The Extra Credits thread!! EC is amazing!
Malaki-LEGEND.sys replied to big giant circles's topic in General Discussion
Let's not revisit the shit storm that was the Metroid Other M thread. Anyway, what can we sum up from this episode? That yet again, in the mind of the western gamer, if she doesn't look or act JUST like Alyx Vance or some other such character, she's a terribly designed character. Furthermore, I remain astonished at the "third eye" clairvoyance that the gaming public seems to possess at large in discerning a character out of a robotic husk(Gordan Freeman/Samus Aran). Maybe Jane Mcgonigal is right and gamers CAN actually save the world. -
I agree with Ramaniscence. She should just frolic around naked, and I'll be more than satisfied.

Then get out of ranked matches. That's a sure fire way to get slaughtered. Also try sticking to playing with your friends. If you're still losing and wanna whine more about it, well there ain't much more I can tell you other than take a page from Sean Connery's book about winners and losers.

Has little less than jack shit to do with the point I was making, which has a lot more to do with getting paid to waste time on what a bunch of people may think is a stupid game, as opposed to doing something "productive" like finding the cure for cancer or something. Is today "deconstruct every analogy so we can avoid owning up to the original point" day?

Those fucking basketball players. Wasting all their time practicing a dumb game and actually getting paid for it.

Push blocking is your best friend in these scenarios.

So after listening to the soundtrack to Catherine for awhile, I'm pretty much finally convinced that the Japanese have a serious thing for Freud and 18-19th century music/composers.

So watching some Felicia combo footage... I love my cat. It's always a sight to see when I see other players take my favorite characters to levels I never even thought of before.

So is this a fighter, or just an outlet for you to grief people, Bardic? Anyway so I finally finished Resonance of Fate(good game that would have been better condensed), so now I'll be coming back to MvC3. I'm pretty sure most of you have the mechanics down and will be able to wail on my ass consistently. This is pretty telling about the game's accessibility to a larger audience. Naturally you still might get your ass handed to you by someone who knows what they're doing, but the idea that somebody doesn't need to go hardcore nuts to learn a character as long as they understand how the game works to be competent and have fun is a good one.

It's the push to make them more accessible to the mainstream. Pretty soon we're going to have games that let you wail on people with just one button. ...Oh wait... My biggest issue with the game is hardly gameplay related though. It's the online component, which is sorely lacking. In fact, I find it odd that the fighter to have the best online component this generation is DOA4, which was released in 2006. Super Street Fighter IV came close, but still doesn't hit the mark IMO. The online component for MvC3 feels just as bad if not worse than Street Fighter IV back in '09. The producer goes on to mention the issues faced with online spectator mode, but it's pretty much agreed upon that it's basically a bogus claim. Even were it true, that still doesn't explain why trying to find ranked matches is such a painful ordeal.

The idea of being crap at the beginning and getting better at something you enjoy with time and practice is still the same, so the comparison is quite valid.

I sincerely hope this isn't how you deal with real life problems. Nobody in any fighting game community will ever tell you that Sagat isn't bogus in SF4 or that Arakune or Hakumen in BB aren't OP, or that Sentinel is the bane of anyone's MvC experience. They WILL however figure out strategies on how to take them down and rise above them, BECAUSE they enjoy the game so much. Even Justin Wong admits that it's a game first and foremost and you should enjoy it. Why the shit would anyone play a game they didn't think was fun? I'm pretty sure that's the textbook definition of "counter intuitive". Yeah man, those musicians. Why the hell do they spend so much time practicing? They should be able to pull off those crazy techniques right from the start.
-
My advice to anyone having issues with the game right now. Quit crying about it and try to suck less. That or just play arcade or against your(worse) friends all day. This coming from a dude who is hardly tournament level.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't enabling the 3D force the game to draw the same images twice? It makes sense(at least in my mind) that this would lead to decreased battery life, as well as the brightness setting(assuming that 1 is the strongest). I'm willing to bet that with 3D and brightness off, the system can easily hit 8 to 10 hours.

You have it mixed up. Once a large portion of the gamer mass stops falling into said negative stereotypes and wise up, the media bombardments will cease as the media can only cater to what people want. If they don't want it, it stops. The idea that it's the media's fault is as irresponsible and lazy as putting the blame for misbehaved, spoiled, _insert problem here_ children on anyone but the parents. For the record, you don't see most gamers lambasting Dante's Inferno because it essentially rapes classic literature. Hell I'd be surprised if most of them even know who Dante Alighieri is. -
So tomorrow's my Bday... I need about 25 beatings or so, so who wants to do this? I'll probably be on Live from the afternoon onward.

Guys. Winning is cheap. If you win, you're cheap.

Which is why I used many more examples. Regardless of anything, they're part of the audience as well however.
