it the FF guy? Who was it? You think it'll be in game??
  6. The DS+Wii hurts my pockets. I don't even want to think about the PS3
  7. Sorry, I'm going for Snake whore. At first. Then I'll realize he isn't top tier, and go to kirby as usual.
  8. I still don't get why that's on the portuguese site, Sapo...
  9. Hmm... I prefer Mario to Dr.Mario just because of speed. My main playing style with Mario is jumping a lot. And timing double jumps. So Dr.Mario doesn't really fit for me. Also someone asked what was the deal with Shiek? Well, she's just way overpowered. Her running A move is meant for KO's and so is the Smash Up. Besides, she is insanely fast and if you add the fact you can switch to Zelda if you are high on DMG or to finish your opponent...well...
  10. That comment could not have been gayer even if it had been about drinking tea at a rose garden in San Francisco during the gay pride parade while courting a person of the same sex by quoting Beaudelair with lisp. Seriously... No SSB on E3!! Arek was right... Oh well, expect SSB at that conference in Japan!
  11. It's used to dodge grabs I guess, but I hardly use it. I rely on timed double jumps and lots and lots of shield rolls. Lots. I can beat 3 Ganondorfs on 9, but it's pretty tough. It's easy with items, but solo, it gets hectic. I usually need a character that clears a lot of space in one move (Samus', Mario's, Fox's or Kirby's Down Smash) so I usually go with Samus. The trick is not to jump that much since they grab you a lot in the air with their B Up.
  12. Falco's jumps are awesome, admit it.
  13. Fox and Falco's Up Smashes are one of the best. I find the deflector shield "mehable" because I just can't use it, it stays too long after i release the button.
  14. Hell yeah. Although, you gotta admire how one of his alt suits in SSBM is the Blood Hawk one.
  15. I hate how Jigglypuff and Pichu "suck" more then the other characters... We need more friggin balance. By the way, does anyone use the ground dodge much? (block+up/down) I can see the top tier players using it instinctivly, but I rarely do. When I do one by mistake and I actually dodge a blow, I act all cool like: "Yeah, I did that on purpose..." I do use a lot of air dodges. What I really love is seeing a battle between 2 equally matched, medium to high quality players. It's awesome. Every bit of the match looks like it's choreographed as one jumps into the air to dodge a running strike, but it was fake so the other also jumps, only back. For a moment they are both in the air and you can feel the tension as, in those few seconds, they look at the perfect timing to preform an unexpected spike. One of them simulates a spike approach, and as the other does an air dodge, he uses his second jump to backflip in the opposite direction. They both land, stop of a while, and then go running at each other as the whole thing repeates... It looks like dancing for a few moments. One thing I don't like about melee is, that while it's chaotic yet controlled nature is fun, it creates the opportunity for opponents to use that nature as an excuse. "The barrel landed on me!" "The arwing blew me away!" "You didn't let me pick the best character!!" "My pokeball only had a goldeen!!" Yet, those four player battles are friggin awesome... My most played characters: (By order of usage) -Samus -Peach -Link -Kirby -Mario I love Samus, and she has the best running A attack in the game. I've KO'd several opponents with it. Remember, try to come up with original game modes and post them here!
  16. My favorite moments: -Winning a four player, 5 stock game when I only had 2 lives left and everyone else had 4. -Killing my friend when he lunged at me because the hammer I'd just picked up's head fell off, simply by luring him to the edge in Venom, jumping onto and Arwing that proceeded in going to the upper wing. He was Luigi and he'd used the headbutt attack to try and KO me. -Winning the 1-hour four player battle we made. -Not wining, but playing a 3-HOUR battle. It was awesome, we started by playing it for real, but as time went by we left the game running while one went to the bathroom, made mine fields with prox mines, and generally just fooled around. We used pikachu as a punching bag.
  17. He was overpowered in SSB, and more regularized in SSBM. Still not bad, I'm able of kicking some ass with him. The worst thing was replacing his running+A attack with the lame fireball. I was driven out of the arena so many times by that... I still say out loud "KIRBY AIRLINES!" whenever I do the up+grab with him though...
