  1. Mixer name: DJBren Real name: Brendan Bennett Original material: "Metaknight" and "Halfmoon" Remix title: "Metarush" comment on the mix: I always thought that the battle against Metaknight was one of the most epic battles in Popstar, so this is a fast paced, high energy mix, designed to capture the suspense of the battle. I hope you all enjoy it.
  2. Email sub file Rap-Ruinz.mp3 My remix name: 1st in Lyne (Collaborator-Trance-Canada) Page (not my actual site) http://ghettoflame.deviantart.com/ This doesn't have the song. It's an attachment instead,my viewers. Real name: Cedric Peery (Email:flowjinx@yahoo.com) Game remixed: Super Mario Land (system-Original Gameboy original song-Ruins) Basically, this song has uniqueness and good timing, andI always liked the music from the Ruins levels of this original game. What inspired me was the fact that I like this game, and the music was pretty sweet on certain levels. Figured that if I turn it into hiphop,it'll be dope, you know. I have certain sounds like cymbals, and other sounds of different tones. In fact,I'll send the midi for you to compare to the original, and the difference is going to be very clear, viewers. At first,it was just a beat on a midi, but I know better than that...so after a few months of neglect,I had the structure in my head, putting it together, but I needed the collaboration to put another persons' touch, so I chose Trance-Canada,another OC remixer, ignorant of his skill and creativity, since he did one mix,but I chose him randomly, but still a wise choice, nevertheless. The structure, flow, and chords in the verses one and two needed changes, the sound was terrifically equalized compared to its former sound, the style of beats evolved, and of course,as I took drum practice,I made better beats. I started with a simple technoish beat, but according to my standards,it needed "hiphopism", so...that's exactly what I did, along with doubling of notes high, mid, and low to join another. Of course, everyone needs a surprise,so my sounds jump in, but yet,I had to tweak knobs and change notes and sounds for the right appeal to come into this song, spending not too much or too little time into this song,my viewers. The amount of months I took was 2 months, after the serious negligence and forgetting of this remix of capability.
  3. Email sub file Tales_Of_Phantasia_AtTheEndOfALongJourney_OC_ReMix.mp3 ReMixer Name: LunarHeartHeaven Real Name: Dan Johansen lunarheartheaven@yahoo.com Website: (in progress) Site ID: LunarHeart Game Name: Tales Of Phantasia / Tales Of Symphonia My Title: At The End Of A Long Journey Original Title: Good-Bye Friends / Revival System: SNES / Gamecube Composer: Motoi Sakuraba This is one of the ending tunes from Tales of Phantasia/Symphonia that I love the most, it contains memorable themes, its got alot of feel to it, more then in most games.. What I did here was to draw inspiration from Phantasias version when I made the intro, I added Double Delay piano to make it extra original and different,as the tune goes on I added violin sections to make the music progress more, changed the harp line to something more simple and feely.. as the part goes into the more extreme symphonic parts, I drew inspiration and kind of recreated Tales Of Symphonias symphony, but added extra themes with Orchestra Ensemble.. After the extreme part, I used the basic feeling of the originals, and added harp themes, added guitar theme in a kind of asian tone, it does not "track off" even though I mix a various of styles (not many) *laughs* Under the Harp a thin line of Violin Spicatto strengtens the sound and intencity.. After this majestic part its repeat from the intro with added Violin line and "slow down" Then I did the same kind of extreme upgrade as the first round, but I spontaniously added a full-string spicatto part that makes your head fly into a world of adventure, the added theme on the second round of spicatto may be abit recembled with Yasunori Matsudas music from Chrono Trigger, But it fits so well, it would be a shame to change it just for this reason... The sound on this ReMiX should be top notch, if not, I have no idea what it would have been, and I bet I would disagree *laughs* maybe the guitar part is abit too sharp for some ears, but it floats as it should to me.. Equipment: A secret for the time being But its mostly softwares, my head, my heart, my will and my Guitar *laughs* Well.. Enjoy!! I think people would love this remixed tune as I made it alot more epic and alot more filled then the original.. it normally gets pretty dull with all those 3 minute long tunes with 2 parts repeated a numberous of times, it doesnt keep the tunes alive that way, music needs interesting turns (of course fitting to the situations the music is made for).. PS: Im a musician on a daily basis, maybe this site need a intro tune that resembles THIS site, just an idea.. Im open to make it in that case if not you the judges do it themselves.. I think of a short piece of 10-30 seconds.. See ya
  4. metaphist (feat. Wy0StarFox guitar) Paul Ford peford@cfl.rr.com http://www.arcane-d.com Final Fantasy 6 Mt. Koltz theme "So You Want To Blitz?" When browsing the FF remixes on OCR one day, I was astounded to realize that there were no remixes of the Mt. Koltz theme, one of my favorites from FF6. Of course, Sabin learns his first "Blitz" technique on the mountain, hence the name. My original goal with this was to practice dnb style drum sequencing. DnB is probably my favorite genre of music, so it was fun for me, and pretty challenging as well. However, the remix quickly evolved into some sort of freak hybrid thingy with the addition of the guitar and the ambient section. Speaking of the guitar, originally I had FL Slayer there (which practically got me jumped in the forum back-alleys). Even though I said that it was just a test to see how a guitar might sound there . Anyway, when I finally decided to ask for a guitarist to replace Slayer, forum member Wy0StarFox stepped up to the plate and delivered.

