The changes you made are certainly an improvement (especially since you dropped out that pulsing bass for a little while then gave it a triumphant return - it works better that way ). As for the 'right' direction, that's entirely up to you - I personally like the eastern sound you've added, but if you feel that it's starting to sway towards the source a bit too closely that's understandable, too. As long as the rest of the song can make up for the source similarity with some impressive arranging later I think it'll work just fine .

Cripes, today was the deadline!? I didn't know it had one - sorry about that! I'll try to get something going with her tomorrow or something (in other words - ASAP ). -
Yeah, and besides - this is the remix request forum, not community, anymore. Keep the C&D drama out of here, please; that's not what this is for. Darkesword Locked the other thread for a reason - read it and learn.
-
True - although perhaps you should, just in case people don't get their music done on time. It'll give you some room for error .

I think that would make a great ska remix, lol. I love this song, personally - it's one of those gems that really set FFVI apart from the rest of the series .

http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?p=556573#post556573 Nope, basically the same (although I never discourage it - I've just learned never to get my hopes up ).

As mentioned earlier, my brother did it, so yeah, siting experience . He had to reinstall Windows on his computer in order to fix THAT mess (I mean, I don't think the USB ports even worked after he did that, lol).

I wish you the best on this, but I'm afraid everyone here's probably right on the C&D... I hope it doesn't happen, but hoping won't do anyone any good. If it's worth the risk do what you want - just don't be surprised if it gets C&D'd.

Yes it's possible... you lose all of your accessory programs (sound records, mixer volumes, notepad to name a few). It still runs, but not very well.

Charting Worlds and Taking Names WIP [Mass Effect]
Gario replied to Dope Thunder's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I think I agree with Adamantium Dude on the airy sound effect... I actually am having a hard time finding something to 'critique' on it, as I've now had it on loop for the past 3 hours and can't make myself stop listening to it. The ending it a bit weak, sadly (A hat is hit and everything stops... wha?! ), but otherwise I'd say this is perfect. I like it a lot - just make it end better . -

I'll look into it - Thanks, JadeAuto! -
lol... LOL! My brother did this a little while ago in order to get rid of a virus (not because Nekofrog told him to, sadly - all on his own)... I'd say it was a rather epic fail, on his part. I still torment him about that little mistake .

Don't worry, Garian - she got in touch with me a few days ago. I'll send an e-mail to try to arrange times today (although if you can get in touch by way of steam, that wouldn't be bad - I don't have steam, so it's not an option for me ). -
The sample change with the hats was excellent, and the bass drums are not nearly as harsh as they were before - Nice touch . I'd be careful when you double the bass at some parts, though - it tends to clip the sound a bit, then. Put in some velocity work with the drumline and I think the drums could work fine. The piano sample doesn't seem to fit well with the other instruments in this song. I'd replace that sample as soon as you can (the same goes for the guitar, but you knew that already ). I like the harmony work with the choir - I see we've been working on chords and such . Careful when mixing levels - some instruments seem to shoot out of a quieter texture, which is jarring. Make the levels more homogeneous and you'll also be able to raise the volume of the song without clipping, so try to balance the levels out. It's getting better, that's for sure - you could make it better still, though. Best of luck!

Aw, AnSo; don't steal poor Brad's spotlight - we already love you for your 14 page musicology paper (and we'll love you even more when it's translated, or when we learn Swedish ). -
'Gone in 60 Seconds' was filmed in my hometown - the bridge scenes are especially memorable, for me (I've crossed that bridge many times, as a child).

Wow, this project will be epic. I may work on something for it, but I'm actually pretty busy up until August, sadly, so I won't claim anything, right now (I'll just WIP something up and see if it's acceptable, if I can ).
-
Wow, you actually increased the OC population with your post. I'm not sure many people have those bragging rights . Before commenting, I'd like to add you don't have a source up. While I've played Mario 64 and I sort of know the source, I can't comment on the source usage without a ...It's got a healthy amount of source, yet the style is quite different. I like how you use the source in this song, personally. It's a little on the conservative side, but you can make more variations later in the song (when you finish it ). Not finished, I understand - I find the instrument choice to be a bit lacking, though. The samples seem a bit low quality (the melody just sounds like a saw with a bit of sine in it, and the bass/choir/thing sound just like a weak saw combination, itself ). I will add that they mesh well, though - it's just that with different, better samples they could probably mesh better. Yes, the marching bassline does get a bit annoying - dropping it out here and there would help make it sound fresh when it IS there. I don't find the song too boring, though. For the pace being as slow as it is, it seems to keep me interested throughout (so far).

Yup, I've got a challenge up - I really hope someone gets it, as it's a un-remixed classic (I hate it when good music goes unnoticed in the remixing community...). Phase 3's gonna be awesome . Question, though - Are we going to know who sent the challenges, or are the challenges going to be from 'anonymous'? It would be interesting if we knew who we were remixing for . EDIT: Nevermind - I see we will .

Wise advice - that's often what I do (unless I want a song that creates metric tension by offsetting a downbeat - performers hate that ). -
OCR00878 - Mega Man 3 "Mega Man 2003"
Gario replied to DarkCecil13's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I personally like the overused synths in this song - it gives this particular remix that grungy feeling that I love. I've always liked the static feel that it has throughout, as well. Pretty much a classic; I hope no one passes this one up because it's old... it's old school, so go out and download it . -
Have a great... umm... whatever birthday your on, now . Ah well, hope you enjoy being a year older today than yesterday!

It's a shame that I'm not really involved with this generation of games - I would've loved to hear it (of course, if the soundtrack for it becomes available elsewhere I'll be looking ). What XBLA game is it? I love using meters in the most screwed up fashion (or just 'conventional' mixed meter, if I'm lazy) - my music for the 'Holonic' project is all in mixed meters (the one that's up now is in 7/4, and the battle music is going to be meter-crazy ). I should put up some of my college music - the metric stuff I did was crazy sometimes (and other times the meter just didn't exist...).
