Pixietricks' Solo Album, Origins - New Song 12/23!
Penfold replied to Jillian Aversa's topic in General Discussion
I'm definitely excited for this as well just based off your previous work I've heard, though I have yet to check out the previews...looking forward to hearing those. -
Oh ho ho! I see what you did there!

Saw something a little odd tonight. Went down to visit my parents this weekend, and I met them at their local Costco...they had a Wii bundle pack for sale there (only one left). Anyway, first time I saw a Wii bundle at Costco, and struck me as strange considering I still don't see Wii consoles in stores often at all.

Never played AC before, but I don't really understand your opposition if they were to have an AC character included. I gotta say I don't really agree with your set of arguments. You don't think the character model/art style fits, but the game is already kind of a mish-mash of art direction that I don't think it'd matter. The ideas people posted before regarding potential movesets for the character seem valid. Finally, I really don't see any link you could connect between a potential AC character and Mr. Game and Watch, as I don't think they'd neccesarily fill the same kind of role. I think the character would fit just as well as any character they would decide to put into the game and it wouldn't somehow detract from the fun; have some faith in the dev team.

That also goes for about 90% of the posts in this thread .

I just wish they'd update the firmware so that it doesn't totally shut off the Wii hardware. I dislike it that when I play a GC game, I have to turn off the Wii and back on in order to get back to the main channels menu. It's only a minor annoyance, really, but it's annoying nevertheless.

If I'm not mistaken, those were simply original stages no? I'd guess his question was more along the lines of "has there ever been a stage derived from another game from which there was no character?"

Oh man, FE:PoR was a lot of fun. It ate my life last yr, mainly cuz I'd restart a mission if someone died and I always left the animations on (until the 2nd to last missions...those got too long already, even without animations) .
-
lol, I like how you decided to capitalize the "V" when you said that.
-
I'd guess that in classic Nintendo fashion they're just saving more info with him till later, since he's such a big deal. It'd be dumb IMO to have him in there but then not be a part of what seems like their focus this time around.
-
So are you aiming this first one to coincide with the FF7 Project release (or around that timeframe)? I'm pretty excited to hear it, so I'm mainly just curious when I might expect it.
-
Never got to hear VGF, but I'd definitely be interested in checking this out. Whatever length it comes out to be, I know I'd listen to it.

I'd like to help with seeding. Got cable internet.

Chrono Trigger Forest Refuge - ready for a resub?
Penfold replied to CC Ricers's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Dunno if I really have any comments that will help much since I'm just beginning to develop my ear, but figured I'd give it a shot. Anyway, read Monobrow's comments after giving it a listen through and it turns out I had a similar take. First off, really like the intro. Soon as the song gets into swing though, pads seem too loud IMO, especially the one which pans...maybe push them a little further back in the soundscape. At 1:40 and again at 2:00 when more strings come in, it just seems too busy, and part of it is the volume levels for everything IMO. When it breaks down at 2:45, it seems to me that dynamically you could have come down even further (and that it lasted too long, at least without significant changes to the beats). I really liked when the piano comes in at 3:29. Between 2:45 and 3:29, it really seemed like there was more filler material here than anything, which would kinda make me want to hear the time between the break down and the piano debut to be a lot shorter. The ending served, but it didn't strike me as the most fitting. In all, the only major thing I had issue with was the volume level for the individual instruments (pads especially). I think while certainly not dynamically dead, it would have ended up being way more dynamic and alive if this issue were addressed. Other than what I've already said, I don't really have any suggestions. Not sure what I'd suggest for the ending, though I think as it stands it's just mediocre. Anyway, really liked it overall. Pretty good beats, I definitely liked genre adaptation. Thanks. -
Nope, you weren't able to jump in FF:CC. Anyway, sounds cool. With the increased focus on the story/single-player mode, though, I wonder if/how the multiplayer will suffer.
-
I agree. Especially compared to the Aurora vid, there wasn't all that much to get excited about IMO. I'm sure it'll be important in the game and all, but it left much to be desired.

In terms of stuff for OCR, FourLittleMetroids, Samus Strut, and Secrets are good for bass. I also like the bassline from Inverting the Tower Temple.

I dunno anything from the Propellerheads, so I'll just give recommendations from stuff I know . I'm a huge fan of Talvin Singh. While I've been listening to more of his down tempo stuff (like Back to Mine) lately, I'd recommend something from his OK or Ha albums (Soundz of the Asian Underground isn't bad, though it's probably my least favorite of his catalog). Most of the tracks on those two are D&B, but a lot more intelligent than stuff that's more dance-oriented (like Roni Size...though, New Forms wasn't too bad IMO).

Oh yeeeeah, Tiger Heli was great. I would play that, 1942, and Excite Bike all the time at a friend's house back in the NES days.
-
Oh man, I very vaguely remember the movie. Wow, that's nostalgic.
-
That was pretty much my reaction to that vid as well .

Gonna have to agree with any Mega Man game, along with Metroid, Punch Out!!, Super Mario 1-3, TMNT, Zelda, and Double Dragon...especially Mega Man 3, Metroid, and Punch-Out!!. I also recommend 1942, 1943, Castlevania, and Ninja Gaiden. I know there are more, but those are the ones which come to mind right away.

What with all the talk about Prime 3, along with the Prime 3 Preview Channel update, I'm getting more anxious for it to come out. Also, can't wait for Super Metroid! Offtopic, I wonder if the MP3 Preview Channel will become something of a more general Preview Channel after the game's release. Seems to me they could have weekly updates for it, like they do for the Shop Channel, and have content available for at least a select few upcoming 1st and 3rd party games. I'd imagine they'd take down the content for a specific game soon after its release and whatnot. [/spectulation]
