  1. Not sure how much this helps, but the song is created around the Octatonic scale. If you use that source, it might help to keep that in mind.
  2. Haha, it sounds a little like Battletoads, with the chiptune timbres you used in the beginning. Love the funk that this produces, here. 1:26 - 1:43 sounds very... strange; it doesn't fit either the source or what you've put into your remix. You'll likely need to tweak that part considerably to make it work, or even scrap it and put something else in there. The main synth used is a little bit thin, and overall the track is pretty hollow. I'd love to hear that soundscape filled with maybe one or two more textures (probably not a pad, though, with the style you've got going here). I like it. Keep it up.
  3. Well, right now it only has two participants involved - most of the hype has waned considerably. Most of the compos do this, toward the end, with the exception of the Wily compo (since that had the full participation of every member every round, everyone remained interested in it throughout). Admittedly, though, the whole Sonic craze is soaking up most of the attention right now, though.
  4. Nah - I'm sure Darkesword will get to this within a day. Patience is a virtue, after all.
  5. Yup, and it was awesome. It was my desktop for the longest time.
  6. I would most certainly approve of that.
  7. Haha, I noticed your message on DjP's visitor's board. Not sure if he answered it for you or not, but the short of it is that this isn't a site where you upload music. You submit the music in question and a panel of judges do a quality control evaluation of the track (which is very stringent, by the way). If the song passes the examination, then it goes on a waiting list for music to be posted on the front page.

It's a pretty long process, but it's for the sake of quality control - hopefully it's for the best. If you want evaluation before submitting, though (saves time, as getting to the panel takes months, in itself) you can post your remix to the WIP boards where people like myself will let you know what the judges will say about it.

    Best of luck.

  8. Heard PsyNES' track - you guys are off to a good start, for sure.
  9. Alright, thanks - that's what I needed, there.
  10. To what address? To my understanding, the submit button is supposed to open up an e-mail that you send, but it's not opening for me, at all, here.
  11. Ah, my childhood. For those that didn't have a childhood, though, you should .Really, it sounds like you have a lot of fun with this track. Among the funktastic rhythms, the stuttering, and voice clips from Shredder, this is a really enjoyable listen. I don't much I can add to this; nice work on it.
  12. ... is anyone else having issues submitting their music to the SF contest? I'm not getting any sort of confirmation that my submissions are getting through. Any idea of how to get around this?
  13. It's a relatively minor offense, since this guy doesn't get much traffic and he's not been online for years, but 's someone taking Zircon & Tyler's "When All Hope has Faded" track. If that bugs you, Zircon, you can go ahead and send a notice out against him. There's not much else one can do with it, though, seeing as the uploader looks to have moved on, so it's not like he can just edit it or anything.
  14. You mean other than a complete lack of inspiration and ability to finish said track. It's not always about the time it could take, but also about the ability to complete said action that could get in the way of finishing, as well, you know.
  15. Dude, its your birthday. Happy birthday mah man.

