Cyril the Wolf replied to DarkeSword's topic in General Discussion
Any chance I could join the 30th show? I think it'd be fun esp after magfest. -

Yea! I knew I had to bring my A-game with you in the bracket with me (also see: Nutritious) Yours was pretty intensely awesome, more intense and indepth comments forthcoming

Damn, she gave me chills... 44 is far too young.

Cosmic Sounds: Whoa, that is ONE heck of a soundscape. I really enjoy how you took something that was sort of a straightforward chiptune and really gave it a sort of new dreamy take that would be like in the "Ultra HD Remix" version of the game I would think. Very 3D Final Fantasy to my ears. That being said though, it didn't stick in my ears as much as the original or the other entries in this round did. Gario: All I can say is UNF to that sick acidic bass sound you have going. I will admit that when it first started I was like "WHY IS THE KICK ALL SNAP AND NO SUB BASS" but you brought in the sub for me later so I forgive you. I really enjoyed how you amplified the source's feel and gave it a sense of urgency. Also I appreciated the layers you had going on. I feel like the reverb on the strings could have been toned back just a touch, but I really like stark soundscapes. Hylian Lemon: How dare you incorporated two sources! I really enjoy how you melded them together though, it worked pretty well in my opinion. The chip backing I feel like was a little... weird an distracting when it came in, not sure if it was the sound or if I just feel like the combo between that synth being used as a pad plus the additional chorded tones just overcomplicates it for me, overall though I really dug your arrangement and production values. Supercoolmike: While I think I see the direction you were going with this, it was a little quiet My main issue with it is that to my ears it just sounds like the source tune nigh-verbatim slowed down, and while I appreciate epic final boss music I feel like the energy loss was very apparent in this case. Maybe if it had some more activity in the woodwinds in the form of quick arps and.or counter-melodies it would have gotten the idea across a lot more. Quick Q: Can I upload my entry to my youtube with Download or would you rather me wait until the competition is over?

Voting: 1. Gario 2. Hylian Lemon 3. Cosmic Sounds

Is this where I come to complain about how difficult Virt's melodies are to replicate? Cuz I kinda want to. Nothing like a hella tight rhythm track to match me vaguely attempting to play a melody xD

How do you mix/master your albums?
Cyril the Wolf replied to WillRock's topic in Music Composition & Production
I mix things separately when doing albums, but I am not above doing small tweaks to make sure there's not any HUGE inconsistencies. Mastering definitely done all at once i typically have a single project file set up with each track having it's own mastering chain so I can adjust on the fly and A/B as I got on. Mastering usually takes me a day or two just to make sure I'm hearing right. -
I'm really glad this keeps posting because I have to finalize buggers.

Any OCR artists with work on iTunes?
Cyril the Wolf replied to Garpocalypse's topic in General Discussion
https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/cyril-the-wolf/id641262712 is where you can find my personal output https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/state-of-the-union/id673271072 is my band's album (I'm on bass) -
Today I learned I'm back to heavily modified push-ups. (Doing it on an ottoman!! The sadness is palpable. I know the better route for really good gains is spread out really intense training but I think I'm trying to get my "feet wet" again so I'll just do progressively more training each morning until I'm not dying after 10 minutes, once I can do simple stuff for 30 minutes I'll give the rest of it a go. I feel like doing basic calisthenics is great for me because it circumvents nearly all my de-motivators and just gets me moving.

What are some good sites to sell your music?
Cyril the Wolf replied to MikeViper's topic in Music Composition & Production
Patreon is great. I use it and while I need to market myself a bit more to get it bigger it really has saved my bacon. Patreon is great because it can either be monthly (like OCR) or per work (like myself) and I find the per work model to be great because that way I don't have an off month where I don't make anything and have people pay me for not working as hard as I should to get content out. -

finished Dancin' on Brinstar (Super Metroid)
Cyril the Wolf posted a topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Source: Remix: I consider this done, not familiar with this style so feedback always appreciated, that way I can make the next one better. I'm 90% certain this isn't interpretive enough for OCR standards, but hey one can never go wrong with brinstar. I missed the deadline for the OCR Xmas album xD my bad
