Hells ya. I tried to get a Pittsburgh meetup started a year ago but it fell through. Wouldn't mind giving it another shot tho.

I wanna come so bad but I have to work I found out about this from yodaisbetter a few days ago. If only I had known a little earlier I could have called off. I'm going to see The Cruxshadows tonight downtown Pittsburgh.

Just finished Chapter 4. SPOILER: the whole subway part was fucking nuts crazy as hell!! /SPOILER HOLY CRAP. This game is amazing. Decent difficulty and so far I've some some freaking insane encounters.

Wow. I just downloaded the demo tonight and I'm hooked. I cannot wait for this game and its only two days til its out.

I know."It features the same versatility as Apple's GarageBand" which should have really been the hint that it sucked Lead guitar can only play six notes? Rhythm guitar can only have one type of effect and only one scale? Keyboard is supposed to be a placeholder for vocals? The drums are the only decent part of the custom song studio. Its great for anyone who doesn't know shit about music. Anyway, I would love to see this, but I would love to see it as actual songs and not the custom bullshit thats in GHWT.

I think people are missing the idea that even games that aren't labeled survival horror can be scary. Super Metroid is downright terrifying and it lacks many of the things Zipp mentions in his first post. Shadow of the Colossus is frightening when you face the first colossus with almost no instruction whatsoever. The first Oblivion gate in Elder Scrolls 4 was quite scary and menacing. The dwarf mines and various underground fortresses in both Elder Scrolls 3 and 4 can set people on edge. Even Halo had its moments with the flood that were a bit frightening. Condemned and Condemned: Bloodshot were both pretty creepy in the early stages. They're not shining examples (with the exception of Super Metroid) but they all have parts that are pretty scary and they are not by any means considered survival horror games. I also think that survival horror is becoming more like stealth gameplay, there's a few games that do it well and a lot of games that use it as part of a larger gameplay idea.

Oh hell ya. That who album is just gushing with emotion. The end of "Sons of Fate" is just epic and beautiful. When Megaman yells "The Fight of Protomaaaaaaann!" as the Humans sing behind him. Anyone who loves Megaman and rock n roll owes it to themselves to listen to The Protomen album.

When I was a kid: I had nightmares about the Wallmasters from Zelda-LttP. By the time I played Oot, I had gotten over the fear of them I couldn't play Super Metroid in the dark. Fucking creepy game. Super Mario 64, the eel was pretty scary looking. Now: I have an incredibly powerful fear of bugs and buglike creatures. The worst was probably Shadow of the Colossus. That damn bug one that crawls up the walls was seriously freaking me out. I hated that level. Even the music from that level creeps me out. Oblivion was pretty damn scary when I went through the first gate at Kvatch. The atmosphere, the pacing, everything was just goddamn creepy.

Started playing violin, then moved to trumpet in fourth grade. When Mario Paint came out, it was my first taste at writing music, and my hunger for it has never stopped since. My intense love for video games also translated into a love for the music of them. And then of course OCR blew my mind and I said "Some day I will be on that site." Now I am And I'm auditioning to enter the music school at Duquesne University. Not to mention various projects I've done over the years. I decided music was my true passion because out of all the things I liked to do (video, photoshop, drawing) music is the only one that I continually pushed forward in and really worked the hardest at.

Yeah KyleJCrb has a great example. Also check out the Makeup and Vanity Set remix of The Protomen album. Really great stuff. Sabrepulse also does some neat things (granted most of his songs are more than just chiptunes, but a few of them are quite impressive to see what he accomplishes with only two Gameboys)

Well I already have 100 songs (the maximum allowed for Excite Truck) on my SD card, but they don't really fit the game because obviously, they aren't written specifically for the game. The project would just be a fun exercise to make some fun music for background in a fun game. Its for fun. Kind of like everything on this site.

So I've had this idea kicking around that it would be awesome to have custom songs for Excite Truck, especially since the game lets you assign songs specifically to certain tracks. And let's face it, the music in Excite Truck is cool, but really its just rock n roll filler music. I was wondering what kind of interest anyone might have in doing a fun little project to create a custom soundtrack for Excite Truck. One (or more) songs for each track. Since each track has a set time limit, the songs should be written to slowly build from mildly exciting to a powerful epic climax as the clock approaches zero. So what does everyone think?
