Remixer name - JB Sasserman Real name - John Bonham Email - tehsasr@gmail.com User ID - 32278 --- Game arranged - Street Fighter II / Super Street Fighter II Individual song arranged - True Ending This track was basically a theme to my childhood, and it was produced using Logic Express 9, with me playing guitar through a Pod X3 Live. Style wise I was trying to give it something of a Joe Satriani vibe, with perhaps a little bit of Brian May in the solo. I tried not to over complicate it, seeing as there are so many guitar parts, as well as me making my own additions. (such as in the pre-chorus) Thanks, John -----------------------------------------------------------------

Your own comments about the mix: With the ten year anniversary of the Sega Dreamcast passing a few months back last year, I was inspired to do an arrangement/remix of a song from a game on the console. I selected Shenmue II, because Shenmue's soundtrack is amazing. It's mainly orchestral and atmospheric, something I usually don't care for but this is a rare case. Well, I made the mix with the new FL Studio 9. I also looked for many types of VSTs, specfically orchestral VSTs. I also decided to try this new drum machine VST I downloaded a few back called Maschine, which is made by Native Instruments. The difference I see between samples and drum machines is that it's more organized and you can do much more with it. Also, I have never made it on OCReMix and each time I get a no on the judging panels, it lights a fire under me and makes me try harder the next time. The last song I submitted on OCReMix "Synthesis" was no where near the quality in terms of arrangement and production that "Fangmei's Celebration" has. Well, I'm low on words. Hopefully you enjoy this piece. ----------------------------------------------------------------

ReMixer name: halc Real name: Andrew Wheeler UserID: 23301 Game: Kirby Super Star Individual Song: Bubbly Clouds Name of Remix: Blowing Bubbles in Space This is a track I made back in 2008 for the Kirby Super Star project, before I was taken in as co-director. This was one of the first mixes where I went all out with in game sfx, treating them like percussive and sometimes also pitched instruments. It's slightly dated in comparison to my most recent works, but I had a lot of fun making it and I hope you all enjoy!~ -----------------------------------------------------------------

XD ) Your email address: jaka.cibej (at) gmail (dot) com Your website: / Your userid: 23355 (http://ocremix.org/forums/member.php?u=23355) Submission Information Name of game(s) arranged: Final Fantasy Name of individual song(s) arranged: The Prelude Additional information about game including composer, system, etc. (if it has not yet been added to the site): / Link to the original soundtrack (if it is not one of the sound archives already available on the site): / Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind it, how it was made, etc.: I got the idea for this remix while on a bus driving home. It's basically my first real remix (I usually just altered the instrumentation of MIDI files and made a better-sounding version of the song). The Prelude from Final Fantasy has always been one of my favourite songs, so I simply had to make my own rendition of it. I made the remix in FL Studio using various sound libraries (EWQL Symphonic Orchestra, EWQL Symphonic Choirs, EWQL RA, EWQL Stormdrum) and some soundfonts and VST plugins. I think the result is a pretty cool soundtrackish version of the Prelude, I hope people will enjoy listening to it at least half as much as I did remixing it. Thank you very much for running such a wonderful site! Best wishes J. ----------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnUtfA71kvk I like the way this mix is put together, the sound is clean and spacious. In addition, it's clear that Jaka has put some effort into adding some detail and dynamics. However, I don't think those differences really add up, they're all too slight. It sounds like a lush cover of the original song. On that basis, gotta NO. In addition, the song doesn't really ramp up as much as it sounds like it should once the choir comes in. NO

Yeah, it seems like it would be more trouble to make than it's worth, given how easy it is to check your sent e-mails.

Remix title: Insomniac Skies Remixer name: diotrans Real name: Amy Hsieh Email address: amy@amyhsieh.com Website: www.amyhsieh.com UserID: 21446 Game: DDR MAX/Dance Dance Revolution 6th Mix Platform: PS2/Arcade Song: Look to the Sky Composer: Sota Fujimori Source: There are several remixes of Look to the Sky in the DDR series, but the true color extended mix is the one that I based my remix on: I used to be a huge DDR freak, back when the DDR craze was at its height. Besides playing the game obsessively, I loved the soundtrack and frequently listened to many of the songs from it. Look to the Sky was always my favorite song from DDR, and even though I no longer play the game or listen to the soundtrack, I still think the true color extended mix is amazing. I really have Level99 to thank for the existence of this remix, because it all started when he suggested participating in the PRC's annual free round (where every participant is free to remix any source, with bonus points if there are no OCRemixes of that source). I knew that the DDR soundtrack had not been remixed much on the site, so I instantly thought of my favorite DDR song, Look to the Sky! I named this "Insomniac Skies" because I was having major insomnia at the time, and a lot of the work on the song was done in a very sleep-deprived state. Since the PRC version, I added a real violin and wrote original lyrics for the 2nd verse to make it less repetitive and to fit the insomnia theme of the title. Many thanks to Level99 because this remix wouldn't even exist if it weren't for him, to Level99 and Palpable for convincing me to polish it up and submit it because I really wouldn't have if they hadn't insisted it was good enough to sub, and to Palpable for all the production help again. Lyrics: 1st Verse: Feeling sad and lonely 'cause I can't find you Call your telephone and there's never an answer Said you love me, kissed me, we were in heaven Said I'm sorry, love you, want you forever Chorus: Every night I look at the sky Call your name And wonder where you are Every night I look at the sky Baby, miss you Won't you come back 2nd Verse: Stars are out and I'm not lying in bed Tossed and turned, got up and walked out instead Minutes pass I wait here wondering why We were happy, now it looks like goodbye ----------------------------------------------------------------

