I'd personnally recommend the computer, what good is a synthesizer/worksation if your computer can't run it? I'd recommend sticking with software sided equipment and stuff, in my opinion it's just better, and you need to be able to run it all without it crashing on you. Just one man's opinion.

Thanks for posting this, I personally would love to have the flp froject file, it's a great way to learn how to do a bunch of stuff. Great job dude! As a piano player this really interests me. I think I might learn the song too, although I hate learning songs from midis... Oh well, I have no choice.

Haha, well we could tell you the most expensive most "1337" ones, but I think you'd be very disappointed with your purchase. If it was as easy as "which ones the best, there'd probably only be one program on the market. We should get a big header in the forums- DOWNLOAD THE DEMOS! then you really need to decide for yourself, I downloaded some demo's, I was recommended several times to go with reason, and I had a slight personal interest in FL studio, I tried both and I loved FL and didn't really understand Reason too well, if I had gone with the recommendations (other than the recommendations to try the demo) I would have been disappointed. NOW DON"T POST AGAIN TILL YOU'VE THOUGHT OUT WHAT TO SAY! CAPS IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!!!11!!!11337!!!11!!1!!shift!!!11!!1!1!!1!!1!!!

I just realized you can download in FPC in FL studio
Zephyr replied to Lunahorum's topic in Music Composition & Production
About the FPC, that uses sample fusion, one of the benefits of using FL studio, since you bought a product from Image line you get any stuff on sample fusion for free. All of the kits on FPC are free to download, but the one's that say "_free" can even be downloaded on the demo version of FL. I'm not sure about other things that use sample fusion, or if you can just go straight to sample fusion or not, but I think you can do that with Direct Wave aswell. Someone else can explain more about SF if they know. Oh, and another thing aboout the red lines, in most cases they're the loop points like Kirby said, but sometimes there are a bunch, not just 2. When there are more than 2 lines they work to split the sample into regions, which will be auto sliced into samples when using the slicer, but they really shine when used in a sampler. These points work together with time stretching when you run it on a sample with them. If they have regions it does some sound voodoo and makes it so that it can be stretched without affecting pitch. Obviously if you stretch too far it kind of ruins the sound, but it works very well within reason (the word, not the program). Edit: Looked at www.samplefusion.com a bit, and if you're logged in to your imageline account they have a bunch of stuff for free. A lot of it will alreday be included in your FL studio though. Haha, it surprises me how much I know about this program, I've only had it for a month and I still haven't done any remixes with it yet... I should get on that. Hope that helps, ~Zephyr Tread -
I'm new and I have questions
Zephyr replied to MetroidHunter26's topic in Music Composition & Production
You wanted to know what we use. If you want to get into the industry it'll cost you. I went with FL studio personally because I like it better, but as a plus the best edition costs about $150. -

Zephyr replied to MetroidHunter26's topic in Music Composition & Production
Don't think reason is your only option either, there are plenty of other DAW's, but some get more complicated, I personally started out with Fruity Loops, but I won't recommend either, try both demos, fool around and watch videos and such, see what you like best. -
Well, there are 2 ways that I know of to do this, the first is to record everything, then select in the pattern all of the data for the first note you want to do (Ex. select all the D#'s), then double click a note in the group and set the panning for that note. Do likewise for every note. The second one is more of a pain but works for live play, first decide how picky you are about how smooth the fade from side to side whould be as you go down/up the keyboard, then clone your soundfont channel the correct amount of times for that amount (say it doesn't need to be too precise and you could do with top being all right, middle-top being mostly right, middle-bottom being mostly left and bottom being all left, then you would make 4 channels, one for each section.) After cloning the channel, make a layer and set all your clones and the original channel as children of that layer, then you go to each channel seperately and adjust it's keyboard range and panning so that the keyboard range is spread evenly throughout the clones and the panning makes a transition as you go down. Hope that helps, and I hope you understand it.

Anyway to change EQ dynamically with note changes?
Zephyr replied to Lunahorum's topic in Music Composition & Production
Thanks Miku, I wasn't really expecting anyone to see that question in there and answer, I had forgotten about that application, I personally don't like working with FPC (probably mainly because I don't know to much about how to use it.) I'll probably just use this now instead. Thanks. -
Personally I wouldn't recommend getting Sytrus right away, it's a big investment and is pretty much just a set of samples if you don't understand subtractive synthesis, it take a bit to pick up but you can use a mix of videos and messing around to figure things out. Oh, and HoBoKa, they're called patches first of all, and second of all, the number of patches doesn't represent the power of a synthesizer, Toxic may not have too many patches (although in my opinion it has plenty) but it's still very powerful if you know how to use it. Also, Synth1, which comes with no patches, is one of my favourites because it's relatively powerful and forces you to make your own stuff. Just a few things that bugged me...

