  1. Many thanks for the mod review!

  2. Thanks for the breakdown, Crowbar Man! Now I'm going to spend way too much of the day listening to that stuff on Youtube.. edit: Wow, Lagrange Point sounds incredible. The FM sound is well used and the tone of the pieces is often incredibly melancholic.
  3. I'm surprised you didn't, there. =)
  4. This is a lot of fun to jam on the guitar. Maybe if I do have a moment..
  5. I'll try to fill out my arrangement a bit this week for some progress. I haven't even listened to it in a while, which should make it a fresh encounter. =)
  6. That's a quite nice, pleasant and malleable source indeed. I start getting ideas already, though I'm pretty sure I don't have the time to realize them! But good luck to everyone entering this round, should be interesting to hear your pieces!
  7. Yeah, damn those casual gamers for gaming. Keep your dirrrty hands off my hobby. How dare you make up a market for game companies. But yeah, support the stuff you want to see by buying it, definitely. If I wanted to blame something, how about the ever-increasing demand for production values, eye candy and technological progress and the upward-spiraling budgets that come with that? I personally happen to like that "retro" stuff & gameplay focusing game developers, which doesn't demand so much money thrown at production values. In my areas of interest there seems to be just more and more killer stuff coming out all the time.
  8. A very pleasant tune. I quite liked the shift in the middle, worked very well and gave the arrangement a unique feel. I thought there was a flute towards the beginning that was a little bit piercing. On the other hand I quite liked the gating applied to the pad to make it more rhythmic, that was not something I expected but worked very well, and in a sense even preshadowed the more beat-oriented later half. edit: Not sure about the piercing flute comment, it might be these particular headphones I happen to be wearing right now
  9. I quite likely don't have the time to record the guitar & bass I've written, but I'll try to put down some chip sounds or something in their place. It's going to be a sketch from me as far as the compo goes, but like I pledged I'll finish it eventually. I'm pretty happy with how it's going! Quite similar to the Mega Man II track from PRC270 that ended up on Legacy.
  10. Congrats Blaine! You did good. I had a fun first MnP!
  11. Little Nemo would be great if you ask me! That was a really atmospheric game back in the day, though maybe the game is less known, being reminded of it definitely immediately says "8-bit Nintendo" to me!
  12. I got my entry in as well.
  13. Mine's coming along all right. Just spent some time on it. I hope I have the time before deadline to extend it to a full complete structure & add some variation & stuff.
  14. I've kinda dropped the ball on our track, I'll try to get back to it as soon as I can.
  15. Aww crap, time just flies by doesn't it.
  16. Can you actually download the episode as an MP3? (I saw a link to iTunes but I don't have that.)
  17. Okay, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the clarification!
  18. Superb on all fronts. The rhythmic change-ups, the break with a bit more distant sound, great, tight playing. Really liked the subtle synths. Cool source tune and recognizably, yet creatively interpreted.
  19. I tried this and I got this and I liked it, so I think this works.
  20. Yup. I added a compressor because of that, but I guess I'll just automate the volume (edit: or indeed, EQ) for that. It's ok it raises up the volume a bit, but it shouldn't be detrimental. Thanks for pointing that out!
  21. Thanks! I'll take a look. I figured the lead would be more piercing though!
  22. My favourite theme keeps changing twice a day.. Would it be okay to bring in other collaborators in the doubles tourney btw?
  23. Yeah, that's exactly what I find them quite useful for too (assuming the transcription is accurate..) Well, frankly I often can't figure out something easy and slow by myself either..
