Forget about Uematsu for a second. . . Larry Oji! That surprised the hell out of me! That dude constantly impresses me. -
What are they making references to? Other Vanillaware games? Greek Mythology? Jaleel White? Dude, I'm sorry to hear about your lungs! I hope you get better real quick.

Video Game Rap Songs
The Legendary Zoltan replied to The Legendary Zoltan's topic in General Discussion
It's just a title, so don't freak out when I say it guys. But I love Niggaz 4 Life! I forgot that Zyko had wrote that. Great song! By the way if you guys are interested in hearing my first draft of my first rap song there's a thready thread for it. http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44617 Special thanks to Damashii!! for his awesome advice. -
OK. Wait a minute dude! lol. I'm not 100% clear on what you mean, man. Do you want me to change the beat itself or just use more hip hop-appropriate drum samples? I listened to the track you linked and I'd say that my beat is similar at least at the beginning. Later on my beat evolves into a more groovy kind of galloping beat. I like the drums I wrote but I am definitely up for using better rap drum samples. You suggest 808? Any other good ones? Spending money on quality sound is definitely a possibility for me. There aren't actually any guitars in this. The drumset I used is probably better for rock though. I don't need to have the rock feel I just want to keep the orchestral parts. Thanks a lot for your advice man. I'm probably going to stick with these vocals and just follow your advice on sound and mixing and then move on to the next track which should be an improvement over this one.

finished MegaMan X - Zero's Theme
The Legendary Zoltan replied to avaris's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
So this is a resubmit? I don't know what the first one sounded like or what they told you but when I listen to this, I feel that it would get passed. I think this sounds well done. -
UPDATE: This mix is finished and I even made a video for it. Thank you very much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmdOlQGMYZM So this is MOSTLY finished. I'm really just looking for mixing advice and overall impressions upon listening. I get the feeling it still sounds rather amateurish but I'm not sure how to go about fixing it. I am open to re-recording vocals if you think parts are not good enough so let me know. Thanks. I would like to submit this to OCR because there isn't very much rap here but the main function of this is going to be a YouTube video. I want to make a lot of VGM raps and make it a thing that I do, so... https://soundcloud.com/legendaryzoltan/work-in-progress-i-am-the LYRICS Your hand in mine, breathe in time, it's dreamwalker time. I'm inside of Tarn's Manor. I didn't even knock first because of bad manners. The house is empty except for, you know, God! Or so this demon claims but I know that he's a fraud. His name is Melzas. That's what I named my dog. I'm just trying to open the door and step inside. But I can't because freakin' Melzas freakin'...URRRGH! It's so infuriating that I broke down and cried. Manly tears. The kind that lift weights, play Halo, drink Mountain Dew, and hang glide! I'm just hear to pick up a book that Tarn left on the table. And after I get it I'm gonna go home and fix me a bagel singing dah dah dah... I'm gonna spread butter all over it singing dah dah dah... Cause there's a life on the line in Inoa You say I can't do it but I'm gonna show ya how I walk through dreams to slay you. I'm not like Link, I'm the whole website. I don't have a curfew. I stay up all night. I'm the releaser. You're the deceiver. I've bro'd more dudes than an XBOX achiever. Just wait 'till I get that Book of Elna. I'll walk through dreams to slay you. Melzas! You're messing with the wrong elf! I outzelda'd Zelda. It's time to kick some MelzASS! I am the dreamwalker. I am the land stalker. I heat things up and burn like an Xbone GPU overclocker. My sword is legendary. My chest is very hairy. I'm not like Link. I'd never date the same girl for 26 years and never pop her cherry. I hope that was not offensive, but the phrase "Zelda clone" makes me a little defensive. Play A Link to the Past and then play me, it will traumatize you and destroy your senses. Give it up like Phil Fish. This is a fool's endeavor. But we all know that if you're a gamer, you're the worst people ever! No! Damn it! I wanted to be a dreamwalker! Why'd Phil have to say that!?

Oh my god! That fits so well on solo piano! I didn't expect this. Freaking great! Your piano sounds just like a piano you'd see in a tavern in Dragon Quest VIII or dare I say, the one that Spekkio himself plays in the town to the South. WIP stands for Work In Progress. I think this remix varies it up just enough with being solo piano and your groovy bass lines and stuff that the judges would accept this. Just get the best recording quality you can and you're good to go, I think!

Oh nice. I can hear both of the themes in there. I like how the Moon theme came in for the first time. not a jarring transition at all. However, I think when the second part of the Ducktales melody comes in, there's still some bass notes or something from the Needle Man theme playing and those don't fit well in my opinion. I would change up the bass and maybe the chords too to get rid of the clash. But this is a sweet job so far. At 2:15 everything sounds good again. Keep up the good work!

Very nice. All atmospheric. This song is interesting because it really doesn't have any melodies. I think this song could use a bit more arranging. It's basically the exact same structure as the original (I think) and the judges care about that kind of stuff. If you were to add a melody to it, that would be a sweet addition and make the arrangement more impressive. Very good sound in my opinion. Good job.

OK. I found the Metaphis album. Very good! KingTiger. Keep at it. They're pretty good but I feel like you should do what I do which is intentionally change your voice when you sing. When I rap in my regular voice I sound totally stupid. It makes things hard because then I have a harder time concentrating on the "flow". But if I don't I can't BEAR to listen to myself. Hahaha. I JUST finished recording the vocals for my first VGM rap song. It's an Alundra one and I'm quite happy about how it sounds. Now I need to do a good job with the mixing. -

That Charles Hamilton song was pretty cool. I guess as far as games are concerned that's the only one he does, though. I didn't hear any raps in either of the remixes by Metaphist, though. G-Mixer, that sounds like fun. The most important thing for me would be to be able to hear the song and know what section I would be rapping over. If you're interested let me know. And don't worry if I do a track for you and you don't like it. You can just let me know or, even better, give me details on what kind of feeling you want. -

Oh yeah. I forgot about that guy mentioning Xenogears. Props to that guy! I know these are just the first 4 replies but I totally expected people to have all these links that I would click and find out are huge YouTube personalities that everybody knows and loves. I'm not disappointed, just surprised. Of course there are Mega Ran and Duane & Brando. Those guys are talented too but I prefer the ones I posted in the first post. I guess Mega Ran is the most famous video game rapper. . . ? Oh, cool. I'll check out Metaphist. Thanks! -
I've been saying that I want to practice my raps and show people what my style is like and now I've finally stopped doubting myself and I'm just going for it now. You guys will hear my first fruits from that seed soon. For now, I just want to know what videogame rap you guys like. I recently found a couple that I like another one that I thought was. . . well, hilarious. So please post some awesome VGM rap songs. Here are mine: Richie Branson - Bring Back Chrono Richie Branson - Otaku Tuesdays (I freaking LOVE this!)Smosh - The Legend of Zelda Rap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy4Y6kb4u_Q (The video is impressive!) The Infinite Source - Final Fantasy VII Epic Rap (This is hilariously bad XD)

I read both the English and Japanese. Those translations are correct. I don't know that they sound quite that aggressive in Japanese though. I am VERY disappointed about this. Square-Enix (or Tri-Ace?) did the same damn thing with Star Ocean!

Thanks, Damashii. Yes, this is for Lusipurr. It will be up next week and will probably also be talked about on the podcast. Sorry, OrangeDragan, I kept checking my private messages instead of coming here. You can PM it to me or email it to me at the+legendary+zoltan+@+gmailDOTcom. Did you email him or PM him? I would try email. It's in his first post. He only just made his account for this topic so he probably doesn't plan to check it often and would prefer us to email him. -
