  1. I say quality + quantity = winning.
  2. This is my current favorite cover/remix of the Angry Birds theme. http://youtu.be/7UCm6uyzNE8 And I'm totally doing a dubstep remix if I get the extra time.
  3. Oh hey man, if you'd be so kind as to hit me up via AIM, Skype, MSN, IRC, Yahoo, or whatever, I'd love to be able to discuss that matter of stems with you.

  4. Uh, WINNING. This is an excellent song, and that dubstep stuff adds a lot of character without going overboard. Ace work, Jordan and Ashleigh!
  5. If I recall correctly, the most recent version of Safari was playing nice, too. Just FYI.
  6. Y'all at Space Whale may well have hit something great here. The game is addicting, the music is excellent, and it's just strange enough to stand out! Nice work.
  7. Listening to the album preview on Bandcamp (and I'll prolly download it, maybe donate if my bank account isn't sitting too low) right now, and I digs this album of chippy goodness quite a lot!
  8. I lol'd. GTA: Don't worry, when I actually get down to making a mix, I get it done in a couple days at most, generally speaking. I work quickly, once inspiration hits. You can ask Emunator to verify this, if you must, and I'm pretty sure Hylian knows I'll get my work done on his project, too. Bear in mind that I (and a bunch of other people, I suspect) am finishing up a grueling semester of college in which I had the misfortune to take 17 credit hours and am almost-failing one very tough class. I also work part-time, am about to start a full-time summer internship, and have lots of other "life" duties as well. Cut me a bit of slack. Also, do consider this--I'm prioritizing projects in order of when deadlines hit, and the Oracle project still has a lot of deadline left. Bear this in mind as well--I'm not totally devoted to OCR, music-wise. I have other projects. Some of them I get paid for, and some of them have much tighter deadlines. OCR is a hobby that I happen to be really good at. My post urging everyone to hurry was meant to be in good fun, hence the ":-D" at the end, as well as the prominent use of the word "y'all." I'm a bit surprised that someone who's not even a project artist, let alone director, is calling me out for not working on music that is entirely voluntary (and which I still have every intention of completing). tl;dr I'm cranky because I have too many finals and some guy who doesn't make music is calling me out for something I didn't do. Also, Brandon is funny.
  9. Y'all (and by "y'all" I mean "y'all who haven't finished yer tracks) need to get yer butts in gear. I wanna be able to have this project mastered by the time I have to go back to school! With the way summer flies by, you'd better just be safe and finish up NOW.
  10. Virtual analog doesn't get much phatter than Sylenth1.
  11. I'll prolly wait 'til the Bandcamp release, since I loves me some ALAC files, but congrats on the album!

    Rayman

I'm planning on doing a couple remixes eventually, since Rayman (a) was my first game I ever really played seriously and ( I love the soundtrack too! We'll see if I ever get around to such a thing, but believe you me--I want to see more Rayman remixes too!
  13. Small, eensy-weensy, all-I-can-afford donation sent! <3 OCR.
  14. Hey Rozovian, I just came across your Free AU guide, and I thought I'd point you to The Fish Fillets package. I currently use the VST versions myself, but they also have AU versions. It's a package of a compressor (which is one of my three go-to compressors), a noise gate (my go-to gate), and a de-esser (my go-to solution for that as well). The plugins are fairly simplistic, controls-wise, but they do have stuff under the hood to tinker with. They're drop-dead easy to get something entirely usable out of, too! http://www.digitalfishphones.com/main.php?item=2&subItem=5

  15. This probably isn't quite what you're looking for, but about 5 miles from the ASU main campus is the school I graduated from, the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences. It's a place that specializes in audio engineering and recording--the technical side, not the musical side. Now, as a graduate, I can say that it was one of the best things that happened to me as a producer/engineer/musician, but it's not for everyone. They do include sections on video game audio, music business law (contracts 'n such), and digital recording, but they're also VERY focused on studio recording for the most part. As a sidenote, GO DEVILS!
  16. Here's another (stellar) cover of Eleanor Rigby.
  17. Been digging this mix ever since it was released on Bandcamp. This is what I show my friends when they ask me "what's dubstep?"
  18. I'd vote for style three, personally. Pixelized 8-bit has been done to DEATH, and if you're not gonna do the JRPG style (the sample you chose looks pretty even by today's standards, I'd love to see something that beautiful get pulled off) then that's my other favorite. Don't make it just a total rip-off of everything else that's been done before, graphics-wise.
  19. This album has one of the highest average standards of quality across each song that I've ever heard on an OCR album. Granted, the sample size (under twenty songs as opposed to over fifty) is a lot smaller than some albums I've heard, too, but kudos to all involved--it's an album to be proud of!
  20. Oddly enough, I'm just the opposite. I'm first a producer and engineer, second a musician, and this tends to show in my tastes. I can't listen to a song if it's recorded/mixed poorly--I just can't look past the production errors.
  21. I think someone earlier hit the nail on the head, in saying that "if it fits your artistic vision, go for it, but if not, you got problems." That's pretty much how I feel--if a patch doesn't fit what you're doing, don't force the issue. On the other hand, I've been inspired to create certain songs by a single loop or patch which I then elaborated on, and I'm pretty sure my "artistic vision" was only helped by the existence of the patch/loop. The difference between the synthesizer users and the analog instrumentalists is that synth users are inherently given far more options. I guess I just feel like it's a shame to waste those options--mastery of your instrument includes knowing how to make it sound how YOU want it to sound, and you're not using your instrument to its fullest potential if you're stuck with presets.
  22. This sums up my feelings almost exactly. I see nothing wrong with using your resources, provided you use them in a creative manner, but the totally preset-laden generic rap beat or "techno" song really annoys me. Don't even get me started on the Black Eyed Peas, haha.
  23. Reminds me a lot of here. This, in case you're wondering, is a VERY good thing, since MC is one of my favorite new artists!Great ReMix, I'm digging it a lot!
  24. I tend to hate on a lot of country music rather vehemently, but I have my exceptions. For one thing, bluegrass music--the Appalachian-derived folk stuff with lotsa banjos, fiddlin', and general fun--is one of my favorite genres to see live. Also, I tend to hate a lot less on country musicians that I've been able to observe personally as being humble, down-to-earth, hard-working, genuinely talented musicians, like my buddy . Dude's poor as heck, waiting tables to get himself through school, but he's starting to climb the charts with singles like the one I just linked. How can you hate on that?I guess living in Nashville for a few months took the edge off my country hate, but don't even get me started on Taylor Swift.
