Nice, I'm getting it. I think it actually ships today, though, so it'll be available tomorrow. Also preordered Front Mission DS and I'll be picking that up at the same time.

New album release - 'The World Circuit'!
Penfold replied to zircon's topic in Post Your Original Music!
Very nice. Somehow missed this earlier, and just got done listening to the samples; very impressive! I'll be getting home in not too long, and then I'm absolutely getting this. By the way, I'd consider buying again if you were to come out with a physical cd for this (I'm a sucker for great music and physical media ). -
Off topic, but what style of Tae Kwon Do?

Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled for Nintendo DS (CT Style RPG)
Penfold replied to DarkeSword's topic in General Discussion
While I'm somewhat skeptical of it actually having the same feel as CT from what I've seen, it definitely looks good and I'm looking forward to hearing more about this as it comes closer to release. -
I'm a fan of underground hiphop, so whenever I get a chance to give this a listen I'll do so.

IGN interview with studio in charge of the Wiimake.. So, yeah, going to be pretty much a direct port, which is fine IMO as long as it's a budget price just like RE4. I still don't quite understand why people call it a franchise when it's the sole game in the series though...

I gotta say, I'm a little confused. You put $15,000 in already (I would say prematurely, no offense), and then it sounds like you aren't trying to secure investment through conventional means (or at least you haven't mentioned it). From the language used on the site, I'm not even sure if you have a business plan written out yet (depsite one of you having a business degree), so I'm getting the impression from this that you went into this venture half-cocked. You clearly have a vision for you business, and that's absolutely essential if you're going to get this off the ground, but now you need to take that and translate it to a formal business plan so you can secure real investment (since you simply won't raise the kind of funds you'll need through paypal donations). A good read I can recommend to get at least some ideas for the marketing side of things is Guerilla Marketing. You may also consider doing some revisions to your website in the event potential investors go there to find out more about you (even if you just add a "For Investors" tab on the site). While I'd say adding signficant information related to your business plan would be a very good idea, revising the language of what you already have to convey a "We know what we're talking about" sense would be smart. If a potential investor stumbles across your site as it is now, they will probably have a similar feeling to my initial reaction (which is bad; if you can't prove yourself to have a handle on what you're getting into, you won't get solid investment). So, again, if you don't have one yet, write out a formal business plan since that is vital. If you have one already, show potential investors what you have, and utilize your site to do so as well. Best of luck!

Bargain Center (<$200 gear): 8/20
Penfold replied to zircon's topic in Music Composition & Production
Yeah, the HD280s definitely aren't bad, though my pair of AKG K240 Studios just recently came in and I'm definitely preferring those. Btw, are the HD600s fully enclosed like the HD280s? -
I noticed that as well. Very cool trailer, incidentally.

Yeah, I agree. Not even funny how much I liked Punch-Out!!, and while I think it would have been cool if he were somehow a playable character, I'm glad the game is at least getting representation through him as an assist. Come on Capt. Olimar for playable character!! Pikmin would have to at least be an assist, but given all the "lots of little stuff" assists they already have, they'd be a little redundant in this respect.

lol, I dunno about that man. Most stylized/best cel-shading, for sure, though.
-
I'd be excited for it, since I haven't had a chance to play this yet. I wish, though, they would have cited their sources in the article, since I don't follow eurogamer and don't know how reliable they generally are.

Very exciting. Looking forward to hearing more about this as things get announced.

***Round 16*** Starfox 64 Having played this game again recently (thanks again, Virtual Console! ), it reminds me just how poor the dialogue was. But really, that's just an aside because of how great the actual game is. Single player was a great experience, and even though it's no Goldeneye it still had good multiplayer. Usually regarded as the top in the series, there's good reason why (though I still really liked Starfox Assault). YES

That's pretty interesting. I have hopes for Soul Caliber Legends to be good, so all the better if they have Lloyd from ToS in it too.