Name Of Game(s) ReMixed: Donkey Kong Country 2 Name Of Individual Song(s) ReMixed: Mines Background Music ReMixers Comments: We'll time for my 2nd submission here at OCR. My 1st one was just a failure so forget about it. This one, I think, I have a chance of getting in(or at least getting a resubmit). I noticed there where no Mines remixes in "Protville" and the ones I found...I didnt like, so I had to make my oun version. We'll in most of my songs up to now people would say I make "randomn instrament choices." We'll I dont, I always try and mix real and fake instraments together. So I went all out with this song, part dance-y part orchestral. The song has done very well on Newgrounds Audio Portal & VGMix(On VGMix even getting on Akumajobelmonts toplist at #3, getting 500+ downloads in the 1st day and about 47 toplist points, on NG getting weekly 2nd and many good reviews)and Zircon told me he liked it and that I should submit it so here I am. I didnt change around the arrangement too much as it is perfect where it is, but dont set this off as a midi rip, its got alot to offer. The mix itself...wasnt to hard to make, I just kept testing out samples and I got the ones that fitted in(I'm no genious when it comes to music). The MIDI I used to make it was crap and pissed me off but I figured it out and got this done. P.S:If this really does make it onto OCR I will probably crap myself, so cheers

  9. Email sub file Donkey Kong Country 2 Brambles In My Pants OC ReMix.mp3 Remixer Name: Tepid Real Name: Philip Schwan E-mail: phswan@hotmail.com Website: www.soundclick.com/tepid (non remix related) Game Remixed: Donkey Kong Country 2 Song Remixed: Brambles Comments: Brambles + Rock = This song. After listening to Brambles for so long, I pondered about how it would sound with a screaming guitar lead in place of the synth lead. This is my first decent game remix; I'm a sophomore in high school and have only been recording for a year so, to me, this song is a breakthrough. The song is compiled of both midi and audio. I did the drums in audio on Fruity Loops 3, and the guitar lead and bass on Cakewalks. The rest of the parts were played in midi through my cheapass Casio keyboard: cyrstals, synth bass, slow strings. On my budget, this song is as polished as can be.
  10. Hey there Mr.David. 'Tis I, the SnappleMan, and I have yet another submission for you! My apologies for not being able to send you a pre-tagged version, but my webspace is not really dependable right now. Anyway, this is a collaboration between me and a fellow called Rubbler. I handled all the arranging, lead guitar, and drumming. He did the rhythm guitar and bass guitar. I intended my next submission to be OCR exclusive, but I'm quite proud of the great job we did on this one, and I wanna get it out there to people from OCR who haven't heard it. Thanks for your time snackfood guy. Andreas
  11. Hello folks at ocremix.org! I have worked hard on a remix that I hoped would make it onto your site. My Remixer Name: ghbarratt My Real Name: Glen H. Barratt My Website: www.ghbarratt.com My userid: ghbarratt Name of game ReMixed: Faxanadu Name of individual song ReMixed: Dartmoor Game has already been added to the site. Original soundtrack has already been added to the site. Comments: I have wanted to make a contribution to OC ReMix for a while. I have been listening to McVaffe and other's oc remix music for almost a year now. I have Faxanadu and have played it since a kid. I think it is a very interesting and mysterious game that is relatively unknown. There is only one song from this game on OC ReMix currently. The remix I am submitting is from the last area, it is meant to reflect some of the emotion one feels as they enter this part of the game. My wife helped me a little with the reproduction of the original tune. I used MadTracker 2 Pro to create it. The samples came from either my wife's Yamaha PSR 275 or a collection of samples on CD I purchased off eBay. I think I have created a very different piece of music here. I am sure you will enjoy it and I am certain it is good enough for OC ReMix's collection. But that is for you to decide. Any suggestions are welcome! I have seen others toss out the judges' advice simply because there remix made it in ... I will would like to do a final revision after getting the judges feedback before submitting a final version. Well, whatever happens, I think you are in for a different and comprehensive piece of music. I am excited to see if it makes it into your collection! Glen www.ghbarratt.com www.powersketchdesign.com
