Corey Oltman Website: http://kingtigermusic.com UserID: 13997 Name of Game Arranged: Sonic & Knuckles Name of Arrangement: Everything Is Glowing (Radio Edit) Name of Song Arranged: Glowing Spheres Bonus Stage Link to Original Song: a chiptune version isn't available on OCR, so here is a YouTube version Comments: I've been learning a lot lately about the importance of accepting feedback from others, in all parts of my life... that being said, this marks the first time I have sought and followed significant feedback from the Workshop/WiP forums. In that vein, I want to give credit where credit is due... so, thanks SuperiorX, PixelPanic, and Rozovian for helping me make this track what it is today. Now, for my comments on the actual track... This is a progressive-trance inspired remix, made (read: attempted to be made) in the style of Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk. I really, really like how those songs "meander" (to use the words of SuperiorX), slowly building and adding different rhythmic and harmonic elements, and then slowly breaking them down. However, that style doesn't seem to gel too well with the majority of listeners :/ so after I cut my 5:55 long track down to 4:39, I realized that it really is more accessible that way. The whole thing started when I realized that the staccato 7th-based note rhythm that runs underneath (almost) the entirety of the original song would work very well as a percussive rhythm for a dance-type song, and then my love of trance did the rest. It didn't help that I was impatiently waiting for the Sonic Zone Remix Competition to start, and I desperately wanted to remix Sonic songs. (If you haven't noticed, I love to meander with my writing, not just my music.) BTW, I did keep the full version of the song for fans of the aforementioned "meandering" style, and it can still be found on my SoundCloud page. Thanks, KingTiger a.k.a. R. I always thought that the feeling it causes, is one of the hardest to accomplish through music, so here's my rendition to that. I took parts from the very original version of Lavender Town, from the Japanese Beta version of Pokémon Green ( ) for the intro and bridge of my arrangement. You can clearly hear a little doom metal and djent influencies on this one. I hope you like it! Greetings from Chile! --------- - Lavender - weird beta version thing
  5. Remixer Name: Gario Real Name: Greg E-mail: UserID: 22898 Game: Final Fantasy IX Arrangement Name: The Throes of Death(guise) Tracks Arranged: Battle 2, Final Battle, Battle 1, Dark Messenger Comments: This is my submission for the FFIX album's 'Battle 2' theme. About a year ago, after finishing a track for another album I decided that I needed to fill the void with something else. I decided to take a glance at the FFIX album, which was asking for a few tracks to be taken care of, including the boss theme from the game. I was... very surprised that no one had taken one of the best boss themes to grace the FF series, so I decided to take a shot at it. The result ended up being a solid electronic track with orchestral strings and some sweet, sweet synth guitar, and it's one that I'm proud to say is one of my best, to date. The source was a challenge to say the least, though - while there are a lot of parts that are easy to create a drive behind, there are plenty more integral parts in the source that lend more to subtle, atmospheric intensity (which my track was not set up to tackle), so for a good while progress halted. One day I got the bright idea, rather than try to change the pace of the track for the sake of subtlety and atmosphere, to instead add intense and interesting parts from other battle themes in FFIX, so I got to incorporating a lot of the final battle, as well as more subtle hints of the battle theme and Dark Messenger throughout. As a result, this track becomes a love letter to all of the battle music in Final Fantasy IX, and I'm not ashamed to admit my love for the battle music provided by that game. ----------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQ3MKtNSOLQ - battle 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz9q6PXk3dI - final battle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r50bTK49Gzc - battle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghSi6_hbpo8 - dark messenger

Extra info: "So one day, I got this reply on an old video on YouTube that I commented on. Then, I realized, "Hm, I think I've improved enough for a remix of this track. Let's give it a shot." I started formulating an arrangement for this on Notepad. When I finished sequencing this, I ended up using over 16 instances of Massive and everything else was FM8 and Zebra. I gotta say, Native Instruments makes some awesome plugins. - Timaeus http://m-pcr.co.cc/ http://timaeusproductions.bandcamp.com/ Source: Jazz Jackrabbit 2 - Hell Freezes Over"
  7. This is a fun adaption of the original. There's a lot of nice textures here, and the approach overall is nicely personalized. I agree with Andrew that things do feel a bit repetitious overall, but I also agree that it's not to a point where it dips below the bar. I'd have liked a bit more in terms of sonic variation in the overall, but that's also a nitpick. I definitely think that while this isn't breaking new barriers, it has a lot of personalization that makes it a fun listen. YES
  8. From The Joker: "So, we got another track to add to the project that is on the TBJ list. It's "Doom Troopers - Skull-Head" by Mak Eightman. If it passes please keep it on the Album list, if it doesn't, then it'll still be a damn good filler track for BadAss."
