  1. The Favs gave some very useful advice, before I do another mod evaluation I'd like to hear you possibly incorporate some of that feedback if you'd like. I did a precursory listen and this version sounded much improved, but since you've got a set of feedback waiting for you to evaluate I'd like to hold off on my crits until you make any of those fixes. Cheers!
  2. Get on AIM, villainous cur!

  3. mv's still around, contributing to the One Hour Compos over at ThaSauce He's also got a kickass track going for the DK3 project that you'll all get to hear soon. But rest assured, he's still very much present in the community in some way or another! Also, woah... Destiny's really been doing some awesome work, this is incredible! Good to hear she's still putting her musical talents to work.
  4. I caved and listened to the 2nd preview, and now I'm almost 100% certain that your collab is gonna be my favorite on the project I'm almost tempted to ask halc for the full version now just because I'm impatient, but... I'll refrain. Just wanted to let you know that what I did hear of your mix really spoke to me and calmed me down in a major way
  5. Seriously, considering the song makes use of a mellotron, I thought the title was great But then again, I'm also the guy who suggested that Brandon name his Dixie Beat remix on the DKC3 project "Beating our Dix" so maybe I'm not the guy to ask about this
  6. This makes me very, very happy! One of my favorite un-remixed Mario sources getting the Day's End treatment?
  7. I'm listening on super-treble-heavy headphones right now so I can't really give an accurate mod review, but I listened to your song and wanted to give some preliminary feedback. This is a really interesting mix, the production values seem generally good and you do a lot to vary up your very simple melodies and not let the song get too busy while still making it feel full-bodied, as well. I guess what I'm saying is that I like your mix, it reminds me a lot of the Earthbound soundtrack in its quirkiness. The biggest issue I can find is that your drumloops are pretty simple repetitive and don't always reflect what's going on in the rest of the track, energy-wise. That snare hit every beat tends to get grating after a while. Also, where's the ending? The track just kind of drops off into nothingness without any sort of climax or inclination that it's going to end If you'd like me to go more in-depth on production or source usage, I could try that, but see what you can do about the repetitive drumloops and maybe adding on a more conclusive ending before we delve into that. I feel like the production could probably pass as-is but the arrangement needs some touchups first I like what you've done though, good luck!
  8. PROTODOME please WILL YOU marry mE!? Please check one of the below boxes to indicate your response: [ ] Yes [ ] No [ ] I'm not even going to dignify that with a response [ ] I can't hear you over the sound of my skinny jeans [ ] BOLLOCKS!
  9. Protodome, will you marry me? Also, Fixed.
  10. Sub this, yo This is a brilliant mix, I'm sure it'd have no trouble passing with this new shiny production on it It might be a bit too conservative but I think your subtle jazzy inflections should put it above the bar in that respect.
  11. Waiting for this mix to be finished is like waiting for Duke Nukem: Forever
  12. Thoughts: The intro is really nice with some very aptly used percussive elements. The strange LFO on the flute doesn't sound right to me once it stops syncing up with the flute notes after the first bar or two. It was a neat idea but I'd prefer to hear the flutes playing at a more consistent volume. Neblix is right, the kit drums just feel really weak compared to the rest of the mix. Have you considered using a more traditional, powerful-sounding orchestral kit? If not, bump up the compression and maybe the volume on your drums, maybe add a little distortion on them... something to give them a bit more punch and body. I'm still feeling that some of your leads aren't quite cutting through... whatever you were using (flute maybe?) felt really quiet and drowned out half the time so I could barely make out the melody. I think you might have went a little overboard with Nut's criticisms about toning down the volume It's not a bad start, but I'll agree that overall this feels a little bit empty. Some of the sounds are rather weak and the writing is a bit on the simplistic side. I'm generally impressed with your work but I feel like with the arrangement you've got, you could do more to it I liked the marimba section, though it starts to carry a happy vibe that clashes with the rest of the song... some more dramatic background stabs from the strings or brass might keep the mood more consistent with the rest of the song. Weird cutoff on the shaker-sounding percussion at 2:58, that definitely needs some looking at. Very minor, but distracting issue IMO. When you bring in Ridley's theme at the end of the song, it feels pretty uninspired, to be honest. You do a better job with it after you get into the theme a bit more, but I feel like that section is meant to be the climax of the song and for the first several seconds, the arrangement of the theme just isn't grabbing me. Sorry for the disjointed critiques but I hope this gives you something to think about Nutritious is definitely the expert in this genre but I did the best I could to provide you with specific feedback that'll hopefully help you get this where it needs to be. I've got no doubt that this could be panel-worthy with some serious effort put into it!
