Really nice stuff, I love the synths used, the vocals are fun, and the various parts and panning really work well. The filtering keeps it interesting, and throughout it just feels really polished, with a high level of execution. Synth bias, AHOY!

I love all the ridiculously showy dive bombs and shredding on this. It's like a ninja is shredding up stuff with his katana! This is definitely great fight music, and the only thing that I think that could be better is the ending. Overall, a great track, and some powerful playing- I'm definitely excited to see what Matt comes up with next!

Love the feel of this one, great backing vocals and a nice full soundscape without being crowded. Double thumbs up from me!

Avaris Chrono Trigger Corridors of Time Title: Islands in the Sky Link: The Zeal theme is a source I have wanted to tackle for a very long time. As a kid I actually remember replaying Chrono Trigger again for the sole reason of making it to Zeal so I could listen to this theme. I know this source has been done to death. To breath in some new life I focused more on the B section of the original. The mix was done entirely in Reason v6. It features tons of samples from the Roland D-50 and heavy use of the new Pulveriser device. Big thanks to Brad and OA for providing some helpful critiques, especially around the percussion. Texture wise I went with the mindset of less is more. Nowadays it is so easy to overload tracks with too much content. Part of what made the original so timeless is how strong each individual part was. In the arrangement I tried to introduce individual elements from the original in a timely fashion so every element has their own time to shine. Thanks! ~Shaun

Great icy soundscape, and a gradual build featuring what sounds like distant cannon shots. The sound landscape is really well arranged and is expansive enough to be interesting for multiple listens, each revealing something new. The bass sound specifically is perfect to me. It has a really interesting modulation, but a solid attack, so the little quick runs it occasionally pulls off sound really tight. The percussion is really interesting too, and great panning. Super-good, I hope more people have a chance to check out this track.

This mix is a massive tease. It's incredibly well done, but it really needs to be about twice as long. I guess it's a good thing leaving your audience wanting more, but damn, you *really* are leaving me wanting more.

The sliced up guitar is excellently cool, And the sax and crazy intro add up to a really solid track. Great guitar and sax performances, A lot of interesting sections that are well-transitioned, and though it's a bit on the liberal side, things flow together really well, and the solos add a lot. Nice work, gents!

The mood on this track is really well-done, I think Mattias nailed that aspect completely. It is actually pretty refreshing to hear something a touch more minimalistic these days, when it seems everyone else is trying to out-bombast each other. Intelligent and classy, with a lot of restraint, this is a really nice gem that I think may be hidden for awhile, but the people who do discover it will be very happy they did.

I love this track so much. The bass is really driving, the arrangement is very tightly packed, and even the fake guitar sounds pretty good! It definitely sounds like Jimmy had a specific vision for this track, as every element fits very well, and it definitely has the aforementioned swagger. A++ will listen again (and again).

I remember this being put together piece by piece as it was worked on, and it really came together well. I think the secret to the expansive sound is just a sheer number of layers, and the tuned percussion. For some reason I wouldn't expect that sound to meld with guitars and drums, but somehow it does, and actually really improves everything. Pretty interesting, and something I may consider myself. Dramatic and exciting, I think this is one of my favorites from Justin.

This is pretty solid, I love the sonic diversity and the treatment of a pretty strange source is well done. The guitars were sufficiently chugging, and the orchestra had some nice tension building parts, and the transitions between the sections was pretty solid. I do feel the ending was a bit weak, but the rest of the track was really nice.

The video is all kinds of awesome! It doesn't change the fact that I will DESTROY OCR, but it is still super great!

Great bass line, synths, and beat. I think Deia's vocal lines could have been projected a lot more, as they feel a little too airy for most of the mood, and feel a little overpowered. I think the vocoded 'i can try' works a lot better than the previous lines, though. Overall a pretty sweet mix, with awesome filtered transitions and a high energy level.

Awesome semi-club-banger mixed in with some kabuki drama; It really can't be said any better than WesternZypher did. I really enjoy the hard panned synth/stacatto panflute/whatever that enters in at 2:01, and the steady beat and sidechained synths sound great pulsing underneath some more organic sounds. The ending is straight up crazy robot malfunction, and it sounds *awesome*.

Probably my favorite Stevo-mix ever. The synth solo is mildly jarring, but it works very well, in context and feels very off-the-cuff, and the section where the distorted rhythm guitar comes in briefly sounds strangely mixed, but isn't around for long. The strengths this mix has are numerous, from the energetic acoustic guitars to the soaring vocal motif. DJP mentioned this is almost like the sister song to Deia and I's track, and I think the two combined cover a lot of emotional ground. I love it!

i'll quote myself from the evaluation, because it bears repeating: "POW POW POW POWWWWW that drummer must have arms of granite to do those BRUTAL sidesticks at the beginning. The volume of those is off the charts ridiculous." I loved the soloing in this track, and while it definitely felt more like "Willrock with a pokemon flavor", rather than the other way around, I enjoyed the track quite a bit, and there was enough pokeymanz involved for it to be obvious what game it's from. I especially loved the ending, with the guitar and synth intertwining several melodies, and Drummer McBrutalSauce pounding away at that snare, before the quiet fade.

This is a pretty solid and classy take on the classic theme, featuring some really nice flute articulation, and powerful horns. The subtle chord changes throughout are nice, and the transition to the Zelda rescue theme was cool and unexpected. I do feel the electric was a little buried, but it didn't feel broken, just a little off considering how solid the rest of the track was. Cool ending as well, this is a very good mix!

Concrete man represent!! The melody is strangely panned, and a little buried, but overall I was really feeling this. It's like the 80's suddenly learned a ton of new production techniques. Overall feeling the sound, though I think the melody should have been more centered. Not really feeling the ending, however. Some of the chromatic alterations to the melody had me going O_o, but overall I think it worked out. This has a lot of character, and a classic 80's vibe.

The synthy pan flutes are a really nice lead sound combined with really pumping drums and a heavily modulated bassline, but what really sets the track into 'amazing' territory is the prominent hand percussion. My only complaint is that I feel the lead synth could use more modulation, and vibrato, as it feels pretty static, and maybe a touch more prominent delay. Nice builds and breaks, and a lot of good aspects to this track overall.

Damn, someone made Joshua mad, because he definitely means business here. Some really nice guitar, skimming over a solid beat, and a super nasty bass line is the highlight of the track. THere are some undulating synths underneath that I really enjoy that fade in and out as well, and then a little serene ending to close things out after a really powerful and frantic ending. Some different sounds from Mr. Morse, but his distinct style is still very obvious. Very cool stuff!

Really unnerving start, with the super crisp drums starting, and then ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE! The transitions between sections are very strong, and the section where the drums hit a frantic peak (which are definitely the strong point of the mix) is super cool. The screams throughout are a bit much, but they are treated in such a way that they are more atmosphere than forefront, making it a lot more palatable. The melodic structure is a little loose on this, but the rest of the track is quality.
