  1. I feel like this song ends before it really begins. Also the synthesizer sounds a little too high pitched, it kinda grates me a little.
  2. I never liked this mix, and I don't think it's hard to see why - it sounds more like an original, and a fairly uninteresting one at that.
  3. A rare Terranigma mix! However, it's kind of like a midi rip with the instruments replaced .
  4. This is a kinda cool mix, although it relies mostly on the source to carry it. It's kinda short too, so it sounds kinda repetitive. Otherwise, don't really have huge beefs with this one.
  5. Well I'll give this this much - it does take a somewhat unique approach in its lead. However, I think the bass being that loud contrasts too much with what otherwise would sound like a synth driven rock piece. There's not much done with the source to distinguish it from the original either...
  6. Interesting mix - it reminds me of djpretzel's Revival Day Impoetus, but perhaps a bit more repetitive and a little more upbeat. For a song so long, I feel like it could use some more variation. Otherwise, it's a pretty nice song.
  7. This is a pretty strange mix - not what I expect after hearing other Blaster Master mixes like by Disco Dan, but I guess this is vintage Mazedude with quirky tracks. I find this strangely appealing though - it sounds like a mix of strangeness and creepiness melded together. I do wish it ended in a more fitting fashion that would emphasize that aspect more, but otherwise this is a really solid mix from the early days.
  8. I'm not sure how much this mimics the original as I'm not familiar with the source, but this has a pretty happy sound to it. It's nice for a WIP I guess, but there's really not much here arrangement-wise to really comment about it.
  9. This is an example of a mix that just didn't age well. The samples mainly demonstrate that, but there are other issues with this, such as the strings in the beginning - they sound unnatural because of the sharp crescendo with each play, and really kill that section. Throughout the mix, the strings are just not used well at all. It also gets fairly repetitive fast with the lack of development too...I wasn't a big fan of this mix because of all of these basic problems back then, and still not now. Thankfully, Mustin has gotten a lot better though, so this song is just one that marks the progress of the journey of his musical maturity for me, nothing more.
  10. I dunno, everything seems to scream dead atm...any word from Electric Concerto?
  11. Some of the samples are at a too high frequency for what you'd expect, like the beats. The mix is a bit too chaotic to me. Some of the drum loops sound very weird in that they're non-standard patterns that you might hear or expect, so it becomes a bit strange trying to follow things.
  12. What a quirky & happy mix. I guess my main complaint here is that it's too short and probably relies too much on the original source to carry it.
  13. I really don't understand how the heavy slow beat meshes well with those forest sounds and such a weighty theme sped up like this. There's too many clashes with the underlying elements here, and resulting in what is a piss poor song. It even ends without a loop!
  14. This rubs off to me as an attempt to throw a bunch of random elements into a song, from the unnecessary voices to the beats and the happy melody. Not a fan at all.
  15. This is pretty cool - wish there were better samples though, as that high frequency sample grated on my ears somewhat when combined with that excessive deep bass. The fadeout ending is a cop-out though - there really could've been more to it IMO.
  16. Jeebus the samples are pretty bad. The transition into the more boisterous part is pretty poor. That said, that section is promising, but the mix ends way too soon to really see it developed any, which is a shame, as it only sounds like the song is just beginning.
  17. I'm going to just say this - talk is cheap. Prove you can handle the workload at a suitable quality level, and then we'll see what happens.
  18. Well that is kinda misleading advertising, but whatever, you still have the damn game.
  19. Haha I don't care much for GH5 (still haven't played it), but I'll be damned if I passed up the free GH Van Halen game.
  20. You like the image of 15-year-old virgins like that? You sicko! I never found much interest in this mix, although I wonder if it is partly because of lack of familiarity with the source material. For the approach, it just seems too short though - I feel like some more expansion of the arrangement should've occurred but didn't.
  21. Ok, so this sounds almost like a midi with the instruments changed, except with minor alterations. Love JAXX's later stuff, but I never was a fan of this effort .
  22. So this sounds kinda coverish, but a downgrade from the original. More needs to happen! The samples don't help the piece very much either.
  23. I'd be willing to host people for a listening party at my place in Champaign, IL for those relatively close (for the midwest). I'd also grill for them and have snacks too (and cook up some other stuff and have ice cream)!
  24. You'd be surprised at there being mixers available - you just have to think outside the normal set. For example, Jade got her Wild ARMs project off to a great start out of almost nowhere - she knew where to look and got it done. I felt like something should be done to help everyone in making this thread - I did promise to someone (I think it was Rozo) that I'd try to help people with existing projects fill out their tracks, and this is one way I'm doing so as well as occasionally asking mixers for them. 1) This is not meant to be a thread on project status for listeners - this is meant for a list on stuff a project may need, and I feel like I'm clear on that. 2) Secret projects usually are secret for a reason . I don't want to spoil their thunder when they're released, so it's not my place to spoil it. 3) I generally keep tabs on projects anyway, so it's not that much more work for me to do this. I'm only doing this because I want to though. I don't view this as official by any means, unless we (the staff) decide to do that, but that would be a discussion we make internally.
