  2. Email sub file force-submission.mp3 CONTACT INFO: ReMixer name: Rexy Real name: Bev Wooff Email: bev.wooff@gmail.com OCRemix user ID: 7528 REMIX INFO: Remix title: "Where Force Stood Still" Game covered: Chrono Cross Individual song covered: Frozen Flame Song link: (If the link doesn't work I've also put the file forward as an email attachment) --- Hi again. As fate came by I managed to put together another submission. First of all, I want to tell you about a little competition at RPGamer.com that was referenced to as "Sonic Revolution", where contestants were expected to perform songs from RPGs in order to win either Electronics Boutique vouchers or a copy of The Black Mages II (with zircon being the overall winner with "Shadows Among the Ruins"). I was one of the three judges that cooperated in looking into the mixes, and I can say it was all good clean fun. So within the contest's aftermath I wanted to repay the favor by submitting something to that site myself – a project that was in the works within the two months prior to release. Being a lazy bitch I'll just transfer the RPGamer description here. 'What I've done is a piano arrangement of "Frozen Flame"; it was originally meant to be a Radical Dreamers mix given the inclusion of "Dreams of the Shore Near Another World", but I feel it'll work better if aimed for the masses. This was performed in F Minor - one of my favorite scales when it comes to playing music - and the structures throughout its five minute duration are filled to the brim with a wide variety of emotions.' Obviously this is a higher quality version in comparison to the RPGamer submission, for reasons on wanting to reflect on the purity of the piano itself. Again I found this mix to be a blast to play through – tricky in parts but still very worthwhile. I hope you enjoy what I've layered down, aye. Peace out, -Rexy-
  3. I think this is an excellent, excellent point that totally deflates most arguments/criticisms of the pronunciation. In almost every other J-Pop/anime closer and many video game pieces with vocals you hear attempts at English e.g. "Pick me up foxy night game" or "Never farring down" that - while still musical - don't exactly cut the elocution mustard. Those whining - and forgive me, because it comes off that way in most cases - about pronunciation here and elsewhere (Tom Cruise in Last Samurai, Uma in KB) seem to me to simply be flaunting their knowledge, however extensive or otherwise, of the language. However, the Japanese themselves clearly have no problem including poorly pronounced English in a good percentage of their own music, much of which the SAME people enjoy without a single bitch or moan. Hypocrisy? Methinks yes. Furthermore, music has never been the place for exemplary pronunciation, even in singers' native languages, as words are often stretched to their syllabic limits in the interest of fulfilling a triplet or completing a musical phrase. And singing in a language other than one's own dates at least as far back as Mozart's time, where Italian and German were the only commonly accepted languages for operatic work. So get over yourselves and, if you wish to illustrate your keen knowledge of Japanese as learned in high school, college, or even via the more credible path of extended immersion, do so critiquing news broadcasts or Japanese-English translations, where such analysis makes more sense. At any rate, I don't seek linguistic perfection in music. I seek musicality.
  4. Email sub file Darangen - Warriors of Light.mp3 ReMixer name: Darangen Real Name: Michael Boyd email: darangen@hotmail.com website: www.geocities.com/darangenmb Name of game: Final Fantasy 1 Name of song remixed: Chaos Temple Link to original song: http://www.ocremix.org/songs/original/Final%20Fantasy%20(1987)(Nobuo%20Uematsu%20-%20Square)(23%20Songs).nsf (track 12/23) Info: This was my submission to RPGamers' Sonic Revolution contest in February. Nostalgia... This was always one of my favorite vg themes ever, and still is to this day. I can remember when my friend down the street brought Final Fantasy 1 over, we all thought it was the neatest thing to have 4 black mages with confuse and watch the enemies hit themselves (well, the few times that confuse would work). A few weeks later, my brother and I begged our parents enough to buy the game for ourselves. We finally got it, and I've loved the music ever since, the whole Final Fantasy 1 soundtrack is amazing. Ok, enough rambling and onto something about this release This is my take on the Chaos Temple theme (which also plays in the Underwater Shrine) and my entry to RPGamers Sonic Revolution contest. I've given it a brighter feel than the original, changed the chord progression to give it a major key feel. So kick of them shoes, relax those feet, and enjoy!
