  2. Remixer Name: Marc Junker Real Name: Marc Junker Email Address: Website: http://junker.ca Userid: 22188 Game: Swords & Sworcery Name of Arrangement: Light-hearted Flute Remix of Dark Flute by Jim Guthrie Info: A beautiful video game for iPad/iPhone. Truly inspiring. http://www.swordandsworcery.com/ Original track: I made this because I found the game incredibly inspiring — couldn't help it! Also a dearth of ios games on OC! I made it in Logic Pro. Just played it on a keyboard. Recorded a little bit of mandolin in there for some texture. Thank you kindly for considering this remix.
  3. I think Deia hit this one pretty well; the arrangement is good but could use some trimming. The drums are really nice, and have a good feel to them. Some of the lead synths are a bit plain sounding, but nothing that sticks out too far that it needs to be changed. There are several moments of distortion though, and I think the bass should be sidechained with the kick to keep things from getting distorted. Overall it's good and a pretty close vote, but it could use some extra polish. No, please resubmit
  4. I think that when Zircon's FF6 project comes out, you should get it right away. JUST SAYING.

Not Tomorrow 1 extended (ingame version) Not Tomorrow 3: Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind it, how it was made, etc.: The idea behind it was to extend the song "Not Tomorrow" by adding several other offical melodies, versions etc of this piece all together into one dramatic piano arrangement. This version of mine was quite popular on YouTube so I'd like to share it with OCRemix. It's my first contribution to OCRemix.

I've done my best fixing it as you suggested. I buffed my synth work overall, I tweaked my drums a bit, I added a bit of personality, but most of all I tried to fix the busy parts. Oh, and I tried to fix the intro as Deia suggested, but I really didn't know what to do I think I've heard the song too much now to be able to make such major changes in its progression. I hope it won't matter too much! Thanks again for your great comments, and enjoy!
  8. Remixer – Michael_Trickery Name – Michael D Email – Website - http://soundcloud.com/trickery_dnb User ID – 48795 Game – Pokémon Red/Blue Name – Gengar used Shadow Ball! Original – (Opening theme) Link - Notes – It was made as a personal challenge to do a remix of such an iconic tune. It was done in a ‘process music’ fashion – the original’s classic melody line was played in 3 sections, with balanced, independent chord progressions derived from each. Almost identical buildups were used to enter drops of surprisingly short length – it allows much variation in both texture and dynamics and for the whole theme to be exposed. The 3 sections are played with their resultant drops, then are combined for a longer more continuous section. By now, the theme itself has been lost somewhat and the idea is simply to create a big fat dancey DnB tune . The final section is complete beat science, with loads of references to recent tracks in DnB – serious +1 interwebz if anyone out there can recognise any of them. On the choices of sounds, the Amen break seemed to fit the 90s old schooly style and is top-endy enough not to be unsettled when the rhythm starts getting messed up. The lead line is a really simple saw/pulse mod wave from NI Massive with even less character than the original due to the lack of 8-bit snares and vibrato. The bottom end is dominated by a fat sub and reece-LFOd bassline, really giving it as much impact as possible and creating some kind of ‘randomness counterpoint’ due to the intermittent mids. Glitch FXs made sense due to the feel of the piece, dBlue’s Glitch multieffect was the order. Enjoy.