  16. Well, be ready to scratch me off the list. I'mma renderin' it and getting ready to send ya the finished product, as I type this. After I get whatever input you may have I'll either make quick changes or, if all is well, send you the WAV with my blessings .
  17. Pit runs were pretty fun, too, for the hardcore player that didn't have the gear to insure survival for the Baal runs.
  18. To his credit, Nobuo Uematsu did mention that ELP was one of his biggest inspirations (not sure where, might've been in the Advent Children extras or something, in an interview). It's very likely that he was influenced by them.
  19. Well, SuperiorX, you could ask any of us pancakes if one of us would be willing to trade spots with Rexy. I'm afraid that I can't, myself, now that I've scheduled around this time, but perhaps one of us with a bit of a more flexible schedule could transform into a reptile for her sake so she has an extra week to figure out her computer issues.
  20. The guy changed his post to mention that the music was originally stolen (and not created) by Fairuzons. I don't think scolding him any more is worth the effort, guys - his attitude is poor, and he's been a jerk to the people posting about it in there but as an average YT user that all should just go without saying. He DID change the post to make people aware that it was stolen, so he's technically not in the wrong, anymore. I think we can safely stop muddying his comments section, as there's nothing more the guy can do for us (taking down the music actually wouldn't be helpful, so let's try not to get him to take down the music, for now ). I mean, go ahead and discuss politics and opinions with him if you want, but just know that at this point he's not doing anything wrong, anymore. We can continue our search for the mysterious musician that has not been properly credited without worrying about Fairuzons getting any more credit.
  21. Derp, I haven't been paying attention. Actually, mod reviews are solely restricted to VG remixes that are trying to be posted onto OCR, as the moderator's job is to evaluate a track as an OCR judge might, if it were to go to the panel. Seeing that OCR doesn't release original music, placing a 'Mod review' for originals will get you no response, anyway. Sorry, normally I go behind people's backs and edit the Mod review out of the original posts section, but you seem to have been under the radar for a little while. Short answer, no, you can't post a "Mod review" thread in Community - according to the rules in this thread you could post an album advertisement for your band, as you're a remixer (it does need to be your band, though, and not someone else's) - just don't expect the Mods to review it. You also shouldn't use the "Mod Review" prefix in any original track or album thread. This section shares it's options for prefixes with the "Workshop: Game Remixes" section so it shows up as an option, but it actually will get you no response from the Mods, and it's more likely that I'll simply edit your prefix without you knowing. 'Cause I'm like that. If you want mods to review the albums or tracks you could always PM one of us, though - there's no guarantee, but you'll have better luck with a response than posting a non-OCR bound track or album under Mod review.
  22. Perhaps I'm a little paranoid, then. I've lost the source to one track that I've wanted to finish for a while, now, and now I can't because it literally doesn't exist anywhere else. Seriously, try hunting for the soundtrack to the PICO game 'Sailor Moon S' (even just finding gameplay footage would work). If you find something let me know, but to my knowledge the video I was referencing was the only one in existence, and it's gone now. This thread isn't about my paranoia, though; the track in question is probably safe from that issue.
  23. Hey, if people are going to go to war with this guy who uploaded it for being an idiot, please be sure to save the video first so in the case that it's taken down we can all still have a reference if people are interested in finding the song.
  24. I've heard dissent against auto-mute, but I don't know if it would be as bad as people speculate. The most common problem is that it would allow bullies to abuse it, but if it's a percentage based issue rather than a 'If a person is muted 'X' number of times' sort of thing then the people muting to abuse the system would need to SIGNIFICANTLY outdo the people that are muting in order to have any affect on the game. As long as players continue to do what they normally do (that is, simply mute the offending player) then there will be no problem with abuse. Another common complaint is that there will be no chance for redemption for the offensive players if they remain on auto-mute, and again this will not be an issue for most players, either, if the system is based on a percentage. In essence, once the people that have been muted reaches over 10% of the community (and from what I hear about online gaming, this wouldn't take long), the people who were muted the least in that 10% would lose the auto-mute feature. If they behave then great, they can have their voice back, but if not they'll go right back into the muted section while some other person gets a shot at freedom. The concern that I personally have with that system is that unless someone has some metrics on how many players are assholes on the games that this is being implemented on, there's a chance that either the percentage isn't high enough (so some people will never be auto-muted, even when they deserve it) or that the percentage will be too high (some unlucky players that play fair will suffer from auto-mute, as a result). A solid percentage will not be able to tell the entire story, after all.
  25. Actually, continuous harassment that has no purpose other than to annoy or verbally assault a person generally breaks harassment laws (from what I gather, the law varies from state to state). The case that you're exemplifying is aggravated harassment, which is pretty serious (possibly a felony, even), but it doesn't need to be that serious to be against the law. Free speech only applies when there is a purpose other than assaulting another person. When you're only harassing someone for the sake of harassing the person, it actually is illegal. The problem is that it's not a serious enough offense for the police to investigate every single case (especially on gaming and the internet, where it's incredibly rampant AND anonymous), unless it's aggravated harassment. I'd imagine the police have more important matters to deal with than one person ruining the online experience of another, unfortunately. I don't think the EC crew would mind; it was their idea, really. Making a new thread might not be a bad idea, though - go for it.