  5. Hey. My remixer name is DJ Danceatron. My e-mail is danceatron@hotmail.com This is a remix from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, The Ice cap Zone Stage. About my mix: This is a straight-up clean Dance mix of the Ice Cap Zone stage. I Titled it 'Cold Fusion' because I used only insturments and FX that sound "cold." I tried to make this mix wth the same feel of the stage in the game, cool, yet dangerous. I look foreward to submitting more in the future, I hope you like this mix as much as I do.. -DJ Danceatron
  6. Secret of Mana - A Heart Unbroken Link to the song: Remixer Name: LordMaestro Real Name: Ross Kmet E-Mail Adress: heydude6383@hotmail.com Name of Game Remixed: Secret of Mana Name of Song Remixed: Give Love it's Rightful Time Original Composer: Hiroki Kikuta Comments This song was originally made for the Valentine Remix Project over at www.eonbluepatient.com. I've given it a little extra polish from that release, and decided to submit it. I really like the turn out. I was going for a jazzy yet dynamic (because love is dynamic, is it not?) mix. I recently discovered that I mostly right all uplifting music, which is probably why I like Secret of Mana music so much. I used FL Studio, SuperWave P8, and 3xOsc as any notable equiptment used. Anyways, thanks. LordM
  7. Hi this is Sammo, a/k/a Sam Gabay. This is my second attempt at a submission. I hope this one will be more suitable. The song I have remixed is the music from tetris. I call my remix "Tour of Russia" because it encompasses several styles of music , including an interlude with a "Russian folk-song" feel. I hope you like it! Regards, Sammo
  8. Hey there, This is my first submission to OCRemix.org. I had a lot of fun with this piece so I figure I'd go for the gold In any case my info: Remixer Name: PsiTron Real Name: Tim Soderstrom E-Mail: tigerhawk@stic.net Website: http://www.moocowproductions.org Forum #: Well, I'm having trouble getting on the forums? I think I tried before but I never got a confirmation e-mail. My name on the forum is 'psitron' and my e-mail address should be the same as it is above (tigerhawk@stic.net). Name of Game: Metroid Individual Song: Kraid's Theme Remix Song Name: Kraid's Dream Comments: I started working on this thing just messing around one day. I was sort of dry on inspiration but I wanted to practice my skills nonetheless. Well, I laid down the very basics in a day and came back to it a few days later and really started doing the cool stuff. I guess the part that got me real excited was when I put in the Oboe. It added a real nice touch. After that I messed around in the breakbeats and though they could have been a bit better, perhaps, I think they add a nice touch. This isn't my first video game remix, but it is the first one I have submitted to OCRemix. I love the site and there is some excellent work, but I always thought there wasn't enough remixes of Kraid's Theme. So here you go! I tried to put in all the tag information that I could. Let me know if I missed something. Cheers, Tim S.
  9. I know it's "Wonka," not "Wanka." This is a Ghouls and Ghosts remix. Compy Fox mastered it for me so it fills up a bit more of the stereo field and is comparable in volume to most OC ReMixes, he compressed my drums before I did the postproduction but the arrangement itself is not a collaboration; I arranged the piece and Compy engineered it. So, many thanks to him. http://www.studio-compyfox.de/guestartist/shael_riley/Ghosts'N_Goblins_Wanka_Factory_OC_ReMix.txt And just in case, juuust just in case someone doesn't like Compy's master but would pass the song otherwise, I have my own master here. It's a little bit less compressed towards the middle frequencies. I still used Compy's compression settings, but this is the stereo output WAV before I sent it to him: -Shael

  12. Prog rockish, no? Neat. The song: (Could it be possible that I know when the song has been downloaded ? I only have 10mb of space and since I use it regularly, this will be taking much space. If not, no problem.) CPacaud, ktriton, MAG Christian Pacaud, Kunal Majmudar, Marc-André Gingras cpacaud@saint-studios.com http://www.soundclick.com/christianpacaud ; http://www.ktriton.com ; http://www.magproject.com Secret of Mana The Boy Aims for Wild Fields, The Holy Intruder, Danger, Steel and Traps, Meridian Dance (I'm pasting the comments from the VGMix page, I'm lazy:) CPacaud: After two months of intense work, sweat and tears, we humbly bring you this (freaking long) Secret of Mana medley, symphonic prog-rock style. Limbs were lost, blisters had (on the remaining limbs/fingers), strings broken, minds shattered, what have you... Anyway, seriously, this mix is comprised of five separate parts, each with their own different ambience, based on different songs / combination of songs from the soundtrack, with quite a lot of original material interspersed throughout the piece. Every instrument has an opportunity to shine through at some point. You get the solos, you get the synths, you get the length, even the name is "prog" ! OMG !!!11!! (The original title for the song was to be Journey Into Gaia's Navel On The Day The World Changed - Part I, but that seemed kinda long.) ktriton: Christian had posted a very early WIP of this on the OneUp Studios forum almost two months ago. When I heard it, I immediately contacted him with the hope that I could at the very least donate a few ideas to this clever and utterly kick-ass starting point. I wanted to hear a quality progressive rock remix that I could enjoy not only for nostalgia value, but on its own, as a great song. Well, Christian and I plotted and we planned. I donated ideas and Christian humoured me for the first few swaps by implementing them. Soon, however, we realized that we had this great synergy going for us and before we knew it, a seven-minute medley was produced. I really hope you guys all enjoy this (and hopefully you won’t be able to tell which parts are mine and which parts are Christian’s) ! Christian Pacaud : Guitars, Bass, Programming (Drums & Synths) Kunal Majmudar : Synths Very special thanks to (we bow to your greatness, seriously !): Marc-André Gingras : Guitars (solo at 4:34)