  9. This definitely plays it close to the source at times, but being 6:30, there is a lot of space for a slow burn arrangement-wise. I was really enjoying the sound and feeling of this track, with the drums that are energetic but not overbearing, and the piano break in the middle is excellent. It took me a few listens to decide whether or not it was personalized enough, but I do think it is a unique and worthy addition to OCR. Yes
  10. this is my first submission. I do know that there is a DnB Style Remix of DKC2 Stickerbrush Symphony already, but it sounds awful and too heavy in my opinion, but for other people it may be ok. Please listen to my rendition and consider it. I will include it as an attachment but you can also listen to it at Soundcloud: Contact Information: ReMixer Name: Aleksandar Goldstein (Email-Adress: ) Please don't make this public Website: Not available, but I also have a Youtube Channel where I played some VGM on Piano: http://www.youtube.com/user/MarkovicDeluxe UserID: Not available, since I'm not actively participating in the forums Submission Information: Name of Games Arranged: Donkey Kong Country 2 Name of Arrangement: Flying Brambles Name of individual songs arranged: Stickerbrush Symphony Comments: I really like this particular tune from the Donkey Kong Country 2 Soundtrack. While in it original form it provides a kind of speed without being too harsh and it also tells almost a story. I wanted to take this feeling and put it inside this remix. In particular I always imagined the blue sky and white clouds you're able to see on the background of the Bramble Blast Levels in DKC2. They're truly the calm and free part of the otherwise very hard and caged worlds of the Levels. I'd like to imagine that you could fly through this sky in a calm and chilly way but also feel the speed behind it when you're flying through sky and all the things below you are swooshing away from you. Best regards, Aleksandar Markovic
  11. Remix Title: "Flashkong: Raceman" Remixer name: MtM Games: Diddy Kong Racing, Mega Man 2 Songs: Jungle Falls, Flash Man Figured Guifrog should be dethroned from his monopoly over the Diddy Kong Racing remixes, haha. Anyways, here's a little thing of indeterminate genre (I guess it's just generic electronic... I have no idea) that I put together. My roommate and I tried to play through all of Diddy Kong Racing last summer. We failed. Miserably. That game is hard. We were fine until the silver ring stuff. We played Jungle Falls so. Many. Times. And the song got stuck in my head. So I started a remix, and while I was working on it I realized that Flash Man's theme worked really well with it, so I decided to incorporate it. Then, once it was all done and rendered, I just stuck it in my iTunes library and forgot it for a while. I never really thought much of the mix itself until a couple weeks ago. I was walking to class, listening to my playlist of video game related stuff (About 90% of which is OCR), and it popped up. I realized I had made a pretty groovy little track, so I figured I would submit it and see how it fares.
  12. Remixer name: Rexy (real name: Beverley Wooff) Email: OCRemix user ID: 7528 Remix info:- Remix title: "The Dragon Emperor's Calling" Game covered: Seiken Densetsu 3 Songs covered: Weird Counterpoint (main source), Angel's Fear (several minor appearances), Whiz Kid (two cameos), Witchmakers (two cameos), Star of Darkness (Secret of Mana - single cameo) Weird Counterpoint - --- Okay, time to take a break from the solo non-piano stuff with an actual solo piano arrangement for once. This track was formed for the Seiken Densetsu 3 project that has been going on for a long time. In fact, it's been there that long that I signed up when project founder Usa made a start with it, I took a completely different song, and yet I felt too uninspired to actually realise it, much to my disappointment. Fast forward to around October 2011, when I noticed that even under Rozovian's management, the project still wasn't finished. So I looked at the available tracks and decided to rejoin, eventually feeling that I could do something with "Weird Counterpoint". I've come to the understanding that I gel quite well with late dungeon material in some form, so I felt I could realise a solid vision with this one. "Weird Counterpoint" is heard in the Dragon Hole, the second-to-last dungeon in Duran and Angela's storyline and where the Dragon Emperor resided with the Sword of Mana, itself with enhanced power after the heroes of the game defeated the 8 Mana Beasts. So the vision I have here is a more intense performance, adding to the size and complexity of the dungeon at this point in the game. It's pretty much a poignant moment in the story's progression too - they either reach the Dragon Emperor, or die trying. There is no middle ground - just overcoming adversity and watching your guard at all times. Whichever is the fate for this track both on project's release and through the submission process, I can say it's brought me another step closer to realising the scope for my piano arranging and really bringing out my feelings for the source material. And I am glad that I got this through for Rozo and assistant director Meteo Xavier (even through more reminders than I can count!), and I wish all the best for the album's unveiling Peace out, -Rexy-
  13. wish i could go this year but it's not in the cards, but next year is one of my big plans! I hope there are lots of pictures and video taken!
  14. original sub: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=37212 It's been a long time since I subbed something. I dabbled in remixes all the while and nothing seemed to click, but fortunately the planets seemed to align for this one. It all started when I found out about Nerdapalooza in my hometown of Orlando FL, and couldn't miss an opportunity to see the One Ups get down live. I had no idea that I would run into Mr. Larry Liontamer Oji himself at an OCR table there. I chatted with him and Level 99 (cool dude) for a while before he eventually asked me my name, and I must say that the enthusiasm and surprise that followed was something I honestly did not expect. Not only did he remember me and my submission despite the years, but had a lot of encouraging words and nothing short of a demand for more music. It was then settled - I would get off my ass and really make some music for OCR. The events that followed were quite divine. Larry hooked me up with a hard copy of The Sound of Speed (amazing Sonic). I happened to stumble upon the chiptune album FM Funk Maddness (amazing funk). I happened to get the Death Egg theme stuck in my head (not so amazing, but quite coincidental). Then, the spirits of Larry, DJP, and Sebastian Shaw (NOT Hayden Christensen) appeared before me at a party with small furry creatures, and I then knew what must be done! Shout outs to Superior X for naming my remix and giving feedback, Larry for the encouragement past and present, DJP, Virt, and Bomb Boy for funk inspirations, and the whole OCR community for being what it is.

