Complete Composers Collection
Nabeel Ansari replied to mickomoo's topic in Music Composition & Production
I've heard MoR2 product demos, and the guitars STILL sound like Gameboy. >_> (If anyone has ever seen my comparisons from fake guitars to Megaman Zero, it's because I love the Zero series and fake guitars constantly remind me of that series' OST's. -
League of Legends: I finally updated the player list in the OP!
Nabeel Ansari replied to Garian's topic in General Discussion
You know tribunal cases are judged by players, right? It's not developer enforcing rules that they didn't code in. It's players going "hey, you're being a dick". What's wrong with having a separate game mode for people who are serious about upping their skill? Do you know how annoying it is when someone messes around because "hey, it's just a game"? You can say "hey, it's just a game" for anything. Like Football. If you really want to experiment and not make anyone mad, you shouldn't be doing randomized PvP in the first place. Make some friends on LoL and ask them to be on your team because you wanna try something new. Or play a bot game and see how far your experiment can take you when you're fed. Fixed. I don't think you realize how big competitive gaming is. -

Gypsy has a very nice guitar. Not as bad as MoR guitars, which sound bad in the FREAKIN PRODUCT DEMO SONGS. -
League of Legends: I finally updated the player list in the OP!
Nabeel Ansari replied to Garian's topic in General Discussion
I'm sure if he used them effectively, people wouldn't have reported him for it. They didn't suspend for unusual builds, they suspended for pissing off his team. It states right at the end they have no problem with experimenting, but you should only do it with consent of your team. That's fair, imo. Nothing's more annoying than a guy who's fooling around and dragging the team down. -

Shouldn't you be playing Normal matches if you want to experiment? I don't understand why you would do it in Ranked. It's... well, ranked. -
Complete Composers Collection

You can buy Studio Drummer/Steven Slate drums and the Shreddage Collection for ~$200, a far better and more incredibly useful deal than Ministry of Rock. I recommend again not to waste a Composer's Collection slot on it. Besides, Storm Drum 2 has the Black Kit, a great sounding acoustic drum kit. -
Complete Composers Collection
Nabeel Ansari replied to mickomoo's topic in Music Composition & Production
You need to read a bit deeper, dude. Composer's Collection is still regular, full price. The 67% off you're reading is off each individual item. It's ALWAYS 67% off, that's the point of the bundle. Don't get Voices of Passion, Goliath, or Ministry of Rock. Voices of Passion is a niche vocal library, Ministry of Rock guitars suck, and (and why get a smorgasbord within a giant smorgasbord bundle? That's redundant.). Goliath has a lot of orchestral, ethnic, and band/synth sounds. You're going to use Symphonic Orchestra for the orchestral and Ra/Other stuff for the ethnic. If you want to avoid redundancy, don't go Goliath. Here's what I would do for least redundancy and most ground covered, as far as cinematics: Symphonic Orchestra Gold Pianos Gold Symphonic Choirs Bundle Storm Drum 2 Bundle Ra Silk Gypsy This doesn't have band instruments, so you could swap out Pianos for Fab Four/Ministry of Rock if you really wanted. Or you can just blow $1800 and get their whole collection, since they allow you to make it more than 7 instruments now. -

Looking for a certain MIDI
Nabeel Ansari replied to jordanrooben's topic in Music Composition & Production
Why are you talking about instrument performance ethics in a thread about a Metroid Prime MIDI? Transcribing songs isn't really as hard as your making it out to be. Of course it is for verbatim transcriptions, but you won't ever get those unless they're from the composers themselves. Recorded music makes us hear notes that weren't even written because of frequency clashes and accumulations. My point is, "make your own" isn't exactly the best advice if you want a verbatim transcription, but "you can't make your own unless your an advanced music theory enthusiast" is bull. If you ever want to improve, being a good musician requires time/will/patience. I'm not arguing in favor of not helping this guy when he wants a MIDI, but there's no issue with what Snappleman is saying. He is giving sound (though blunt) advice. -
So that's where EVERY FINAL FANTASY VII SONG came from...

You heard an organ, some drums, and a fast tempo, then cried FFVII? :/ -
Need a sample, synth, or effect? LOOK HERE!
Nabeel Ansari replied to zircon's topic in Music Composition & Production
And as I said before, if it can't be saved up in a couple weeks, I would be looking at my financial situation and decide not to buy samples. There are free options that would do a better job than $60 Goldbaby samples for acoustic work, I would use those until I'm sure that an extra $25 for Studio Drummer isn't something I consider an extraneous amount to save. Going for cheaper, not as good samples because of lack of small patience to save up a small amount of money is not exactly the economically smartest thing to do. The point I'm trying to make here is "don't have the extra $25" is a pretty bs reason to cash in early for samples you CAN afford (but might not be happy with). Especially when the libraries you (Cash and Change) recommended are drum machine sounds. Which is the exact opposite of what you want for rock music. -

Bad excuse to go Goldbaby over Studio Drummer. If you are incapable of making an extra $25 in at most a month, I don't think drum samples should be at the top of your "to buy" list. I would put maybe "food" and "rent" first. -
Microphone suggestions for vocal beginner?
Nabeel Ansari replied to Star-Strewn's topic in Music Composition & Production
Guitar Hero mic. I kid you not, those things are sick. -
Gol's kind of an idiot in general. A developer shouldn't respond to legit program criticism with "it's supposed to be that way, deal with it".
-
FL 10.5 Beta came. (Which is like FL11 coming early, which is like christmas coming early, so yeah). Image-Line is consistently making the zoom settings worse. The actual functionality of the piano roll still trumps, though, so don't get too excited.
-
I can't believe people are STILL complaining about this after a few years since FL9 came out. Go to Options > General Settings > Enable Legacy Pattern Blocks. Bejeezus. >_> (yeah they're still there)
-
Yeah that was a really bad mistake on my part. However, they did change the zoom piano roll shortcuts. Instead of pressing "2" for example for small, decent sized sixteenths, you have to press "Shift+2". So their piano roll is slowly degrading. X_X
-
7's a crutch. 1 has the best control over your sound.
-
Finally, a legitimate program for making music. No more of this FL Studio 10 bullcrap.
