I don't think I'm particularly interested in Kinect just yet, although I DO like the new 360 model. The built-in WiFi sounds great, although knowing MS they might try to gouge the price using the new functionality as an excuse. Still, if the system doesn't generate as much heat/noise as a 747 and isn't as expensive, then I might just bite sometime down the road. And has anyone noticed that publishers/the big 3 have been blowing their loads a bit too early for the actual show? Either they've got some serious surprises planned for the actual conferences, or this is going to be a pretty mundane E3. Either way, what a great week. E3 AND the world cup at the same time. Love it.

Well, it's official. We have a new Mortal Kombat game in the works.

I've liked the Mortal Kombat series consistently, although the last one I played was MK4(which I liked). I always wanted to get a chance to play Trilogy... I saw this stuff on 1up earlier. I wonder what's coming if anything.

After playing with it as long as I have, I feel like it responds much better than the 360 controller by far. In fact, I can barely play Ibuki without it. Of course I wasn't doing TERRIBLE with the controller, but my game is that much better now.

Yeah mine's still in good shape thus far. I try to be pretty careful with it, but I think I'm gonna have to stop letting my friends mash like crazy on the thing. It's funny how I see them struggling with basic link combos, and I just pull these things off no sweat now. Feels great Anyway, I got a new mic now, so I can communicate properly. Well I've just realized that after playing with the stick for about a month, I can't go back to the pad. It's like I can feel every single flaw with it every time I try to touch it. Seriously ruins my game.

Well I guess the entire internet is awesome at coping, because dealing with watching your mother(to whom you're very attached to as opposed to a nearly absent father) die due to being caught up in a stupid government initiative that you had nothing to do with, and then having your entire normal life destroyed by shit you can't change at a very young age is something that I'd imagine a normal person would have a hard time taking. I'd hate to see you people at funerals. The one problem I have with Hope is that later in the game his personality does a total 180 and he turns into the one-man cheerleading squad for the team.

The fact that it has Spanish terminology(which I guess from a pride standpoint is interesting to me) and music(ok the music is fucking great for the most part) doesn't change the fact that it has every shounen anime cliche ever used before. Of course if you like it, more power to you. I like the art(outside of the anime, like all that G-SEED/GSD art) and music myself, but that's about it. Point is, if you've seen DBZ, you've seen every other shounen anime.

And yet the vocal work is still total shit. I do like the new intro and outtro, and fuck of course I'll still watch it. It's fucking Dragonball.

They were perfectly fine at 50, and could have even stood to go a bit lower. Hell, look at Super Mario RPG. For as long as I could remember seeing this game on the retail shelf, it was a good $80. I never bought it. Why? Not because I couldn't have saved enough cash to grab it at one point, but because of the value proposition. No game on this earth is worth 80 bucks. I could have found plenty of things worth buying that I'd actually need. had it been 50 or less? I might have grabbed it without question. But another point is that if you're not cool with game prices, then don't buy 'em at those prices. Don't buy used copies either. Wait 'til the prices go down. That's putting your money where your mouth is.

...There are FFXIII fanboys? I don't think anyone here is saying it's their favorite FF by a longshot. Definitely the prettiest with great battle system and a decent plot(until it goes apeshit towards the end of the second disc), but best FF ever? I think the entire internet can concur that this is not the case. That being said, the whole linearity argument is getting pretty old, as that's pretty much a staple of JRPGs as a whole since FFX, which isn't to say that you aren't right about it being one big corridor, but a certain degree of linearity is to be expected when playing a JRPG. As for the rest of your complaints, well they're perfectly valid. I personally didn't have that big of a problem with not having NPCs around or huge towns to explore, in fact I actually liked the fact that they removed most of that fluff(because like Jeremy Parish pointed out on the ATB podcast, he thinks that SE doesn't really do towns well, and I tend to agree). All in all, Final Fantasy XIII is an enjoyable game(I can agree with your B-, albeit for different reasons) that is marred by problems probably associated with a rushed release schedule. Friends tell me that months later, they still haven't finished the game, and I say it's perfectly fine, since it seems that the developers didn't either.

Well SE had originally stated that they wanted to use their Crystal Tools engine for all their current(HD) generation games, which would also include Versus. Also, being that the toolset was built to be a multiplatform set, it isn't unreasonable to think that Versus could be brought to the 360(and PC, damnit!) with relative ease. Funny though that in a statement, the director of FFXIII thought that it was a "mistake" to create the engine. This kind of statement wouldn't surprise me at all however, seeing as most of the time spent on FFXIII was probably spent on finishing the engine. You are right however that Nomura mentioned that there'd be sort of an action style reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts a few years back, so we'll have to see how that works out. Either way, I'm sure we'll much more about Versus XIII and XIV at this years E3 now that FFXIII is out of the way.

That's what I thought at first, but then I remembered that certain scenes looked pretty god awful compared to some others, so I dunno. I also thought the limit on a current DVD was 9 gigs or so, so that clears that up. Either way, it was a pretty shoddy A/V compression job, and I certainly wouldn't have minded the game shipping with one extra disc, although I'm sure SE would have, given that it would have increased costs for them.