I originally wanted to try something along the lines of Paper Mario, but I ended up going more of a chiptuney route. Hopefully I've still captured some of the epic quirkiness I'd intended. If this happens to get judged before the project's release and it gets accepted, keep it on hold, please! ---------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnIkwi2Uks4

Brandon Strader Brandon Strader oinkness@gmail.com http://brandon.rainwound.com/ 3123 NiGHTS Into Dreams Gate of your Dreams LINK TO REMIX BELOW I have never played a NiGHTS game before, but was asked to create this song by an acquaintance. The original song is very short, and only has the one key change in it. Not a lot going on in it. As a result of this, I went a little overboard with the arrangement while still staying true to the original. I added a lot of extra "flair", especially in the percussion. I recorded live bongos, tambourine, wedding bells, maracas, and I even went as far as using a coffee can as a percussive instrument. I don't usually write in this style, but I thought the contrast between real instruments (percussive and guitar, bass) against the electronic ones (everything else) was an interesting conflict, to say the least. Also, the auto-tuned whistling at the beginning was pretty fun, and a nod towards the hybridization of real and electronic. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Another chord-y mix - this uses the chords of the original, which get slightly modified in the second half of the song. I can't say I really thought this was a remix of the source - I actually thought I might have been listening to the wrong source before that little cameo of the melody at the end. Don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful track, I love the ambience, the beat, the guitar solo. Apart from some slight mixing issues when the guitar comes in, the song is perfect. Well, except for that one big thing. I feel bad that I can't pass this, but maybe the other judges will see it differently. NO

This song is very upbeat and innocent, so I wanted to keep that clean and cheery sound when working on my mix. I drew some inspiration from other "clean" pop and rock bands like Gary Go and U2 along with some indie rock, like Amusement Parks on Fire. I'm also a huge fan of Drum and Bass music, so you'll see some influences in the structure of the song. Made in FL Studio 8. Hey judges, ProtoypeRaptor here with a radically different mix than my previous sub: an orchestral remix of UN Owen Was Her?, the theme of an extra level boss in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, of the Touhou series. I've tried to take what was mentioned on my last orchestral work and try to correct it and, well, embarrassingly enough, there was a switch thrown when I mixed the old one down. It just goes to show to double check the system EQ before you finish something up....sheesh. Anyway, this orchestration is heavily inspired by Danny Elfman's works (specifically Beetlejuice/Men in Black) and tries to capture the playfully evil nature of a 500 year old vampire child named Flandre as only Elfman can do. While it's not a very complex, intricate piece, I do find it conjures up the dark, brooding, most definitely black and white image of imminent death at the hands of a psychotic who looks like she's 12 quite effectively. Also she has lasers. Good luck with that. source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYQHMSN13j4&feature=related remix: http://soundcloud.com/prototyperaptor/devils-advocate Thanks for listening, -PrototypeRaptor (Jonathan Paulsen) ---------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYQHMSN13j4&feature=related

I don't think they sell the actual WAVs (I may be wrong about that), I think they convert it to whatever formats they need across the websites they give your music to. On their own site, it's definitely MP3 they sell. -

We've got a remix of Taj's Challenge on the panel right now. I've seen a few DKR submissions lately, I wonder if it's having a small revival.

Title: Castlemania 2010 Game: Castlevania Themes: Stage 3, King DeDeDe's theme Remixer: chthonic Userid: 3842 I had never really played a Castlevania game aside from a short experience with one of the GBA titles, but thanks to the Wii's Virtual Console, I was introduced to the very first title in the series and I was not disappointed. Aside from the solid gameplay and fairly impressive graphics, what most caught my attention was the fantastic chip soundtrack. After playing the game for about 30 minutes I turned the power off and made it my goal to obtain the OST and start my next solo remix. A month or so later, here it is. Try not to take it too seriously, but remember that I did put a large amount of effort into the production and arrangement. Hope you all love it, and it's good to be back. ----------------------------------------------------------------- , King Dedede's Theme

Comments on the remix: Both arranged tracks were given different scales to match each other. Basically, I then took portions from both tracks (main melody, chords, drums) and blended them in one passage, creating several passages like this. My style is ambient-like, so there's nothing too fancy about the re-arranging technically speaking; it's all about atmosphere. ---------------------------------------------------------------- ,

I loved the soundtrack to this game too, very different from other VGM at the time. Heck, even today I don't feel like there's a lot of music like this out there. I guess Leftfield or Prodigy are similar. Maybe I'll try my hand at remixing it sometime.

The latest Way Out West album was very disappointing, definitely not liking the simplified 80's-inspired direction they took, apart from the vocal tracks. U2's and Depeche Mode's latest albums were both lackluster, especially considering that the albums that immediately proceeded them were really good (How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, Playing the Angel). I've been feeling let down by a bunch of old favorites lately, though the Pet Shop Boys album last year was one of their best ever.

This is a very close call, the arrangement is great. There's a lot of detailed programming but a clear emphasis on the melody, and it sounds like one of those songs you'd hear on Pure Moods. I really enjoyed it. Even production-wise, I'd say this is basically there, 90%. I noticed there was too much focus on the left-side of the spectrum - if you moved some of the guitar parts to the other side, you'd solve the balance and it would sound more like two guitars, which solves your "three-handed guitarist" problem. Bass could be brought up a little more, though be careful with muddiness from the other instruments. You could also push the lead guitars back a little; with them being so upfront, the slightly unrealistic sequencing is apparent. I almost went conditional YES because the fixes probably won't take long. Please PM me if you make a new version and we can fast-track a revote. NO (resubmit)
