Well, I grabbed some better cables, hooked the guitar straight into my computer and than used Logic's gain boost along with the denoiser and Guitar Amp Pro. I have to say the results are quite stellar! Thanks for all your help!

Metal Gear Solid 3 Theme - Trance WIP - updated 12/1
Cerrax replied to Strike911's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Damn that is a sexy song. -
Okay. I want to record guitar BUT, I am not in a situation that allows me to purchase any expensive equipment (by expensive I mean more than $50). SO, the challenge is, how do I get the best sound from my guitar with the set up below? 1 Gibson guitar 1 Dean Markley Amp 1 iMac G5 Logic Express 7.2 The guitar goes into the amp, then out of the amp and into the line-in on my computer. I currently have Logic's denoiser set up and I think I've got it set as best as I can (unless there is a Logic user who can suggest a better set up for the denoiser). The biggest problem is that for it to not get too fuzzy and horrible, I have to set the gate and reduction quite high. This makes low velocity notes come out garbled or not at all. And held notes tend to do the same thing as they decay. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I haven't thought of that. I'll give it a shot. Thanks. They are playing the melody as well as whole notes. Low strings are playing whole notes while the higher strings are playing the melody with the horns. Maybe I'll just shorten that section. I thought it might bring a little closure to the piece as it fades from the main theme back to the little prelude (if you can call four notes a prelude). Thanks for your help. I'll take what you have said into consideration.

*Hugs with homosexual inuendo* So "good mix" isn't very descriptive. Encouraging, but I want to know what you think shown be added/improved and what is already good. This one is going all the way. I have a feeling this one might be worthy. My last mix was very close just a tad...well, boring. So fire away!

Yay! I just got my free VGDJ button! It was kind of funny when my girlfriend checked my mail and asked "Who's Jill?". I was very confused until I saw the envelope!

VERSION 1: http://www.cerrax.com/Welcome%20to%20the%20Legend.mp3 VERSION 2: http://www.cerrax.com/Welcome%20To%20The%20Legend%20v2.mp3 The remix is very heavily inspired by the style of E.S. Posthumous and that should be pretty obvious as you listen to it. Other than that, I want to know what you guys think! Enjoy! Please tell me what to do better with this one! I'm going to send this to the judges eventually.

HELL YES. RKA had an awesome soundtrack and the Boss theme is incredibly bad ass.

So you missed the parts with destructible environments, crawling, and possible low-gravity stages? Not to mention the new Smash Bros symbol that enables Super Moves? There was destructable environments in SSBM. Brinstar and Ness's stage to an extent were destructable. Final Destination was low-grav when you fought Master Hand, for that matter. Crawling, though, I did miss. Can't really think of how it would work all that well in 3D (unless there's going to be split-screen). Super moves, blah. Seen it in Power Stone. I wouldn't really call Brinstar and Onett destructible stages. Two little platforms tipping over and a few awnings falling down aren't the same as entire platforms exploding and the whole stage being reduced to tiny clouds.

I'm hoping that track 5 DOOM is still open. Because I think I'd like to give that a try. I'll post a WIP soon, but here's a few samples of stuff I've been working on recently: (Please keep in mind that I havce recently purchased Logic 7, so my abilities will be greatly enhanced by not being forced into shit by Garage Band.) http://remix.thasauce.net/mixer/20/ (My profile on Remix: ThaSauce) http://www.cerrax.com/Kraid%20new%203.mp3 (My newest WIP, a remix of Kraid's Lair from Metroid)

I know, I know. I've been MIA for a while but now I'm back. I had a good Ganon remix going but I lost it because something terrible went wrong with GB and it won't play it. Fear not! My WIP will make the deadline! Just to let you know I've got a lot on my plate. Pokemon Project (3 songs) Mega Man 4 Project (1 song) CtC Project (1 song) Remix: ThaSauce Arbiter Newgrounds MAC6 November (1 song) Not to mention un-internet stuff like school, 2 jobs, a girlfriends, family, friends....

Okay so I've been tossing around this idea for some time and with my recent purchase of Logic 7 I have come up with this song. It is Kraid's Lair from Metroid. A very well known and often used song, but never been done as a rap song. Here's what I've got so far. Any comments help, and or rap lyrics would be appreciated. (I am white and and I can't rap worth a damn ) Go ahead gimme the good the bad and the ugly: http://www.cerrax.com/Kraid%20new%203.mp3

Don't you just love it when you completely lose internet access for a few months while trying to move all of your shit across town? By the way, I'm back. Burnt Tower and S S Anne are getting a complete overhaul, and now that I am a pround owner of Logic 7 Viridian Forest will be mastered in awesome quality. And this time I'll actually do this stuff

Random Questions about Random Programs
Cerrax replied to Hy Bound's topic in Music Composition & Production
I'm not saying I don't believe you. I'm saying that I don't think his processor's speed is the problem. Maybe the RAM isn't his problem, but since my 1.7 GHz can run 10 samples with Garage Band, I can't imagine that the processing speed is the problem, considering his is twice as fast as mine. -

Well I can't imagine that his 3.2GHz processor is havinga problem with EWQLSO because mine's only 1.7GHz and as long as my buffer stays small, it works fine. And I'm using Garage Band (the most CPU sucking program ever) -
Nice little logo thingy for the forums. Where'd you get that from?

Random Questions about Random Programs
Cerrax replied to Hy Bound's topic in Music Composition & Production
First of all, CPU speed has little to do with your problem. Its all about how much RAM you have. If you're running 10 samples from EWQLSO on it, you probably have about 1 GB of RAM huh? Second, I see that you are using Ableton Live, so this suggestion is probably worthless(because you pr0bably want to use it live,), but if you drop the preload buffer size and the voice buffer size as far as they go (48 KB) you can get a lot more performance out of EWQLSO at the cost of mucho mucho latency. I use this because I don't do anything live and I only have 512 MB of RAM. Works like a charm and doesn't harm sound quality at all. But this technique will greatly affect latency. Please keep that in mind. Especially since you are using a program built for live playing and recording. -
OLD. This has been on Newgrounds forever. But its is pretty cool. Not a stunning example, but very cool nonetheless.