EQUO has sliding bars and such.

Anyway to change EQ dynamically with note changes?
Zephyr replied to Lunahorum's topic in Music Composition & Production
It's not hard to sample a note so you might as well try it, and even if you don't like stretching etc. you can sample them with my suggestion so you won't have to stretch them. Although DDR Kirby's way is 100% more time efficient. -
Anyway to change EQ dynamically with note changes?
Zephyr replied to Lunahorum's topic in Music Composition & Production
Well... First of all I'd say change your EQ to make it work, I'm not sure how you got your EQ to sound nice only for one note, but you should be able to come to something that works for all of them. If you absolutely can't do without your specially equalized A note then I suppose you could: 1: Record the A with the right EQ to a sample then do it again and again with every note, then take your samples and put them into whatever it is that can route them all into a keyboard (FPC I guess, Is there any other way to do it?) Then you have all of them there perfectly EQ'd, but you might lose some of the flexible of whatever generator you're using. 2. Automate it all... 3: Well, you could make a layer, then make a copy of the generator you're using for each note you need, route each channel through a different insert and put EQ onto each one seperately, you'll need to assign the layer to play all of the generators. (Make sure you assign the keyboard ranges on each channel to the note it's supposed to be) Hope one of those ones work, If you need to I'd probably go the sample route. -

Well, me and El Pollo diablo had decided to do a collab, but that doesn't seem to be happening. He's not returning my PM's. I know time is pretty much out, but I'm just wondering how you guys start off, I've never done a re-mix before but I've got the equipment now and am ready to start. Any tips at all would be good, and if anyone knows where el pollo is, let me know -
Hey guys Zephyr Tread here, I'm just wondering if there's any real advantages to using the fruity soundfont player (35$) instead of the free SFZ VSTi. 35$ isn't that much, but why spend it if you can have one that works the same and is free? Are there any drawbacks to going with SFZ instead? Thanks.

Exporting regions to FPC with Edison?
Zephyr replied to Radiowar's topic in Music Composition & Production
Yup, it's handy. I would have just said to take your selected sample and use the drag button to put it in fpc, but some people need intense step by step instructions. -
Exporting regions to FPC with Edison?
Zephyr replied to Radiowar's topic in Music Composition & Production
It's pretty easy actually, just follow these steps: 1. go to FPC and choose the pad you want your first sample data to go to, 2. Clear that pad of any other samples, (select them and press the delete button 3. Open up the audio file you want to sample into edison 4. Select the portion you want in edison, 5. just above the samples waveform window there should be a row of buttons, click and hold the one on the far right, (it's got an arrow with a page icon, make sure FPC is visible while on this step) 6. drag it down into the sample section of that fpc pad. 7. rinse and repeat Hope that helps, Edisons sample drag/export feature is great, you can use it for pretty much anywhere that uses samples. Enjoy. -
Uhh... Not sure what problems you're talking about, but watch lots of video tutorials until you at least sort of know what you're doing.

Hey everyone, I recently bought Fl studio producer and have been fiddling with it for a bit, anyways, when I got my e-mail about my reg-code and everything and registered on the site, I found out my username is my name without spaces followed by a ton of numbers, and my password is also a ton of numbers. Is there any way to change either? I looked around quite a bit but couldn't find anything. It's more of a cosmetic issue but it would be great if I could change it. Thanks.

I can help you out there, simple solution, On the channel settings menu, at the top of the box to the right of the pitch knob there should be an lcd with a number (default is 2) just move that up or down to the number of semitones you want set as the max. In your case 3, for a minor third. Hope that helps!

Zephyr replied to Geoffrey Taucer's topic in Music Composition & Production
My set-up: Software: Fl studio 7 (producer) Hardware: M-audio Axiom 61 VSTi: Synth1-free synthesizer VST effects: izotope vinyl ( effect to make a track sound like an old record, it was free) Meager I know, but I just started this month. -
FLMC - Fruity Loops Music Competition 7: Super Metroid [VOTING]
Zephyr replied to Gollgagh's topic in Competitions
Hey everyone, Zephyr here, I'm a bit of a newbie to re-mixing but you've gotta start somewhere, I'd be very interested in doing a bit of a collab/mentorship deal with someone. I can't help out a ton, but I'll offer anything I can do. I have a keyboard and can play piano well. if anyone is the slightest bit interested please let me know. I realize that this is relatively late in the competition to be coming in, but I'd like to help anyways, you can have full credit if you like. Thanks you very much.
