E: I also just realized that while we might not get a main series pokemon game on the 3DS anytime soon, a remake of Pokemon Snap (which possibly makes use of the AR feature) would be GODLIKE. -

You heard it here first; nintendo purposefully builds in headache ray generators to force people to take breaks. -

It's not recommended to have the 3D turned on for long periods of time, and even though I scoffed at it at first, after an hour or so, it did start to become pretty disorienting, so yeah. A game that required the 3D to be turned on all the time just wouldn't work well IMO because you'd have to take breaks very often. -
So I could have an educated opinion on it. What does this even mean? "Considering you don't like it, I'm not surprised that you don't like it" You're pointing out the...consistency in my opinions?

Honestly? This doesn't bother me very much. After all, how many first party games made really inventive use of the wii control scheme? Even in critically acclaimed games like mario galaxy it wasn't much more than "waggle to spinjump". Like the article mentioned, the 3D is a great feature, and it does have the potential to add a lot of depth (dohoho) to the gameplay. In practical terms, however, I just don't see games that outright REQUIRE the 3D to be turned on for extended periods of time as a good design decision, simply because after an hour or so, it becomes very tiring to keep your eyes on the screen. Again, it works great as a bonus feature, and it would be cool if the games had short segments that utilized it in some clever way, but the decision to not make games completely centered around it is a wise one, IMO. -

I can vouch for Ghost Recon, unless you absolutely hate Advance Wars-style turn-based tactical games. SFIV is probably the second best option as far as launch titles go. -

?? The battery life was predicted to be 3-5 hours for 3DS games and 5-8 hours for DS games. The fact that so far it seems to be holding up better than that isn't a failure. -

Haven't tried the music player yet, but with regards to battery life; I've played Ghost Recon for about 2 hours yesterday, with sound on all the time, and 3D for at least an hour. I've played another two hours of Pokemon Black today, and the Battery indicator is at 3/4. I dunno how accurate this is, but the battery life so far seems to at least be bearable. -
Would say Golden Sun: The Lost Age, but the first game set a pretty low standard by itself. Then again, Golden Sun: TLA had Air's Rock, so it was probably just a bit worse.

Forgot to mention the interface, it actually lets you tab out during a game by pressing the home button which is really awesome. -

I picked up mine earlier today. Got Shadow Wars along with it which is probably the best launch title. Haven't been too impressed by the 3D so far, but the graphics and the overall sleekness are really nice. -
While those moves are annoying when an NPC uses them, they're actually pretty useful for some strategies (Toxic + Protect comes to mind). Also, the main game is easily doable without caring about IVs/EVs (though beneficial Natures do make a big difference), so it really only matters for multiplayer.

Looks pretty decent so far. I think we should decide on a competitive format as well, to prevent people from running rampant with a party of 6 legendaries. I know smogon is kind of a spergfest but they probably do have a pretty good idea of what constitutes a balanced format. I propose that using any pokemon that doesn't fall in the "uber"-tier on smogon would be fair game. (AFAIK this basically constitutes all the 'main' legendaries of each game like Mewtwo, Ho-Oh/Lugia, Groudon/Kyogre, Reshiram/Zekrom, etc. etc.) I'm not entirely sure on what to do with the Action Replay stuff (does anyone here actually use that?), though it's probably best to keep in mind that not everyone will have all the games from the previous gens, which could lead to some movesets that are impossible to attain within the context of just the fifth gen. (an example would be the move Superpower which is only accessible through a move tutor in Heartgold/Soulsilver)

Modest Nature is actually really good for Victini (reduces attack but boosts special attack), the IVs are kinda bad to be honest. I wouldn't bother with resetting for better IVs, unless you're outright planning on playing competitively online or something. Modest nature should be perfectly fine throughout the single player game.

Have you ever even PLAYED an FPS?

They should ban most all RPG games for the next 10 years. They're all the same and take no skill. Kill enemies until you level up, kill stronger enemies. That's it.