  18. Better yet, replace Roy with Eliwood. Or leave him in, that's what they'll do. Nintendo won't dare take anyone out, since each character is someone's favorite. I'm thinking 40+ characters, I hope it doesn't ruin it. EDIT: FIX SHEIK DAMMIT!
  19. I got to thinking what would happen if they placed Ash in the game. I know it's stupid, and he'd suck, but I thought about it because the pokeballs look huge in the game. If they placed Ash in the game, they'd have to make him big enough to enable him to put his fingers around the pokeball, meaning he'd have to be bigger then Bowser. His attack would be screaming I CHOOSE YOU PIKACHU at the top of his lounges for projectile damage.
  20. When they revealed the Wii at E3 last year, they said they were trying to have SSB as a launch title. Even if it's not, I'm almost 100% certain some info or footage of it will be released.
  21. So the next game in the Super Smash Bros series will be revealed at E3, as a Wii launch title, hopefully. So I thought it would be a good time to share our thoughts on the franchise. This thread is about Super Smash Bros. : Talk about your greatest moments in SSBM, your reaction to the original SSB, your predictions on the next one, how there are too many clones in SSBM, and how the original looks so goddamned awful nowadays. Also, post your favorite "game modes" for SSBM here. The game can be altered in many ways, from the number of items to the damage you give to the teams and toughness of the battles. Since there are several modifications to the main Vs mode (Giant Melee, Super Sudden Death, Tiny Melee...) these settings can be tweaked and rules created by yourselves in order to create different "game modes" There are some examples on the end of the instruction booklet, such as Projectile Melee: In projectile melee, only projectile wielding characters are allowed (Samus, Link, Yoshi, Fox...) and it's played in Stamina Mode. The arena must be one with lots of "cover" such as Onnet or Brinstar Depths. Players fight using only projectiles to damage the opponent as they try to lower their HP to zero. Restrictions can also be made to prevent the use of reflecting sheilds. All items are firing weapons. You can come up with your one modes, from simple ones, like restricting everything non-Mario related, to complex ones, such as a Trainer battle one. In this one, there must be 4 players fighting. The arena is irrelevant, but Pokemon Stadium is the preferred one. Players are divided into 2 teams, each composing of a player using a non-pokemon character, and another using a pokemon. The non-poke ones go to the corners of the arena, while the other 2 fight. Set the lives to 99, but theoretically, the non-pokes are only allowed to have 3. So once they lose 3 lives, the battle is over. The pokemons fight until one of them dies. When this happens, the "Trainer" must replace him for 30 seconds (or more) taking hits from both the opposing pokemon and trainer. If he kills the opposing trainer during this period, this does not count to the opposing one's life total. As soon as one of the trainers loses all their lives, the other team is declared victor. Your turn now. Come up with new modes, talk about the series and speculate away about the next SSB. Also, after the unveiling of Super Smash Bros. Online (Wii?), use this thread to discuss the new changes made to the game. Super Smash Bros. Brawl possible character list (updated by arashi): Bowser Baby Bowser Captain Falcon DeDeDe Donkey Kong Dr. Mario Falco Fox Ganondorf/Aghanim Ice Climbers Jigglypuff Kirby Link Luigi Mario Marth Metaknight Mewtwo Mr. Game & Watch Ness Pichu Pikachu Pit Princess Peach Ridley Roy Samus/Sero Suit Samus Snake Young Link -> WW Link Wario Zelda/Sheik
  22. You're the one to talk! Both of you, pics, nows! We better watch out, Rexy. I think pixie is gonna bust out the whip here soon. You're gonna be the lucky one; Pixie's whip is too large to strike you on your first try. Odds are it'll steer right across the Atlantic before she gets a chance to hit a surface with it. Across the atlantic?! That'd hit me!!
  23. You have GOT to teach me that move. Does it involve a scalpel?
  24. Nice job with the Hellsing avatars.
