Ye Olde Sig Shoppe - * sig requests* (read first post)

Broken, there's my attempt, hope you like it. Any constructive criticism? -
Sounds better, but like I say earlier you just need to spend some time with it, work on it and come back in 2 weeks or a month or something like that.

[WIP] FFIX - You're not alone (getting ideas down)
Zephyr replied to MaZe's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Sounds great to me, I'm not putting my grimy hands on this beauty. -
Well, one thing I'm noticing is that with the transition to the music box and the one before that, both times it almost totally cuts out and starts again, this is often perfectly fine for mixes that have a lot of power and drive because they start right into it all at once, but since it cuts out, then starts into a music box, it seems weak. It's hard to think of where to go from there, it's such a mellow song, most of my thinking is done around rock and techno. You could try some cello for a nice touch in the bass spectrum, there's a bit of a lack for bass so far. Uuhhhhhh... maybe an organ synth or some piano? A light synth might be a nice touch, as for continuing with the melody I'm not sure, maybe arppegiate something... Good luck wherever it goes though.

Chrono Cross/Legend of Zelda - Dream of the Storm WIP
Zephyr replied to Derek Huelsman's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Clean up the stereo, fix whatever you think you need to, then submit it! Good luck chosing which game this goes under, although might I say it's a mix of my two favourite series. (okay, so chrono isn't a series, but i love chrono trigger at least.) -

I'm just wondering, which programs can open rar files? -

This series has an amazing soundtrack. -
That could help but I also think it's a bit too loud, I like the guitar a lot, how about turning down the clarinet a bit and let the guitar shine through (make sure you pan the guitar quite a bit nearer to center aswell). I like the song, but I still think there needs to a lot more to it. Try letting the song play and going through your sound/instrument library and play around a little bit with some sounds you think might work, if you like it then add it in, hopefully with one of them you'll get an idea that can lead you into a new section. This mix needs fooling around with, sink some time into that and then worry about mastering it later. Hope that helps,

Good call on the fading thing, I think for the most part everything you changed ended up for the better. I almost think you got rid of the clickiness with the music box a little too much, it sounds less real now. Sorry to criticize everything you do, but hey, that's what you're here for right?

Ye Olde Sig Shoppe - * sig requests* (read first post)

What would you like it to look like, I've never played the street fighter games so I really don't know what would work in a sig with him, you have any reference pics you want used? Sorry if I'm hi-jacking this shop, but I figure it'd be good practice to do a few sigs, this one will probably be sub-par, so when some one else comes around then they can do a better one and everyone's happy right? -
I'd personally say the guitar is panned a little far to the right, okay, all the way to the right. This mix could probably have a lot more to it, it's a little bland, a little short and doesn't show to much musical expression. Just let the song take you for a ride, oh yeah, and fix the clarinet.

I love using photoshop and actually I know my way around it quite well, sad thing is that I'm stuck with PS 6, a little outdated, I'd love to help make sigs too, but chances are they'd be subpar. (by the way, my current sig is in no way an example of my work, I just liked the idea, so I did a nice simple one of it.) -
(first movement) I like it a lot, but some parts near the beginning seem a little bit too seperated, like they're just clips thrown together, I think it would be better if there was a melody going to connect the two, just one melody line, (lead or background) that worked with both transitioning pieces that kept going as everything else changed. It could come in just a tad before each transition and then fade out shortly after, you don't need to use the same melody every time either. I have not experience whatsoever in re-mixing, thats just an idea I think might work. Good luck with everything.

Castlevania Bloodlines - Iron Blue Intention
Zephyr replied to lazygecko's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Quite nice, I like the electric piano at the end, needs go somewhere after this, how about a guitar solo? I also think that the background synth during the whole thing needs to be louder or panned or something I like the way is sounds but if I hadn't heard a little tiny bit of it in one of pauses I never would have known it was there. -
Donkey Kong Country 3 - Bonus theme (Western Style)
Zephyr replied to Pavos's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I like it, it's fun to listen to, could probably do without the first little sax diddly splitting up the piano at 00:50-00:57 also right before it, when the left hand piano stops it seems like you just crammed some notes in there to get the left hand over with. There are quite a few timing errors throughout the whole thing. I'm really glad you're fixing the panning when the bass comes in, it almost makes me sick, I get queasy easy... This could probably even be a standalone piano mix, but I think the other sounds add if they get cleaned up a bit. Great Job. -
Chrono Trigger - Unnamed Magus Arrangement
Zephyr replied to Rarrum's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Well, I'm no criticist, I love it, but I definitely have and issue with the ending, songs aren't just supposed to end. with the addition of the latin voices and low drums at the end, it should climax at least once more before the end, either go back to the beginning thing again or go into a new orchestral type of deal. It would also help add length, please get this finished and post it up, I'd definitely give it a download. -
Chrono Trigger - Judgement Tango (v2.6)
Zephyr replied to bobsideways's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I'd say that it could definitely use some more sounds, with a more varied soundscape. -
Hey there, Zephyr here, just letting you know that I've never done a re-mix in my life, so if you'd like just disregard anything I say, but here are my opinions- So far I really like the beginning section. I love the music box section and think it should stay, but it's definitely missing something, maybe cello or violin, but at the very least after one round of the music box, have the music box continue for another round DURING the following melody, then have it fade out like you did, I think the music box and that melody would do very nicely together. As for a name, I have no Idea, how about "musical mystery"

http://www.planetphotoshop.com/ This place isn't to bad, It's not specifically for PS 7, but I use PS 6 and it's helped me out a bit, I still prefer to fiddle around and figure things out on my own. I find it helps me understand better.

Oh, there it is, I didn't even know about that drop down menu, anyone know why it's not listed on the home-page with the rest? Or the bit-torrent?
-
Hey there everyone, I know this is the request forum, so this will be formed as a request since I have no idea where else to put this... I request the information as to why Relics of the Chozo isn't linked to as a site project and how come the bit torrent just downloads a rar file? I think this project deserves at least some mention, it is completed. Anyone have any answers?

Allright, I'm just getting into re-mixing so at the moment I'll just have 1 midi keyboard and fruity-loops going. So it should be okay for latency on that then?
-
Hey there again, Zephyr Tread here, I'm getting in on re-mixing and want to know if my soundcard should get an upgrade, I'm using an SB audigy 2 ZS audio, at least it think thats what I'm using... Will it have low enough latency? is there a way to test? Any tips on good sound cards?