  13. Thanks for introducing me to Moonbeam! Now I've got your awesome remix and a bunch of other material to keep my ears occupied with. Nice work bro!
  14. Brandon finished his song in 2 days and it's actually good, where the rest of you at? His Brothers Bear remix, the 24th finished song for the project, continues his trend of mixing in various subgenres of classic rock, and this one particularly has a very "live 50's rock band" feel to it. Hopefully you all dig it, I did!
  15. Goddamn dude you are really getting out of hand with this crazy stuff... in a good way. You're a ridiculously talented mofo.
  16. Hahaha, well, to be fair, projects usually go off-course towards the end when we're waiting on the last few remixes to come in. I HOPE that doesn't happen and I'll do everything in my power to prepare for situations that may arise. Also, I put your song there because it's sort of the transition out of the Mekanos section of the album (you said you based it off of Ripsaw Rage, which is right at the end of that world) and into the Razor Ridge/KAOS Kore section (which is lacking in representation, so I might do a bit of shuffling to make that work.) It seemed like a logical fit but I might still mix it up a bit later in the game when I figure out what McV's track is gonna sound like. Me and Cody have spent a LOT of time deliberating over this, and there's a reason for pretty much every track on the project being placed where it is Even with some songs missing/in rough WIP form, the album sounds absolutely amazing on a straight listen in this order. Hopefully you guys will appreciate the care we put into this process when everything finally releases.
  17. 50 years in the future, you will be the one to write this song (Directed by M. Night Shymalan)
  18. Just thought some of you might be interested in knowing this, we calculated last night an estimate of how close the project is to completion and decided that we're a little over 55% done when you account for all of the WIPs and WAVs that have been submitted. So, we're over the 50% mark and we're hopefully going to be plowing through to completion in the next 6 months or so. I know every project director says this, but we're right on schedule and planning to keep it that way so we can release in a timely fashion. A lot of you have promised me WIPs and WAVs recently, and some of you have delivered. Thanks to those that have gotten their stuff in, you are appreciated! Also, I just updated the tracklist on the front page to reflect how the tracks will be (tentatively) split up on the final album release. Everything is still subject to change and this update is more for mine and Cody's reference than anything, but for those of you curious to see how everything is going to be ordered (it's very different than the original OST listing, but trust me, it works this way ) it's up in the first post now! Enjoy!
  19. Dunno what y'alls are smoking, I really think the melody of the song is perfectly suited for this kind of music, and it's been very well adapted. The mood of the remix accentuates the best parts of the source melody and couples it with Jordan's signature big thumpin' beats and intricate breakdowns/buildups in a very appealing manner. This definitely doesn't feel like an 8 minute remix either, time tends to fly while you're listening to this one. I can see some of the reasons people don't like it, but I personally disagree
  20. Mike, I love this. This is one of my favorite arrangements from you and it makes me extremely jealous that I don't know how to play classical guitar And yeah, I totally expected this to bust out into Time's Scar throughout the song, the similarities are definitely striking. Stellar work man!
  21. RAWR! Another Soundscape is my hero, thank you for the finished song! This mix really holds no punches, which is definitely not what you'd expect given the very subdued, understated source material. However, hopefully you guys will appreciate the quirky-yet-intense atmosphere he crafted! Thanks AnSo!
  22. This sounds exactly like what I'd expect to hear out of a Paper Mario soundtrack. Nice work, very quirky arrangement.
