  1. I know what ya mean. I did a remix that's 6:52 long, and even knocking the bitrate down to 192 its still just under 10mb. So i'm in the same boat about getting it under the right size limit...
  2. I went ahead and added the strings and mixed it down to 2 tracks. One with your mix plus my strings and the second with just the strings. I sent you a link via message to the file. Let me know what ya think!
  3. Not a problem, that's why this forum exists in the first place. I'm looking forward to your next update.
  4. I think the best part of this thread is how your quoting yourself! lol Anyways, i'm still working on the strings for you gerudo valley mix. After i finish that i can help you out with this one as well!
  5. I agree with Gario on this one. Its a nice take on the classic theme, but seems too bland for most of the song. I think maybe adding some strings or a fuller choir, or both, might help bring out this mix a lot more. After the first minute or so, bringing in a full drum set playing even the same beat would really be a nice addition to this followed by the same notes you have in your mix now played by a louder synth or something along lines. Either way, keep going, it'll take shape with a little more work.
  6. This is definitely different than most of your work. On one hand it makes me wanna hear the rest of the song, but on the other, its not very much right now besides a couple quiet synths a quick vocal add. Either way, i'm looking forward to an update including this piece.
  7. I've been a fan of this song since you posted in the original/WIP forum some time ago. It seems to be the same mix, but thats good. I thought this song was amazing to begin with. To be honset though, i really liked the vocals you added to the "verse" and the outro part. I'm not really sure why you took them out, but its your mix. I thought at first you cut the bass back a bit, but nope, its all there. It really helps add to the feel of this mix. If you submitted it only 5-6 days ago and haven't heard anything, don't worry. Sometimes it takes them a little while to catch up with all the subs in their inbox. I can't really see why they wouldn't want to accept this though.
  8. Everytime i think it gets close to being finished, either someone points something out or i realize that something its still off and needs to be tweaked. But this is why i signed up for this forum. I'm thinking about adding another instrument to fill out some of the void during the chorus, the part between :38-:58 and subsequent equal parts. I added some violins and panned slightly to fill in whats not there during those parts. Or i could try backing up the lead guitar with a synth, specifically the one from the verse, the part you pointed out sounded good in terms of stereo seperation. I also turned the choir parts all into octaves and it does clean up some of the extra notes the choir put out. I'm gonna try adding a synth or so to the chorus and see how it backs it up.
  9. I've got a few WIPs i could use some feedback on. The first song is called The Decider is a very dark and melodic song with some very orchestrated parts that lead into some heavy guitars riffs. The second song is called Unite and is just a straight forward rock song. Thank you.
  10. Alright, i did some tweaking on the track and came up with this: I took out the first part of the intro, the more soaring part and orchestrated part and kept the second part of the intro before the guitars come in. I tweaked the second part around a lot so its more orchestrated and well written. I added a kick roll for 2 measures before the guitars come in, and i really like the way it sounds. It helps build tension before the rock begins. I figure that with the orchestrated part after the solos is the same as the beginning, so its kinda like i moved it instead of just omitting it altogether anyways. I also mentioned before that i changed the break after the solos/orchestrated part from the piano to strings. I backed that up with some strings and an orchestra playing the chords the lead strings follow. Some other minor changes i made were to some of the volumes on the tracks, mostly the leads. I made them a little louder cause they kinda fell into the background at points.
  11. Yeah, i spent a lot of time tweaking EQs and volume levels for thie version. Which is probably what i should've done in the first place. And i'm glad you like the breakdown now. I'm thinking about cutting each of the 2 sections in the orchestrated intro in half, and that would shorten up the intro. I kinda thought it was too long anyways. Also, i replaced the piano part at 3:26 with some strings and i kinda like the way it sounds better. I'm also thinking about replacing the orchestrated part after the breakdown/guitar solos with either some keyboards solos or splitting it with keyboard solos and orchestras. I'll upload a newer version a little later on.