  13. Yea - a lot of time has passed and i've gone through some self-improvement and the judges panel seems to have shifted so i figured i might have a shot. Remixer Name - k-wix Real Name - Dustin M. Kulwicki Email - k-wix@buckeye-express.com Website - http://k-wix.no-ip.com Remixed Game - Megaman 2 Game Song - Bubble Man's Theme Remix Title - Spiked Ceiling Bubble Bop Comments - Lots of Synth experimentation, I love all things megaman and always wanted to do a mix of the song. Honestly severly doubting it will make it, but willing enough at this point to put issues aside and give it a try due to the newer judges. _Links to Song_
  14. Name: rumplescout Real Name: Jason Robertson mail: jay_rumple@yahoo.com site: http://rumplescout.tripod.com game: Blaster Master song: level 7 (same as final boss, too) and level 5 Remix: "Fire, Water, Metal" Thank you for listening. I am new to this, and didn't stray from the source material really, but I played all the instruments (drums, bass, guitar) and tried to do a metal version of the music from level 7. Ever since the first time I made it to level seven, and eventually the final boss, I thought this song had a speed metal vibe. The underpinnings were there already, and I certainly didn't add any kind of shredding (which would probably be more interesting). It's esentially the same song with distorted guitar. I felt there needed to be a break of some sort, so the dreamy level 5 (water level) music filled that gap. It is a little bit happier than the rest, but noisy nonetheless. I am learning how to polish my BR-8 (WAV) files as best I can before transferring them to MP3, and it's proving to be sort of trial-and-error as far as sound quality and finding the right levels. Any criticizim and comments will be appreciated. Thanks again. ===== __________________________________
  15. Yo, Mr. P and Judge Bunch. Navid here, figuring that it's been a long time since I last submitted some stuff, so hopefully you've forgotten who I am by now. If not, then I apopologize. Anyways, I got a brand new submission to send you, somewhat lukewarm from the grill. This is an improved version of the VGmix release, so if you heard it there, it's been improved. This is my quirky, abstract take on "Leblanc's Got It All" from the FFX-2 soundtrack, which Larry will probably kindly provide for your listening entertainment. It is called "Chauffage Au Gaz". Desoli les amis, mais en raison de contrainte de temps, et par manque d'efforts de notre part, Leblanc, ne pourra se produire ce soir. Ne craignez rien cepandant, a la place, nous vous prisentons le Chauffage au Gaz! It is somewhat short, but I didn't want to extend it and make it booooring. Also, because I took some liberties with the original, here is a step by step breakdown of the track in order to help you guys with your judging. 0:00 - 0:21 - Intro/Build up - No mixing involved, save for chord "progression" 0:21 - 0:33 - Over the buildup, I mess around a bit with the prelude melody. This occurs again later in the song as well. I LIEK PRELUDE. 0:34 - 1:00 - Various synths play variations on Section A (0:00-0:19) of "Leblanc's Got It All". The remix works primarily with this section of the song. 1:01 - 1:31 - During the course of this time slot, the synths take on Section B (0:23-0:33) of "Leblanc's Got It All". The melody is skewed slightly, but still recognizable. During 4th measure blitz, we also have recurrance of the 4th measure of the previous section (the pitch bent synth)in order to SOUND COOL, as well as the PRELUDE again. WA~CKY! 1:32 - 1:43 - Refer to Section A again. 1:44 - 1:59 - Section A Dcon5tructed. 2:00 - 2:13 - KEEEY CHANGE. Back to Section B now, with the introduction of a couple of snippets of familiar melodies in the 4th measure crunch. (Larry I DID IT ALL 4 U baby - Call me!) 2:14 - 2:29 - Back down to the old key, and back to taking on Section B again. This time however, when the Snippet of Section A comes in at the end, IT DOESNT GO AWAY. Instead, it goes CRAY-UZY! 2:30 - 2:46 - Fray described it best when he said it is "...where the music sounds like a machine crapping out and finally giving off a little mechanical ding reminiscent of an elevator telling you that it's reached the desired floor." I couldn't say it better myself. 2:47 - 3:16 - Exunt, stage left. As we draw to a close, the mix takes us back to Section A, reminding us of the good...old...days? 3:17 - Jean Reno gives the mix a touching and heartfelt feeling of completion with his rousing and tearjerking speech. In conclusion, this is a liberal remix, but it is a remix. It is not a midi rip, nor is it an original work claiming to be a remixie. I hope it meets the OCR standard of quality, and if it doesn't, I'll go into submission hibre...hibri....heirb...sleep until 2006, upon whenst I will release a new track for submission. Oshit, I almost forgot the link. ===== www.mythrilnazgul.com