  12. Okay, we'll try something a bit smoother this time around. Remixer Name - k-wix Real Name - Dustin M. Kulwicki Email - k-wix@buckeye-express.com <mailto:k-wix@buckeye-express.com> Website - http://k-wix.no-ip.com Remixed Game - Chrono Trigger Game Song - Ayla's Theme Remix Title - Ayla's Rollo Cat Trance Attack Comments - Less experimentation, more standard trance. This is Ayla's theme and the theme is increadibly short (like.. 8 bars?) .. so because of that you'll notice a lot of original material is present, i did my best to theme it correctly with the original and give it a nice groovy feel. The lead throughout the 2nd half is almost entirely new and original, but the backing snyths are the classic theme. Since you guys weren't to keen on my bubbleman remix, i think this is a better choice... (infact in retrospect i *should* have submitted this first) its not quite as experimental. I think the lead synth is going to make-or-break me. I'm really curious to see what you have to say. My good friend Ubernym talked me into using a local community orchestra instead. For that I am extremely grateful. The orchestra took one look at it and agreed, and even let me do the conducting. The recording is live and in concert, which means mistakes, odd sounds, and jerks who cough and refuse to cover it up. Let me just say, though, that they did really well, despite all that. There were spots that I could not hear from my vantage point, but turned out perfect on the recording. My compliments to the person who did the recording, as well, because we were in a high school auditorium, but his equipment is set up to give an illusion of a professional concert hall. Anyways, enough rambling out of me. I hope you enjoy it.
  20. This is a remix of the Underground theme from Super Mario Bros with some influences of the Overworld theme. The underground theme is very short so I made a lot of own stuff in this one. I played the song a lot on my keyboard trying to extend it, and use the keys used in the song to really get something that fitted in. The samples used in this song is mostly from GPO and z3ta+ I also used the good ol' nes soundfont but i added a lot of effects to it trying to get it sound more professional. Game: Super Mario Bros Songs ReMixed: Underground and Overworld It's my first submission to OCR in a long time so here are my details. 21. I've got another OCR hopeful ready to go, and I like the way it turned out. Here's the link (you can leave it active in the Judges' Descision thread): |- Contact Info -| I'm already an existing ReMixer in the database: chthonic |- ReMix Info -| Name of game(s) ReMixed: Zelda 64 Name of individual song(s) ReMixed: Gerudo Valley |- My Comments -| (Taken from my VGMix write-up) This one's... different. Lots of stuff in here that screams "I'm trying new things! Look at me!" Anyway, the main theme I was trying to get across with this piece is the fact that the Gerudo people are all theives, not knowing any differently. This is their anthem. All of the sorrow, guilt, and weight of immorality is balanced with a sense of sisterhood and acceptance, which is what I tried to convey with the "happier" sections of the piece. Anyway, like I said, it's definitely a stretch from my norm (which isn't well defined to begin with). For one, it has a hip-hop feel to it, mostly due to the nature of the percussion, and that's not what I usually do. It also has LIVE acoustic guitar, played and improvised by me. There are some liberties taken with the chord structure, and I think I left out some of the motives from the original. I never actually went back to any form of OST for reference, because I know the source tune so well. At any rate, this is definitely my most emotional piece; most of the improvisation stemming from the grief following the end of my 7-month relationship with my girlfriend. It's groovy and fun; powerful and interesting... ...just listen to it. Enjoy! -chth
  22. Hi there, This is my first ever remix. I made it about a year ago and it has been up on the Amiga section of remix64.com for a while. I've only recently plucked up the courage to submit it here. I My contact info: Remixer name: Lavaburn Real name: Dale Whinham My email address: daleyo@gmail.com My website: http://lavaburn.com Forum member ID: 27392 Remix info: Name of game: Lemmings Name of song: Tune 13 Additional info: The game title is already in your database, however this is a remix of a tune found in the Amiga version, and not the Commodore 64 version. The original composers were Tim Wright and Brian Johnston, and I believe the publisher was Psygnosis. Comments: I created this arrangement for fun, as I'm a huge fan of this retro classic, and it was one of my first attempts at using Reason to create a song. I called it Tune 13 because it didnt appear to have any kind of official name, and it was number 13 in the ripped soundpack from the Exotica Amiga music archive. I got some nice comments from other people who I have shown it to, and so I was hoping that maybe some other fans of the game would recognise the tune. Equipment/software used: Technics SX-KN701 (master keyboard) Reason 2.5 Its not overly complex, with it being my first endeavour into the remixing scene, but I hope to make something more exciting next time around. I hope you enjoy it. Many thanks! - Dale/Lavaburn
