  1. Stylin' There are a few issues with this one, especially the ending, but it's exceptionally charming, and the vision for it sounds very precise. I think that it being recorded so dry sounding really makes it feel like it has everything meticulously planned. Changes are super tight, and that Steely Dan rock tango sound is totally present. A great introduction to ilp0, and his other stuff is great too, check it out!
  2. The lead guitar tone at the beginning is all kinds of wretched, but the playing is ok, if not overly loose (and by loose i mean exceptionally loose). My god, that trombone is excellent. Now I know why this passed. Once it hits the ska sections, it really sounds good. Trombone solo is as good as i'd expect it to be. Great playing and tastefully proficient with a perfect blend of flash and melody. Guitar solo is good too, which makes me wonder why does the guitar sometimes sound really solid, and other times just sloppy? Seems like some sections could have been redone. Organ solo was hot as well. Nice playing, leading to a great build. So besides some distractingly gross guitar in some spots, this mix is super hot. Nice work, gents.
  3. This is pretty weaksauce compared to other Goatly tracks, held back by poor samples that are poorly used. The arrangement itself is really hot, and if it had some feeling behind it, it could really shine. Scaredsim or Sixto both have reputations for taking good arrangements and making them really come alive. Maybe they should collab and save this one. Or better yet, even Goat himself could update this one. Bottom line: great arrangement poorly done.
  4. I love ilp0's quirky genius, and this track is no exception. The varied sounds used throughout keep it progressing, and the sound effects and panning hold a lot of great surprises. His guitar playing style is really emotive too, but in a very playfully mechanical way. Like a little wind up toy that has a few dings in it, making it slightly unhinged. The filter on the lead tone helps this out, and ilp0's sonic signature is unmistakable. Overall this is an exceptionally crafted mix, and nothing else will sound like this.
  5. The atmosphere is cool and the drums are great, but yeah, this is pretty much a midi rip. The source is good at least.
  6. A great sonic palate here- there's a ton of variety without it losing that strong funk flavor. The textural shifts are well executed, as there is so much going on, and the little synth cameos are excellent. The clav is extra fun, and some stuff I can't even name. Really, this is like a journey through funk; there are so many sounds in this, I really like it.
  7. Beautiful stuff- I agree with the consensus of a touch more piano, but overall this is pro. Excellent performances. Highly recommended.
  8. One of my favorites from the SoS project, I'd consider this one of Justin's transition pieces, when he first emerged from his remixing cocoon. This is probably the mix that first started him onto a really cool sound, and it works really well. Drums get a little samey after awhile, though there are some excellent sections mixed in with the standard ones. Cain has some awesome lead tone on this and really kicks it up, but no rhythm guitar makes the lead sound a little floating. We can blame Justin for that oversight. Overall a great collab, and one that even got Fishy out of hibernation! WIN-WIN, IMO.
  9. I'm a fan of imeem, but i'm not sure if there is an embed widget, and it requires a (super basic but still there) registration to hear more than a few tracks. If there is some sort of widget I think it'd be a decent platform to go with
  10. This is a good mix! Nice keyboard solo, sounds like it was played by a real pro! It has good guitar tone and a powerful snare, so I can't ask for much more. It has a nice flow and some good additional parts. Nice work Simon!
  11. Yo John, I love your music, but the voice clips ruin it for me. Sorry man, no disrespect intended.
  12. This would be about three pretty good tracks on it's own, though the transitions and connections between the three are a bit tenuous. The guitar playing is fantastic, and the subtle details like the low string glissando's and the driving harpsichord make it a good track to listen to while contemplating where to hold your next poetry reading.
  13. Nice guitar playing on both counts, but what is up with that wimpy snare? The arrangement was pretty nice, and there were a lot of good textures.
  14. Go NOW! BIRTHDAY TEAM! if you want to finish that song, you'll PM me tonight!! (happy birthday)
  15. handcuffed him to a pipe and firebombed the place- I think he gave him a hacksaw too so he could potentially saw off his arm to escape.
  16. I've given up all hope this is ever going to come out. Sorry guys, it's not me; it's you.
  17. I demand a birthday duet from the both of you! Happy birthdays all around!
  18. Done at the end of the month? Quite likely. Released this month? Not so much. The super album release this month goes to Tales, and then it is a race for a few projects to get complete to see who releases next.
  19. I like Ken because he's American and has a fast car and a hot wife. :3
  20. ok, looks like i might be wrong >_> http://kotaku.com/5161587/the-esrb-rates-wii-final-fantasy-iv-sequel
  21. 3 platform release, IMO. I have absolutely no sources on this, but it feels right to me. Got another completed track and several more that are inching towards a final status. Things are moving a little slower than i'd like, but 41 completed tracks and it has been 11 months to the day is a pretty good track record.
  22. Completely awesome- I love the source songs- all of them, and this is great stuff. Excellent expression, especially in your strings, I am so happy to hear this. Highly recommended.
