Its not intensive at all. I have a 2.1ghz AMD dual core and a HD3850 and i get a solid 60fps everywhere at 1440x900. Your video card is not up to spec anymore. It hasn't been for a while now. Games are getting to be more and more graphics card intensive, and a 7600GS (not even the GT mind you) is not capable of keeping up, especially at whatever resolution you are trying to use it at. In most comparisons, a stock 7600GS preforms about the same as a 6600GT, which is the minimum for the game.

Advanced is the best difficulty. Its just hard enough to make you feel like you fought for it, but not so hard that you get destroyed before you even get out of the apartments. Boomers are pretty much the worst thing ever in expert, and the expert director loves to spawn them and smokers in twos in rooms that have already been cleared.

You should be easily able to get away with one 120mmm fan and some creative ductwork for cooling. Hell, even a low speed 92mm would work. In terms of noise, I think your biggest problem is going to be that whiny chipset fan. Why Intel chose to use such a hot and inefficient chipset with such a low power processor is beyond me.

360 and PS3's textures are muddy and look like ass. Do you live under a rock or some shit? The mod community is already releasing improvements to the menus and things.

I would be interested in this. For the people being surprised that their systems can play this, I have a 2.1ghz Athlon X2 and a Radeon HD3850 and I easily get 50+fps and 100+ indoors at 1440x900 with ultra high settings. They really optimized this game well. You could probably get away with a nvidia 6600GT if you kept the resolution to 1024x768 or so. Its not really any more demanding than oblivion. Thats a little more than decent my man. You have a pretty strong computer, even if your friend did not tell you as much. He was right on the recommendation though, you might want to thank him for that.

The problem is definitely with your integrated Intel graphics. They just aren't good enough to run TF2 or the Orange Box. Period. They were never designed to run anything like it. 1GB of RAM should be fine. Spring for the graphics first or you will never get anywhere.