  12. Update: or http://rapidshare.com/files/240920393/NintenJoe_64_-_Dungeon_Of_Despair3__LOZ_NES_Dungeon_.mp3 . I noticed that high EQ problem once i listened to the song in my car. I ordered a new set of speakers for my pc cause i noticed that mixing the EQ levels can sometimes be a pain on my current speakers. If it sounds good in my car, then i know i'm good. I fixed all the general problems you pointed out. Mainly bringing the leads up front and everything else in the background where it should be. It does make a huge difference. I really like the chiptune part at 2:48-2:52 as well. I wanted something to build up to the final chorus and couldn't think of anything else. And thank you for for you WIP poster comment, i really appreciate it. I'm glad you like MOST of my work.
  13. Ya know, i never asked you who's doing rapping in this? I figure its you, but we all know whats happens when we assume!
  14. Damn, i almost forgot about this one! lol This version is definitely it. Everything sounds good as far as production and mixing. The arrangement chugs along very nicely. I can't really say much more about it other than that i'm glad you got around to finishing it up!!
  15. Yeah, i'm really hoping to hear a finished version of this remix.
  16. To be honest, i just use the vst's included within my recording program called Acoustica Mixcraft 4. While they might not be the most amazing vst out there, they get the job done and sound quite awesome when you mess around with all the settings for a while. That's why i was suggesting to add the strings for ya.
  17. Yeah, i'll message you my email address to send the song to and i'll mess around with it and let ya know what i come up with.
  18. Unfortunately, i have the same problem and it seems you like the live instruments rather than using vst's. Which is all well and good unless you can't find anyone that plays those instruments. But i like your undertaking of realism and liveliness for your recordings. If you don't have access to a an actual violin/cello and someone who can play them, you can always use vst and you'd be surprised how good it sounds in the song. I always vst's for violin's/cello's and i wouldn't mind adding them in there for ya.
  19. Ya know, this takes the source and turns into a more melodic listen, which i thoroughly enjoyed. Every note was perfect, as is with all your stuff. Also, this seems to be your particular style of remixing, not that there's anything wrong with that, and i'm not trying to change your mind. I think the only thing that could spice this up a little more is to add maybe a quiet violin or possibly cello to the "chorus" right before the guitar solo. I think that would really add some more luminescence to track. I like how the distorted guitars come in towards the end of the track. Again, maybe thinking about adding a lone cello either playing along or playing with the rhythm would really bring the song out more. As far as production goes, it sound pretty damn good already. No clips, hissing, or distortion anywhere to be found. I think if you are going add the cello, or any other such string or orchestra vst behind this mix, maybe keep it on the high end of the EQ. The arrangement is pretty decent and stays just far away from the source to be different. Otherwise, keep up the good work.
  20. When this first started playing, i was like,"hmmm, this sounds familiar..." but then you get the real feel for the march. If they actually made a Zelda movie, instead of just a trailer IGN helped push along, this orchestral remix should definitely be used in it!! I can't really think of anything that doesn't sound right or sticks out that might need to be tweaked. Its pretty damn good the way it is already.
  21. Mediafire is giving me problems, so try: http://rapidshare.com/files/239246346/NintenJoe_64_-_Dungeon_Of_Despair_LoZ.mp3 and I got files to upload to tindeck again and the link to that is:
  22. Ya know, for some reason i though files with the same file name wouldn't cause problems when i uploaded them.... I'm not really sure what i was thinking. I uploaded to rapidshare anyways: http://rapidshare.com/files/239245181/NintenJoe_64_-_3rd_Strike_MMBN3.mp3 I finally got my remixes to upload to tindeck, so hopefully i can use that from now on.
  23. Update: http://www.mediafire.com/?oen44onunzz And if it still isn't working, try: http://rapidshare.com/files/239247575/NintenJoe_64_-_Final_Breath_FF4.mp3 Try that one instead. Yeah, i thought i fixed that problem. The MM3 mix had the file set to private for some reason, but this one wasn't. It says people have been downlaoding it, but i've reuploaded it so it should be ok now, hopefully.
  24. I'm not sure how i clicked the password link, but try it now.
  25. Update: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2myiqxxhyym I've had a lot of time to catch up on my music. This is my most current remix, the others i've had recorded for some time. Just needed some more time to get the levels and production where it needs to be. I took -RK-'s advice and tried to move some of the tracks and instruments across the studio space. Most notably are the leads, if there's more than 1 at a time they are panned to one side or the other the help balance things out a little more.
