Gonna pick up my car, pick up the parts, then head home, so yeah I'm down.
-
Personally I find it much easier to just push all 3 buttons at once, since the two far right buttons feel like "no man's land" and kind of throw off my finger positions. Also, my parts are in!.... At the post office. Gotta pick 'em up later, but hurray, time to mod this bitch.

So a couple of things. First, friggin' awesome matches and I absolutely LOVE the endless battle lobby system. Seriously, I was almost late for class just 'cause I couldn't stop watching our matches. On that note, hopefully I won't suck so bad next time. Also fuck Zircon's Hakan. Second, Sakura has a diagonal shinku hadouken... *drool* Third, is it just me, or is the Madcatz SE fightstick responding much better to the triple button inputs with SSFIV as opposed to SFIV? I'm reliably pulling off ultras left and right while I was having problems with one button pressing too early in SFIV. Strange... Anyway, good times, and we need to do more fightin'. Also yes Ibuki has 9 target combos.

Yeah I'm already doing that online playing with Zircon and Bardic. Get on, people!
-
I'll be picking it up in a bit, but I gotta get some homework done, then help my stepdad put in the new starter to my car, then actually practice with my characters for a bit(still getting used to the stick), so I'll be on sometime for matches in the afternoon. 360 tag is Malakhim. Add me, suckas.

What time are we all hoppin' on?
-
Maxed out.

My car broke down. I have to take it in tomorrow to figure out whether it's the computer or the timing/starer belt after spending the whole day figuring out it's not a blown fuse or the battery, and these people like to take their sweet time, which means I might not have it to pick up the game Tuesday morning. Fuck. Also, Zircon probably just made another Fei Long remix since he hates the new version with all the hate he can muster.

Take your date to your friend's house to play Super Street Fighter IV. Maybe she'll like Chun-Li. Just 2 more days. Seriously cannot wait, and I'm still sucking ass online with my new stick, so hopefully we can all have a bunch of matches with the new lobby system so I can get some practice in. But seriously, go on the date.

So I got my stick earlier today. Won't be able to get the parts to customize it 'til next week or so, but from the little demoing I'm doing so far, I can definitely taste the difference. Too bad it's just in training mode so far...
-
Does the pop before and after count? If so I can hear all the way to 22. If not, 18. 24 years old and always around music.
-
I can't even play Street Fighter IV until next week. It's quite strange.

Alright, so I've decided that I'm gonna go all out with this custom job for my stick. Already got the stick and the parts on the way, gonna pick out some artwork(probably something Yoshitaka Amano or Ayami Kojima) and change it with the stock, and gonna give the base a new paintjob. I'll post some pics of the before and after once I'm done. Also, just a week left. I hope to see y'all on Xbox Live.

Yeah, the fact that they kept your BoTA remix intact in HDR is a testament to how good it is. I also agree the new Fei Long theme is kinda lackluster. Looks like you're SOL, Zircon. It looks like enough people on the dev team really REALLY hate Fei Long. Also, Standard Edition stick bought. I'm gonna take my chances for awhile, see how I like the parts, the joystick gate, etc., and then if I have to mod, decide what kind of parts I'd like to go with. From all the tutorials I've seen on the stick, it looks pretty mod-friendly. Maybe someone in charge of designing the innards of the sticks over at Madcatz is a clairvoyant...
-
Yay, new themes! Finally. I was wondering why Balrog, Vega and Rufus didn't actually get themes. So can anyone tell me what they think of the Madcatz SE Fightstick? I could get one for cheap, however I hear that there a certain problems with the stick, specifically that the ring holding the stick isn't centered shut, so it scrapes against the circuit board, basically bricking the stick unless you replace the parts. Also:

I'm gonna sound off on this stick vs. pad discussion by adding that I'm a pretty competent player with just the 360 d-pad, and if Zircon's statistic about 1 out of 100 top level players using a pad, well all that does is further prove the point that pads can be used just as effectively. It's all about what you've gotten used to. I'm not denouncing sticks at all though, and I personally wanna give it a shot(although the stories I hear about the SE stick scare me), although I've never been used to them even as a kid. To each his own. But anyway, so while watching an Ibuki vs. Dudley match, I couldn't help but realize that I was totally digging the music to the Solar Eclipse stage. Totally mellow.
-
I'm gonna have a hard time picking between Ibuki, Sakura, and Juri. Maybe Cody or Guy as well.
-
fffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
-
So Super Street Fighter IV is going to add 10 new characters, and who is everyone online gonna pick? Ken.
-
If you're having trouble finding motivation to play after just chapter 11, then do I have bad news for you.
-
So I finally grabbed this for the 360 a few nights ago, and I just downloaded Bass mode and special stage 1. They should just call this game Protoman & Bass. For serious. Why would I want to use Megaman if those two are so badass? Overall I think the game is great. And hard. Oh so very hard.

Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews
Malaki-LEGEND.sys replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
He wasn't nearly as vitriolic as I thought he'd be. Guess its a good thing he didn't play more than 5 hours. For the record though, I actually enjoyed everything about the game save the pacing until Cha.12 when shit goes bonkers. -
I know people who freaked out about there being a timer in a certain area in a game. Trust me, needs to be something really simple.

The only reasonable difference I can think of between "casual" and "hardcore" games would probably be learning curve, which is why puzzle games(Tetris and Hexic, not Braid or PB Winterbottom) are somehow lumped into the group. They're not games that are designed to pull you in to a huge and immersive world with a linear progression and system within system of game mechanics. You make the blocks fit with eachother and you win. That's it. A monkey could be trained to do it, and that's what it really comes down to: Accessibility. If there's anything that 5 years of Psychology and personal experience is that people are generally dumb, impatient, and can't be assed to read a TV manual, much less learn how to micromanage units in Starcraft. "Casual" is just a short way of saying "So easy, a caveman could do it". Does this somehow demean the games themselves? Are they any less of games for it? Hardly. I'll echo my previous statement. If it's fun, that's all that should matter. If playing something simple helps you unwind, then more power to you. I know that while I love games with complex, skill-based systems and flashy graphics, sometimes I need something simple. Pokemon is pretty intensive as far as games go. Calling it a game just for kids is pretty deceptive, and if you like games that might not be as brown and full of bloom lighting, who cares? Play what you want, and if they have an aversion to a game just because "it has kiddy graphics", well it's their loss.
