  1. Would I be sued for including a trumpet in my soundtrack? Trumpets are pretty popular... Being snappy aside, it's all in the Terms and Conditions when you install the software. Normally I never read that stuff, but for music stuff, I actually do to find out answers to questions like where am I allowed to use this sound? If they give me complete control to just do my own thing commercially then I would say any "homage presets" like the one you found were properly cleared.
  2. If you're considering going for Ultimate, then do it. It has so much more in the way of cinematic. (Which Komplete 8 has ZERO of) Regular don't have Session Strings Pro, Evolve Mutations, or Evolve Mutations 2, and I think it's worth it for those alone. (worth the $200 difference in this case, I mean) Still, I am disappointed Komplete has absolutely ZERO cinematic sounds except for the stock Vienna Kontakt orch. stuff. As for if anyone has used Session Strings Pro, I have not, but zircon has Ultimate. You could ask him.
  3. If you're not gonna read the many times I make it obvious I'm not talking about AngelCityOutlaw, I'm just going to ignore you. EDIT: The argument seems more compelling with the help of some explanation and example, so my opinion on the matter has been changed.
  4. If it's a personal project with some classmates doing their own thing, sure. It's a different story if you're hired. You have a contract and actual pressure. I'm not saying Angel can't do it, but if you're someone who can't, you shouldn't say YES, imo.
  5. Do you realize how hypocritical this kind of statement is? He calls someone's hard work "techno filth" and then he expects not to be insulted back? What kind of world are you living in where it's acceptable to say someone's personal creation is filth but not to call him an idiot? You don't have to target a person directly to insult him. The guy was a douchebag and he insulted the people who worked to put that album together. Insulting one guy versus insulting tens. Decide which is worse. The internet doesn't work in a way where you can pay $50 to get out of being called out on your douchebaggery.
  6. BGC, I am concerned for OCR's appearance in the legal system. Whether you're handling the surplus well in a harmless not-for-profit way or not, Square Enix isn't gonna care when all they see is you guys generating oodles of funding for something that has Final Fantasy all over it. However, if you guys have tons and tons of prize ideas lined up for this, it seems you have it under control. Perhaps if you stated that out in the open you guys wouldn't have had so much negative feedback. It's not really legal to take donations for one thing and then use it for something else.
  7. Give away Komplete Ultimate bundles as prizes for our Mega Man remix competitions?
  8. My concern is OCR's underestimation of their backing. I think it was poorly done and they're going to have a lot of trouble figuring what to do with the 200-300% excess without passing it off as profit. Should've set a funding ceiling limit for the Kickstarter. If Kickstarter doesn't let you do that, I would say this isn't really something that should go on Kickstarter.
  9. What's counter productive is complaining about the high cost of a physical album, even when it is clearly labeled as "DONATION". No one needs a physical and they're not entitled to it. We're not talking about buying goods here. You're donating and receiving a reward. What's counter productive is complaining about the quality control to a guy who already ran a successful 4-disc Final Fantasy project.
  10. For the first time I'm gonna have to side with Dan instead of Andy here.
  11. Why does Veigar use mana? His moves are the following: -Magical Q Blast -Magical Dark Matter Meteor Strike -Magical Stun Field -Gigantic Magical Blast that deals damage based on both the attacking and receiving champion's AP. Come on Riot.
  12. I guess my response would be different because I really have no penalty for saying no. (still in high school, don't need to be making loads of money quite yet)
  13. This was really fun last year, and I ended up getting a $200 Guitar VST for free. Last year everyone got a prize. Not sure if it's that way this year, but it's a good chance to go and see what new stuff audio companies are showing off. Registration is free, so transportation is your only cost. It's a fun place to be for that Saturday and maybe if enough people go we can find each other and hang out or something. http://www.imsta.org/imsta_festa_2012.php
  14. Meteo's not just being a jerk here. My dream is to be a VGM composer. However, If I got an email from Ubisoft wanting me to do music for Assassin's Creed IV or something, I would say hell no. I know still little to nothing about scoring for games. I have no experience with it outside of my own little game I wrote in Java and writing music for it. I would rather not take the job at all than soil it with my lackluster scoring abilities. I would rather study more and get into it knowing what I'm doing.
  15. Native Instruments upgrades, crossgrades, and updates all 50% off. http://www.native-instruments.com/specials/summer-of-sound/ If you own Kontakt or something and want to transfer to Komplete, you can go to regular for $200 or Ultimate for $400. Considering I and many others got Kontakt for $200 (I got 4, 2 years ago for black friday), you're looking at $400 for Komplete in total. That's $100 less through these sales.
  16. FL doesn't have a dedicated freeze option. What Kanthos is telling you to do is export whatever the instruments are playing as wav files. (Solo the tracks and render the song) Import the wav file, then remove the instruments from Kontakt itself.
  17. A misconception people have is that OCReMix is a big collective consciousness. As if asking a question to OCR will have an answer representative of the community. It's not like that at all. We're all different people doing our own thing. It's likely if there's a guy here who would remix those tunes in that genre and has nothing else he needs to do, he hasn't read your requests. He might not even read the requests forum. You might be better off picking artists you like on OCR and asking them nicely to do it via private message.
  18. I'm talking about Modus's suggestion for solid "star" criteria.
  19. You can be posted and not have the slightest clue how to mix stuff. >_>
  20. I don't understand where this idea that if you're posted you're an expert came from.
  21. Possibly the most valuable investment you'll make in your musical career, yes. No other program has quite the benefits except for your DAW itself. Kontakt is the gateway to a lot of nice libraries.
  22. JuiceDefender! Though not sure if the functionality is as useful on a tablet.
  23. Did I say full-time? That wasn't the intention. For example, I would consider zircon a professional, but composing isn't his only income. (sample libraries, licensing, teaching, etc.) In most cases I think of a distinction between professional and semi-professional (the former being the sole income source) but in this specific definition it's just professional or not. Besides, I don't think the term "full-time" really applies to freelance composing projects. They're kinda more "my time" than "full-time".