  16. (I wasn't sure if OC Remix would accept 320kbps so I put the 192kbps version as an attachment) ReMixer Name - Spoon(e) Email - Website - http://Spoonukem.com UserID - 49018 Name of game(s) arranged - Final Fantasy XI Name of arrangement - Bard Song Name of individual song(s) arranged - Bard Song (As far as I'm aware there isn't an official title for the song, just usually referred to as the "Bard Song" or "Bard Theme"... sorry about that) This song was requested to me by my brother who plays Final Fantasy XI, so I listened to an arrangement, figured it sounded pretty cool, thought I'd try to work with it, and give it some new life, seeing as the original was only about 15 seconds long. I think I did pretty good. Hope you accept this! -Spoon (Source) As Appears in the Game -
  17. This is really nice; I love the soundscape and arrangement choices, and though some of the string sequencing sounds a bit slow on the attacks, it adds a bit to the dream-like quality the mix has. The guitar was pretty nicely sequenced, and the flow of the different sections was nice. Samples got the job done, and it feels to me kindof like a Darkesword track, which is something I really enjoy. Nice work, I love it. Yes
  18. Ribbitzy Guifrog Greenarch doesn't want to stop, so here it goes again! This one's quite a personal, intimate sub. That said, if this gets rejected, please don't EVER show the comment lines on it. >P Game -> Super Mario Galaxy Source -> Stardust Road (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64Czms00U2w) Mix name -> Little Glockenspiel COMMENT LINES: So I thought I'd treat Mario in a delicate way: small italian touch throughout, in a way I'd see romantic Venice during a full-moon night. Just so you know: right now, I'm in Recife - Brazil, below a barely visible starry night, but nearby the ocean and its smooth sounds. Funny thing that immediately came to mind is, this city's also known as the brazilian Venice, due to its many crossing rivers. That said, I suppose it's plainly possible to feel poetry over the goodies and problems inside Recife's shell. You may see this one's a small, simple piece, and carries part of my underneath. I tried to create its structure carefully, and here's how I can sum it up: I feel small before people and dreamy before reality. The song has breaks that represent my difficulty on following paths - I tend to hesitate a lot. Then, after each break, the song comes stronger - and so does my sense of conviction. An acoustic guitar follows the glock; that expresses my passional dreams. So, at first, they're a timid thought; then, a strong consideration; and then, the plenitude of my wills. The timid ludicity from this track represents how much I admire children, and how I dearly feel like respecting my inner child. That is, as long as I'm aware that I'm an adult, but as matter of fact, there was a time when I went pretty insanely Peterpan. Nowadays, I suppose I'm more on the "sane" level of childishness. Now, I hope the following doesn't end up too confusing... The track's beginning n' ending can be interpreted as a scene of Someone sleeping. Which means you can translate 'little glockenspiel' not only as me, but as someone else. Or, everyone else. And the whole story would be a single dream. Life's a dream. That's what I believe in.
  19. I saw it thursday afternoon and thought it was super fun and cool!
  20. The timing on this track is really loose, but I love the vocals, which have a bit of a pink floyd vibe for the verses, and gain in intensity. The mixing and balance was solid, and the only issue I have with this is the timing is really really loose in a ton of spots. I really like the track, but the performance needs to be locked. Sorry to send this back, as everything else was great, but the timing is too much of an issue for me to pass this. No, please resubmit

  22. I was feeling this a bit more than the other judges, but they do bring up some good points on improving this further. I think it's pretty borderline myself, but I think the song is solid and while it would take more work, the idea is cool enough to put that work in. No, please resubmit
  23. I think this is decent feedback you have all left for Darangen. I definitely want this on the front page, so please rock it out, bro!
  24. Closing this out as a YES then. Thanks everyone for the revotes as needed.
