  1. Sounds like my strategy of waiting until they release FL 12.01 is a good one.
  2. A couple reviews: http://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/3ds-eshop/korg_m01d http://createdigitalmusic.com/2013/12/korg-m01d-nintendo-3ds-surprising-sequencing-mobile-music-workstation/ And here's the manual as .bmp files (yeah, that's how they distribute it): http://www.detune.co.jp/_src/sc851/KORG_M01D_e_manual_bmps_for_US.zip That should help a bit, too, if you haven't already seen those links.
  3. It's pretty linear. Look up a few demos on YouTube if you want--you basically have 64 patterns to work with at any given time, and they're in place. Just gotta compose the song in order, basically, from start to finish, although I think you can insert and remove patterns. Also, if you're familiar with step sequencing via the piano roll in FL, then this isn't really much of a stretch. I picked it up quickly.
  4. One of my favorite things I've ever bought on the 3DS. I'm not very good at it yet but it includes a user manual and is a fantastic sketchpad. I know you've been doing some older sampler/MIDI-based stuff lately, so I think this would be RIGHT up your alley.
  5. My only crit on this track is that everything is sequenced so tightly, which I suppose is kinda a side effect of using virtual guitars, drums, everything, etc. It's clean, well-mixed, and well-arranged, so it's not a dealbreaker, but it would be nice if you would loosen up a bit next time YES
  6. My personal favorite bass guitar line in the world at this point in time:
  7. As long as you're not directly claiming that it was a continuous, unedited take, then I've got nothing against it, haha. Studios exist for a reason, yo! They don't call it "studio magic" for nothing.
  8. Most of these devices should be class-compliant, so I don't see why they wouldn't work with XP as well. Generic drivers, all that good jazz.
  9. I feel like this will make judging easier, knowing that I have only three genres to which I need to hold submissions as a standard. I know I've seen this in the works for a while, but I'm really glad it's finally here.
  10. Hi Rick, I'm interested in speaking with you about this project. I've added you on Skype--my username is electromikebirch.
  11. A little birdie told me that one of the SCB tracks is in this mix set.... https://soundcloud.com/flexstyle/con-nichiwa-2015-live-and-unedited
  12. If Brad doesn't want to build it for you, then sign me up to help, Shariq!
  13. No, but that's because I don't use Ableton. I've never gotten it to work the same way as my Launchpad Minis in FL, though. Not sure what I'm doing wrong and don't feel the need to figure it all out just right now.
  14. A New Challenger appears! And they have scored a hit! Checked out the Ken video, fun stuff guys! Really enjoyed what you've got so far, can't wait to hear more!
  15. I'd love to see Jules submit something to the site. Remember, us judges have no control over what gets submitted--we can only approve or deny it once it hits our inbox. He's a super-cool dude, though, and his skills are undeniable. Personally speaking, I'd love to feature him on a track, and I may just have the thing here in a little while....
  16. Ack, can't believe I missed Mokram's kind comments here--thank you, sir! And yeah, I'm really psyched about how well Edward did with the concept I gave him for the cover. Turned out SO WELL!
  17. I hear they're releasing an update very shortly, so you should be alright no matter what when that happens. I'm afraid I haven't got much more than that for you, though.
  18. Mastering the tracks right now! And it's more work than I thought it was going to be.
  19. I think I have to agree with the NOs here in that the ending is just too abrupt for me to sign off on. Basically, all I want to hear is a finished song, and then I'm ready to YES it. Production improvements could happen, to be sure, but the song isn't bad as-is in that area. NO (please resub!)
  20. Color me interested. No idea what my life will look like at that point, but I've always loved these compos and I'm averaging participation in about every other one, so I'm due.
  21. New ToeJam & Earl game on Kickstarter, by one of the original creators of the game and rightful IP holder: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1578116861/toejam-and-earl-back-in-the-groove JUST IN CASE YOU WANTED EXCITEMENT.
  22. The obvious-yet-time-consuming solution would be to just let one single channel of MIDI data play at a time, recording it and then lining all the recordings up. I don't know if there's any better way than that.