  9. Hey guys! It's post-Otakon, and I have some leftover special shirts that are waiting to go to some forever homes! Because I have limited sizes on these shirts, I'm letting them go for sale prices. Some listings only have 1 left, so check them out quick! I had some special models for these shirts as well. Thanks to Stevo, Shariq, David, and Troy for helping out! Tank top for girls! Image limit reached!
  10. Sorry you're not getting teh nekkids, but congrats on becoming a judge!
  11. I already yessed this before, but I think that you've definitely worked hard to take the judge's criticisms to heart and really work on improving. I agree with Andrew that the synths are pretty well-used here, so they are fitting into the soundscape and not overstaying their welcome. I also felt the drum sounds were overall weak in the soundscape, and overall could have used a little more oomph. The arrangement definitely has more of that personal feel, so kudos on achieving that! You've come a long way, and while there's more to go, you're certainly on the right track! YES
  12. I was definitely feeling this a lot more once the guitar came in and the soundscape filled out a bit more. Definitely agreed with the gentlemen that the overall thin soundscape is one of the detriments to the mix. If that were the only issue, I could see this being a yes, but when it's combined with the mixing being a little off, and the sudden ending, I think this squeaks just under the bar. Certainly a good candidate for a resub! NO (resubmit, please!)
  13. Fun source, especially since I just judged a track that included the same one! Your take here is a bit on the conservative side in terms of structure and overall style change, but I think there's a ton of personalization and your approach gives it a lot of life. There's quite a bit of energy, as well, which is good to hear, and keeps me interested. I will agree with Andrew that there are a few things (drums, some of the synths) that aren't quite where they need to be, but they are also not in a position to be a dealbreaker here. Nice work. YES
  14. I think Emu's judgement here is spot on; it's hard to realize just how difficult it can be to combine sources like this until you try to do it yourself, and even then the complexity you had of combining them back and forth adds to it! I will agree that I wasn't completely sold on all the sounds, but I think as a whole everything does indeed work together. I'll be looking forward to you next mashup soon! YES
  15. Resending with the link will be fine :)

  16. Nothing wrong with being a brony, IMO! I definitely prefer zipper hoodies, too, but they are hard to find, and generally fairly expensive as well. If you are interested in having a hoodie printed, we could work something out if you want to buy one and ship it to my place for me to print and ship back to you.
  17. Doing a full run of these shirt designs isn't quite worth it for OCR, so I am personally printing them per order. They will be available pretty normally through me Personally I am not super picky with my shirt quality, but the brands I buy are Gildan (same brand as the store-offered OCR shirts) or Jerzees. I currently am getting them from Joann fabrics, Micheals, or A.C. Moore, so if you have one of those nearby you can check out the quality in person!
  18. I've just recently published my etsy shop, which is pretty awesome on it's own, but what's even MORE awesome is that I am offering some limited edition OC ReMix merchandise! I currently have our 2012 T-Shirts -designed by OA- which feature the OCR logo in a classy shield design along with the site name on front, and the URL in the back. (The pictures are links!) Also featured are our women's T-shirts. This design was also made by OA! There's MORE! Want a regular OCR shirt customized with your screen name on the back? I'm offering this service! And last but not least! Dice bags! A portion of each OC ReMix sale goes directly towards the site, so you are supporting OCR and getting sweet swag, too! While you are looking, please check out my other listings as well! I have more dice bags designs on the way, and some other products that I am working on as well. Check it out and get 'em while they're hot!
  19. This is a completely fun arrangement, and I really enjoyed how you worked with things here. All the glitching is used very well, and nothing feels like it's being used as a gimmick, but as an integral part of the piece. I can see what Andrew is saying about the snare, but it's not bothering me as much. I'm definitely good for giving this a pass, but I might adjust my vote to get this back to you if overs are favoring the other side. YES
  20. Andrew's got this pretty much spot on. Really love the obscure source, and I think the arrangement ideas you have are excellent so far, and I would totally dig if you could add even like a minute to the arrangement. The production has some quirks. Andrew brought up the reverb, and I will definitely echo him on that. I also felt like the soundscape was a bit static after a while, and would have liked some bigger sonic changes. The end sections are also a bit muddy due to volumes, although that might still be the reverb playing with my ears. Really a lot of fun, I hope you fix this up for us! NO (resubmit, please)