Fix'd, since I'm positive that the people interested in having OCR blogs will go up at time passes. Plus, according to this survey, we have over 20 so far who are interested in it even if it costs $$$, so all the better .

While I agree that the brighter palette, slightly more SD-looking humans, and directly perpendicular perspective in the battle sequences of Dual Strike were more preferable, those 3 things are really the only big changes between that and Days of Ruin. I honestly don't see it as that great a leap, and even if it were I'd still be very much excited for this new Advance Wars since I enjoyed Dual Strike so much. Seems to me people are getting a little out of hand with this "It's totally different now, that sucks!" perspective.

Finally got the time to beat the game...very fun. Every boss battle was unique and certainly not a chore to fight. Playing this really makes me wanna play Wind Waker again.
-
Boo, it requires you to sign up at fileplanet to download it apparently. Anyone see a commercial release of the soundtrack yet? Anyone know if there was even a commercial release for Prime 2's soundtrack?

***Round 11*** Starcraft Especially for the time, Starcraft was unique. It was an RTS with a unique flavor, and it's no wonder it was hugely popular. I recall first playing as the Terrans: the style was a little on the grittier side, your units gave off that "fuck you" attitude," and the overall ambiance was desolate. The game only got better from there. YES Total Annihilation I know a lot of people really enjoyed this game, but I found it to only be a mediocre (and broken) RTS experience. Yes, maps were huge. Yes, there was a lot of diversity in the units. No, just those two elements alone (the only I could find in the game that made it stand out even a little) do not make this game a must-have. I may not call this the best RTS ever, but even now it's up there on my list. NO ***Round 12*** Goldeneye 007 When this came out, I honestly didn't care for the 64, yet even then I couldn't deny this game of its greatness. While where this game truly excelled was at multiplayer, the single player was plenty of fun as well. The graphics may not have aged well, but the gameplay and style of this game are still great. I could ramble on for longer, but instead I'll just say YES WarioWare Oh man, was I ever skeptical of this game when a friend first told me about it. A succession of "microgames" lasting only a few seconds each fun? As it turns out, really fun. Oh, and did anyone mention this was more addictive than Pokemon? Cuz it is. By far. Anyway, this game has style all its own, features some intense and ridiculously fun gameplay, and if you don't actually laugh while you play you will certainly have a grin on your face. This game also featured several cameos from Nintendo's line-up, which is always fun to see in any of the games in the series. Great, great game. YES!

I wonder if Battalion Wars 2 will be as short as the first one. Not that that would be a deal-breaker, just kinda curious. Anybody happen to hear anything on that note?
-
Didn't play any of the games enough in Round 10 to feel like I could give a good review, but at least one in Round 11... ***Round 11*** Mega Man Zero "Hell yeah." That's what I thought when I first heard about this game. And what I said when I played it. And when I beat it. And when I played it again. To put it another way, this game did not disappoint. Tight controls, fast action, great story, good graphics, fluid animation...this game had the full package. YES
-
Yeah, I'm really excited about Front Mission (didn't get to play it the first time around, and this kinda game being on DS is ideal for me). When I go preorder Fire Emblem for Wii this weekend, I'm gonna have to preorder that as well. Man, too many awesome-sounding SRPGs coming out soon, I'm not gonna have enough time to play them all! EDIT: On that note, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin release date now set - Jan 21.
-
lol, that actually was pretty funny. His presence in the game really adds a lot IMO. Anyway, hoping to have enough time to beat the game today or tomorrow...then gotta go back and collect the rest of the stuff, like Strike911 was saying . Great fun, this game.

What are your preferred 2D Super Mario platform physics?
Penfold replied to DarkeSword's topic in General Discussion
I also prefer Super Mario Bros. 3, since growing up with a Nintendo that was, you know, THE game. As much as I love Mario World (and I really do), the one thing about the "physics" that's bugged me is the "slickness," as someone already said.
